Blimey: o.k. to answer your question. I am a new commer to NZ and KB and in simple terms,I was relaying my opinion and experience of UK policing towards bikers in the uk and soliciting opinions and experiences of the relationship between NZ bikers and the police force here.Thats it,I have no opinion on the boys in blue here at all and thats why I sought your council. It would appear thus far, that the're held in fairly high regard and thats good to hear.![]()
Oh bugger
All good mate - glad to hear this ia somewhat qualified thread and not simply an excuse "bash the bastards" as we've had far too many of those.
Just so you know - I may be a bit of a goodie two shoes according to some but I'm happy with the cops personally (can you tell). There will be opinions both ways on this of course... but cop bashing turned into a sport around here a while ago and it annoyed the snot out of me.
$2,000 cash if you find a buyer for my house, kumeuhouseforsale@straightshooters.co.nz for details
I had a call from a police officer up north this morning. An acquaintance of mine got nicked shooting on a farmer's property without permission, it would seem.
Again. Dumb bugger.
And they're sorting it out.
The NZ Police do a lot of hard work behind the scenes to keep things straight in this country, and my impression has always been that the vast majority of them are good honest sorts who are doing their best at a mucky job for very average pay.
Any political party that pledges significant pay rises for cops will get my attention at the next election.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

Last attempt and I'm done. In my opinion and drawn from my experience your brothers in the uk get a raw deal from over zealous policing. if you think that hundreds of police, riot waggons and helicopters are a justified representation at an erstwhile friendly peaceful Sunday afternoon bikers gathering, cool. If you think an exhaust that meets noise regs but isn't stamped c/e approved, warrants a day in court,a fine and points on your license is fair, when you can steel a car and walk free from court,ok.
I just thought you would be interested to know and I was interested to know your opinion on the policing of bikers over here.
I have barley seen a policeman let alone spoken to one since I've been here and I therefor have no opinion on them at all. Bashing NZ police was not and is not my intention. If there good fair play.
I ,for my trouble ,have been lampooned derided and accused of dishonesty, sensationalising, attention seeking and muckraking. Those of you that gave your opinions on NZ policing, thank you.To the others, I'm sorry you misunderstood my intentions but thanks for contributing.![]()
Oh bugger
Not my experience, bro'. Sounds like you've had a real rough run, but that doesn't match my experience of the police in the UK at all.
Went to plenty of races, and all they ever seemed to be doing was making sure that people kept it sane and got out of the event as smoothly as possible. Got pulled (or had police attend the scene) a few times and never got done for an illegal plate or noisy exhaust, despite usually carry at least one of the two. I've had speeding tickets downgraded or waived, as well as a failure to produce (I got done for speeding on a bike I'd just bought that had no MoT or tax.)
And I've had the same deal here: no dramas, reasonable treatment. Hell, even the renowned Wellington traffic wardens let me off that $200 "failure to display" ticket when I produced my documentation. Yes, I have finally learned my lessons, and that's good policing IMHO.
Might just be one man's good luck against another's bad, and maybe the truth lies between. I heard plenty of bitching when I lived in the UK and I've heard plenty over here, but I've yet to feel the effects of either. Touch wood.
