Also.. with regards to your "cv/covering letter".. Are you with WINZ in any way?? If you are.. get them to send you to Career Services...

If you're not with WINZ.. ring Career Services yourself!! That is EXACTLY the sort of thing they can help you with!!!

Make sure you get a full time gig and not a 3 month trial.

(wow .. thoughs... so many of them)

and I do have contacts in the vet world to back up my cv if they have questions as a "just in case"
Keep the C.V succinct, and the personal profile no more than one page.

have a list of referees with contact details (phone numbers) as written references are usually just briefly read and the HR person generally prefers to speak to a previous employer in person(but in saying that they have to have your consent to do so and can only confer with the referee stated on your list).

    aah, awesome info!

my personal profile is just under a page, so i'm sweet with that ^_^

as for referees, well I havn't worked much so I don't have many of those and some of the places I have worked at don't do the whole reference thing as a policy... *doh* ...

referees can also be people like:

*the tutor of a course you may have done
    *College guidance councilor
    *volunteer work "boss"
    *church minister
    *youth group leader

etc etc. Someone who can "vouch" for you, as a person.

If one/two of the above can say things like: you are honest.. a hard worker.. keen to learn.. can work well in a team.. can work well by yourself.. on time.. reliable.. well presented.. etc etc. Then that's the sort of things a prospective employer will like to hear!
