Correct me if I'm wrong here, but on a scale of one to fuck all, what has Mallard and the guy who tok him to court got ANYTHING to do with Quasi being ripped off by Indonesian fraudsters. Or are you just annoyed that no-one's given you an opportunity to say how much you love Uncle Helen recently?
that sux hopefully your parcels havent left
The word 'fraud'. That was it? Tenuous at best, I feel.
But why not mention tha Trocadero owner Asif Aziz has been sued for US$20 million over allegations he defrauded a lebanese businessman once thought to be involved in the trade in African blood diamonds. Or, if that's too far away for you, what about the fact that a Panmure GP has been charged with defrauding the Department of Health of $1.4 million. Or that FINSEC have urged banks to fully indemnify customers against online fraud.
Why were none of those worth a mention. Oh, becuase it didn't involve the darling butter-wouldn't-melt-never-hurt-a-fly-innocent-as-the-day-is-long Labour party.
Holy crap talk about having to be up with the game ..
that could really bust a company, good news you caught on early quasi ..
see you sat .. without a dodgy credit card![]()
Have toKarma ... Justice catches up eventually !!
It used to be really common for people in the the "underground" computer world to card things back in the day. Before online banking took off, online merchants had to process credit cards manually, and often took 2-3 weeks to find out they were fakes. I knew heaps of people that did it, it was just so rediculously easy back then, especially for "virtual" pucrhases rather than physical goods. My point is this isnt a new problem, people were doing it over 10 years ago, and I imagine people will still be doing it in another 10.
.
Not sure what ratio of product/recoup Quasi has to deal with, but the loss of three jackets, could mean he needs to sell twenty odd to make up his lost earnings.
F**k'n thieves need to be punished hard and fast.![]()
I don't trust credit cards - I don't/won't have one, and wouldn't accept them (especially online or by mail/phone/whatever).
There's next to no authentication involved, except when used in person with an eftpos machine (or a zip-zap), so that the pin or signature can be checked.
At least a business can choose to only accept credit cards in person; it doesn't help for a customer to only use their card in person, because their card info can still be used online without any proper checks.
The essential problem is, a credit card transaction is accepted with no information that is intended to be private.
We need a new method for payments on line, that would probably have to involve both parties' computers along with both their banks' computers, and a bunch of digital certificates.
I'm not sure what size event is needed to trigger that kind of revolution, though. Possibly a rather larger business than Quasimoto getting hit and deciding to refuse to accept them - a big enough one that they can survive the interim loss of business.

YAY the NZ post has found our package and the jackets will be returned to us shortly !!
Big ups to nz post, it would have been so easy for them to say tuff luck and not bother ..........cheers NZ post
we have also contacted the fraud team at the bank and they are onto them, the card numbers are no longer functional and their addresses have been passed on.
Interestingly one of the alledged fraudsters is saying that he will pay direct into our account via a bank transfer, possibly he is legite, we have got the bank to set up a seperate account for this possible transaction one with no money in it, so will see what happens.
end of the day pisses us off as its alot of effort to go to for nought return.
but a good lesson for us as a business anyway, so maybe they did us a favour.
thanks for the comments people

Ive run out of fucks to give
It is when the fraudsters seriously start eating into the huge interest take on credit cards, will the banks do anything about fraud containment.
Glad that it worked out as well as possible. as you said - Big UPS to NZ post!
