Suzuki Goose SG350 no spark

Hello NZ Buddies

I'm in the UK and have a scruffy SG350 thats been sat in my shed since last summer when I picked her up as a non-runner to accompany the Tuono and become my fun commuter.

Right, I got her all ready to go yesterday and to cut a very long story short there's no spark. I've checked all of the components that I can and I also know that the genreator is good as its just been re-wound and the pulser coils were supposedly tested at the same time (ok). I've gone through the loom / and connectors etc and done continuity tests / cleaned everything.

What I know works;

Kill switch
Loom
Generator
Plug
Cap
HT lead
Coil
Low tension lead (loom)
Earth points

What I dont know works;

Ignitor box
Reg / Rec
Pulser coils

Major bummer is that the Goose is a grey bike here in the UK so Suzuki have no manuals or test data available - I know that you got the SG over there so wondered if any of you guys or girls could help me out?

Gidday Ben,
As far as I know the Goose was a "Grey" bike here too... (Feel free to enlighten me if I'm wrong...)

Not of much use to you, I'm sure, but the motor is the same as that used in the DR 350 off road bike.

I'm picking your problem will llie with a "Dry jointed" connection somewhere in the ignition system - time to make certain that the battery is in absolutely tip top shape & start going through wires one by one to ensure you have continuity throughout the system...

Do a few basic checks on things like side stand switch, if fitted & as mentioned above, condition of the battery, any starter lock out switches etc etc...

Suzuki electrics are shite at the very best of times

Do you have access to a running Goose that you could trail fit parts from to eliminate major components that way ?

Cheers, I've been through all that and have blanked off the stand with a bridging wire

I've aksed on a UK bike forum for a fellow SG owner to drop by, but they are mega rare over here

PS I was jumping the Goose from a running bike (RSV) so power no porblem.

Gidday again Ben,
I note in your reply that you say you were jump starting the Goose from another bike...

Did you use "Anti Spike / Surge" jump leads when you were doing this...

I'm thinking, perhaps, you may have fried the igniter, pull it out, go see Mr Suzuki & ask him to test it for you (any competent Suzuki Dealer will have the required testing equipment to do this for you - it's part of there mandatory workshop kit)
