They possibly would not care if a rider went through one, but if they realise that a juggernaut might penetrate the barrier and take them out, or that their cab could become a convertible if they hit one, they may be a little more sympathetic to the cause.
We have to get non-riders to see that banning or covering WRB benefits them too!
People don't care until they see that they could get hurt too!
We have to make it about "them", not "us".

What about blowen up pics of the munted car etc stuck on the barrier? Could be the size that Holy Roller had that the ride, just turn up at mid night and stick them on.
Better still pick a place that is bumper to bumper at rush houre. let the traffic see how good they are.
billboards would have to be above normal car height due to their width, otherwise we could in trouble under traffic obstruction.

I believe 'The Stranger' attended a meeting with BRONZ and the LTSA people up in Auckland and the outcomes was pretty good. They spoke directly to the people (and person) at the top and all the other right places. Trust me, it's going to be going the right way but it ain't going to happen overnight. They are now much more aware of our concerns, and a lot was gained from the meeting.
Personally I think it is best to maintain the 'awareness rides' to show that we are still here and still care, and the more people (cagers included) we can get to see the given dangers associated with the barriers in certain places (given that in some places they are a neccesary evil) are sometimes as dangerous to them as they are to ass then we will be all for the better.
edit: Thats the dude in the video - what he says is what i was told...

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
where are they a necessay evil? ive never seen a cheese cutter anywhere where its more suited than an armco or concrete barrier.

Can't remember the name of the road, but it's a coastal stretch near Wellington. I was assured by someone who is opposed to the things that he can see why they are used there BUT it is a standout case.
I think it's best we bide our time until atleast the March BRONZ meeting with LTNZ (or whatever they call themselves now) before getting pissed off about things. I know this may result in more injuries/deaths and that is very sad and unfortunate but things can only happen so quickly in a beaurocratic society.
Personally I know that the guy who spoke gets paid more if less people die on our roads so it is in his own interests to help get the road toll down, and as he said many good things were taken away from meeting they already had.
We need to focus on getting the existing barriers made safe, as from an engineering point of view they are actually a pretty good system, but having bare edges exposed etc isn't helping anyone. Looking towards the future there will be much more (there was barely any before now) consultation with motorcycle lobby/focus groups (i.e BRONZ) with relation to road barriers which can only be better for us.

Just a thought, I agree with what you are all saying
But do you think we need to take these tactics underground??
Nothing like the "Surprise element"
That way no one, other that us will know what we are planning
Is it possible for KB to have a locked section with a password, or maybe we have to resort to Mass PM'S
I am in for whatever happens until these things go!!![]()

Whilst I agree with the majority of what you are saying
I don't agree that we bide our time and hope that there are no more injuries or deaths as a result of someone else's in ability to protect us all
I can say now, that if someone ends up on (or worse, through) these barriers all hell will break loose, so I will not sit back and wait for a meeting in March, only to discover that they wont do anything about it until 2011
We need to keep in their faces and by the time the meeting in March rolls around they have no other choice but to remedy these death traps and stop erecting anymore
Cheers
