They possibly would not care if a rider went through one, but if they realise that a juggernaut might penetrate the barrier and take them out, or that their cab could become a convertible if they hit one, they may be a little more sympathetic to the cause.

We have to get non-riders to see that banning or covering WRB benefits them too!
People don't care until they see that they could get hurt too!
We have to make it about "them", not "us".

billboards would have to be above normal car height due to their width, otherwise we could in trouble under traffic obstruction.

We have obeyed the letter of the law and been respectful to the LTSA reps that spoke to us yesterday. We have had some media coverage but not a lot. May thanks to the people that have covered our protest rides.

Well the beer and port are well gone from my blood now and I have had plenty of time at work today to think about things. Maybe it is time to stop being so nice. Look at it this way. We are nice and sit around drinking tea while miles of these barriers go up. So it is going to kill. We sit around and people are being lined up to die. So it's time to get a bit more aggressive.

Maybe we need to ride to Parliament and bang on some desks. Bash some heads on the walls and generally make our point that we are not going to let the killing fields continue to be developed. We stand back and they just send out muppets that think they are smart and will talk us away. Time to take some civil disobedient action. Maybe even personal attacks on the people that insist on putting these things up? Maybe some property damage and some assaults are what is needed. Aye if you can have gorilla training camps in NZ and get away with it maybe we need to take action. Time to stir the pot and get some heat in the fire. I am sure if a few politicians went down in a screaming heap the media would start to look. Why should they be able to kill us on the roads and expect us to stand by and do nothing? Maybe some politicians should be delivered to the wire rope barriers at 100 kmh from the back of a ute so they can see what we have to face. How far do we need to go?

Come on what are we doing next? This is not a war with the police or the public but with the greater minds that put money before lives. ACC would rather you die cos it is cheaper for them to have you buried than rebuild you. Wire rope do that well. The Prime minister and the ministers of the state that have the power are the only ones that can change this over night. So maybe they are the ones that need singling out for attention.

Well that's how I feel. Enough of the nandy pandy shit arss kissing awareness rides. time to kick single serious butt.

Well maybe not that much but we need to start looking at WHAT NEXT?
I believe 'The Stranger' attended a meeting with BRONZ and the LTSA people up in Auckland and the outcomes was pretty good. They spoke directly to the people (and person) at the top and all the other right places. Trust me, it's going to be going the right way but it ain't going to happen overnight. They are now much more aware of our concerns, and a lot was gained from the meeting.

Personally I think it is best to maintain the 'awareness rides' to show that we are still here and still care, and the more people (cagers included) we can get to see the given dangers associated with the barriers in certain places (given that in some places they are a neccesary evil) are sometimes as dangerous to them as they are to ass then we will be all for the better.

edit: Thats the dude in the video - what he says is what i was told...

Just stick them flat against the fence. Traffic moving at 5kph will see it.

Can't remember the name of the road, but it's a coastal stretch near Wellington. I was assured by someone who is opposed to the things that he can see why they are used there BUT it is a standout case.

I think it's best we bide our time until atleast the March BRONZ meeting with LTNZ (or whatever they call themselves now) before getting pissed off about things. I know this may result in more injuries/deaths and that is very sad and unfortunate but things can only happen so quickly in a beaurocratic society.

Personally I know that the guy who spoke gets paid more if less people die on our roads so it is in his own interests to help get the road toll down, and as he said many good things were taken away from meeting they already had.

We need to focus on getting the existing barriers made safe, as from an engineering point of view they are actually a pretty good system, but having bare edges exposed etc isn't helping anyone. Looking towards the future there will be much more (there was barely any before now) consultation with motorcycle lobby/focus groups (i.e BRONZ) with relation to road barriers which can only be better for us.

Just a thought, I agree with what you are all saying
But do you think we need to take these tactics underground??

    Nothing like the "Surprise element"
That way no one, other that us will know what we are planning

Is it possible for KB to have a locked section with a password, or maybe we have to resort to Mass PM'S

I am in for whatever happens until these things go!!

Whilst I agree with the majority of what you are saying
I don't agree that we bide our time and hope that there are no more injuries or deaths as a result of someone else's in ability to protect us all

I can say now, that if someone ends up on (or worse, through) these barriers all hell will break loose, so I will not sit back and wait for a meeting in March, only to discover that they wont do anything about it until 2011

We need to keep in their faces and by the time the meeting in March rolls around they have no other choice but to remedy these death traps and stop erecting anymore

    Cheers
