Emma was a great person and nothing that happens now can bring back what was taken. I'm too shocked and saddened to care about devising cruel punishments or to pose speculations.

I personally think that people should keep their opinions to themselves while everyone recovers from the shock. Because a LOT of people knew her and were fond of her and I think that if you had some common decency you'd let it slide for a few days.

Surely, people like me should just avoid these posts because we're overly sensitive right? You'll understand when/if it to happens to you.

in all honesty though, the thread started because of the race component of the news story ........... it just got out of hand a bit from there on

I'm our resident redneck and I'll be the first to admit that plenty of white people are scum who commit horrible acts. I think people (including myself) often just leap to the assumption that the perp is not white, because brown people are disproportionally represented in NZ's violent crime statistics.. It's not to say that whites or asians cant commit the same horrible acts, but the reality is it's more likely to be a brown person.

FWIW, the vast majority of serial killers are white..
