    Home again..

Well CB and I got there and home OK, we had teamed up with Xaria, Nighthawk, Connor and his doris Lee? (sorry, piss-poor with name remembering!) OutbackAl Phaedrus and Free2be.

I rode up with CB and all our gear on the Sporty, picked up the T-Sport from McIvor & Veitch with new $$$$ drive-belt - got great service from them getting it fitted in time, met the above crew and after gassing-up we left Dunners.

Great ride up, fine warm weather, lots of bikes heading to the Burt Munro to wave to and no hassles, CBs first rally on a bike of her own so she cracked the whip a bit to make sure we got there before dark - I guess 7:30pm IS before dark!.

Set up KB Camp '1' and settled in for the night, drinking and carousing until 2:39am and off to bed.

Woke up feeling not too bad, off to Temuka to fill the bikes and get a breakfast then off to Geraldine to meet the 'Canterbury Rabble' and have lunch, the usula crew turned up: Speedygirl, Dangerous, Mr&Mrs Sensible, Rashika, Suzy-Q etc etc the list goes on...

Back to the rally site and space had started to run out ( There was about 750 there on the Friday night, about the biggest turn-out yet for a Friday) so KB Camp '2' had to be assembled.

More and more KBers turned up; Oldtimer, 98TLS, Silage, idb, Woodybee, Huntaway and so on, I gues at a conservative estimate there would have been 25+ KBers present.

A certain rally virgin turned up, unsure if she's KBer or not but man, did she start her rally career witha bang! and a chunder too I believe)

I'll leave it for somebody else to chip in with more info pics etc....

    Cool

there was a good turnout at the Magpie this year. It has been 2 years since I was there and I was pleased I could make it this year. I did make the big mistake of not using the sunscreen in time and I am sufferring today. Fantastic weather, great company, shite bands but the other entertainment was interesting.

Getting the itchy feet to go for a ride on the friday, my boss says bugger off around 13:45 (kewl) shot home after filling with so gas, and packed the bike, with a little bit of time to spare. Free2be, OutbackAl, and Phaedrus, turning up giving us a hurry along. We all go down to the cafe across the road from M&V and wait for Scummy and CB to arrive. As we arriver Conner and better half arrive as well. Only to find out that they had turned there coffee machine off... "Say what..." However Al buys a box of pies for $6 so we all have a pie or two each... there was even a couple still left in the box when we handed it back. While we were waiting a few showers came and went... they hardly even made the road wet, if at all.

Scumdog & CB arrive and do there thing over at M&V, get the T-Sport packed and we were on our way only to stop again for the Sporty to refuel... On our way again and a few patchie but very lite showers (hardly worth mentioning really but they were there) Straight up state Hw1, with the next stop being Oamaru for the Sporty to gas up by which time the weather was fine and no sign of rain. We were off again at our harley like leisurely pace and up to the site.

Setting up camp, me and Xaria errecting the Taj Mahal (the tent be bigger than I remembered from the last time we used that sucker... but our theory is we had the room to carry extra stuff as well as the larger tent so why not... Partyed till the wee hours of the morning around 2:30 I believe before I said "um thats it, I quit..."

Next morning being woken by some moron yelling "Morning campers.." like we hadn't heard that one before... but now that I am awake I might as well get up... but heres the gixer in the teeth... it was only fracking 6:30.

Later in the morning after a couple of galons of coffee I went off to visit a friend in Ashburton, while the others, went and did there thing meeting the ChCh rable in Geraldine for lunch. I texted Scummy to say I will try and meet them there as I shot through at a bit of a pace. Only to find out that Scummy doesn't have his phoned switched on. Camp Kb had grown and a split, 98tls, Mr & Mrs S, Silage, Dangerous and Rasika, Woodybee, Idb, SpeedyGirl and OldRider, Suzi-Q and ummm... others

Back to the site for the afternoon activities, axe and knife throwing, lawn mower racing, and uni-motorcycle drag racing. The sun was out, and became blistering (literary) and it was time for a power nap. (very handy things these power naps) waking around dinner time cooking up a some food... we did a set of rounds and we all looked for our next bikes...

Prize giving was a setup, mainly cause no Kbers won anything... since we had our late night the night before decided not to have two of them in a row and would be 11:30-12:00 when we headed back to the land of nod...

Up bright and early again and for the life of me I have no idea why... had coffee, however there was a bit of a heavy due so the tent was wet (which is no problem)... had coffee, we slowly packed up gear as the raising sun slowly dried the tent, had more coffee, moan and groaned that I was up this early, and then we releise OutbackAl had already packed up and was gone...

Finally packed up and ready to roll Scummy said first stop Oamaru for the Sporty to top up with fuel, I looked at my gas gauge and said, no problem I have a half a tank couple of km’s down the road, the another bar down on the fuel, I quickly recalculated… should be ok… a couple of km’s out of Timaru I loose another bar… Hmmm “ more calculating… distance traveled, fuel in tank, how far to go… It was possible I could make it but would most likely have been running on a smell of an oily rag, so I decided to Tell Tom that I needed fuel… the group continued on while I topped up and then caught up…

Into Oamaru where the rest fueled and we got fuel for our stomachs. We all commenting on the wind gusts.. It was decided we would go Kakanui and then Trotters which was pleasant. Coming into Waikouti (however it be spelt) following CB on her Sporty I gust of wind got under her side saddles and picked them up I credit to CB she was able to catch them before getting blown off, and then thought now what, so slowing down she then placed/dropped them so she could pull up. We all stopped and Conner and Lee were able to pick the saddles up as they were TEC at the time. I then took one of my bungie cords holding my saddles down and put on over her saddles... by which time Scumdog had noticed we were no longer behind him and did a back track... On our way again and into Palmerston, then Bushy Hill Road/Goodwill road out of Palmerston and then out through Karatine. Through the road works at the base of the Kilmog, and stopping at Waitati basically to see if anyone was going to go over mount Cargill, and if so good byes till next time as Scummy and CB will be shooting straight through. We all look ahead at the weather deciding not to and stuck to the highway on into Dunedin where we slowly parted ways …

Over all awesome weekend, could not ask for better weather… and was good catch up with old friends… will be doing this one again

Had an awesome weekend - drank too much, ate too much, didn't sleep enough. Great weather, great company.

After having brunch in Temuka Saturday morning I went off to Timaru to get a new airbed from the Warehouse and then go geocaching. After my issues with finding a building that is about an acre in size, I decided to not going caching 'cos I would have no chance at finding a small container. Went back to the rally site and was just sorting things out in the tent when all the rest of the KBers came back. We then proceeded to lounge in the sun and generally do rally stuff. Phaedrus and Nighthawk were really good at the axe and knife throwing

Scenic trip on the way home, I hadn't been on that road out of Palmerston before (Goodwood I think). Wind was really picking up so kinda split up when we hit Dunedin. Already planning things to do differently for next yearClick image for larger version.
