It was a foregone conclusion when he reapplied. I reckon he only reapplied becuse he'd been given the nod.

Lets hope Robbie Deans isn't a successful with the Wallabies as he is with the Crusaders.

I think he deserved it. Hasn't lost a game at home, won 42 of 48 (I think) and the ABs are well and truly the number one team in the world. And the number 2 team as well if you think about it.

Rumour has it, the NZRU wanted to send a message that the world cup isn't the be all and and end all.

Don't forget, the AB's are a huge marketing advantage for the NZRU (how many AB Jersey's do they sell overseas??), and you get that for being number 1, not always for being World Champs.

Good Q - but I think I finally cracked it...he gets Fijians and Tongans that are good at rugby, dresses them in black and makes them run around a lot.

Seriously though. Good job. His track records impressive and those better qualified than me made a decision which is going to go against the punters always baying for blood after a failure to secure a major trohy

A good decision in my opinion. Deans wasnt qualified anyway. id rather have seen Gatland if a change was required.
Give Henry a couple more years and see what develops.

We have this problem in this country, particuarly with rugby. The coach/manager takes ALL of the blame when it goes wrong.
If your gonna sack Ted for loosing that one game, then surely the captain should also be dropped, not to mention the numpties on the RFU board.

Losing everything but the World Cup; or
Winning most of the games, but dropping the Cup

I know which I'd choose.

Explain if you will how Deans is not qualified to coach the All Blacks.Henry didnt just lose that one game,by losing it he forfeited the next two which to me is the same as a loss,thank god we didnt have to play Argentina as that would he been more embarrassing.Henry didnt have a clue in that French game in fact he might just as well not have been there as he did nothing but watch it slip away.Not saying i am surprised hes kept his job this is NZ after all,so what can we expect for the super 14 i wonder,top players being rested,as for the All Blacks is it to be more mindless rotation? methinks that or something just as ridiculous.Henrys time with Wales ended in disaster i guess NZRFU sees Wales as something to aim for.As for the two year contract,wtf is that about?If they had faith he would have got them through to the next cup,if they have doubts why bother and give him the shove as they have to others?Robbie Deans years with the Crusaders have shown him more than able to coach the All Blacks as lets face for many of those years the Crusaders were the All Blacks.I would be willing to put up with some losses over the next two years to see the back of Mr Henry and would enjoy a deans coached team to inflict them.

Umm...what more did he have to do? I hope coaching Australia doesn't make him qualified.

Anyone else going to be nervous next Tri-Nations if Deans gets the other job?
