heh, just my 2 cents here..

as a girlfriend of a biker...

yeah, before I started going out with Indy I knew how much he was into bikes.. I liked that.. because I love a person that is really passionate about something. It shows they have the capacity to love passionately.

I was also mildly interested in bikes at this stage as I had been on a ride when I was little on a cruiser which really rocked my socks! I just hadn't had the chance to explore bikes more.

Then I started going out with him and just became more interested in bikes while I became more interested in him lol.

What I'm trying to say here really, is that I love Indy, I love bikes and I love Indy AND bikes.. so If he wants to ride alone or go with the guys or whatever, I'm usually like "sweet I'll see you when you get home". HE repays me by listening to me babble on about animals all day and how cute they are and about how much I REEEEALLY want a dog... and he's willing to let me have a dog at some stage (hopefully soon) hehe...

in the end, what I'm trying to say is, you've both gotta respect eachother's passions and allow eachother time for those. It's the only way things are gunna work.

Probably because noone on a ZXR would consider a 250 hornet a challenge - it's a little bit like when boyracers pull along in their souped up shitbuckets and wanna have a drag. You let them go - because it's better to have the dangerously insane in front of you where you can keep an eye on them.

I love my girlfriend but she struggles to understand when i want to go for a ride by myself! She doesnt get the idea that a pillion makes the bike much less agile, and then gets shitty coz "u wuld rather spend time with the bike over me" In reality she gets far more attention but i think the idea of me lusting over "a machine" gets her really wild. lol anyone else get this problem? or should i be looking for a biker chick? A rare but sort after breed of woman....
I guess im lucky that my man rides and lets me ride (blowup) his bikes.... If you wanna spend more time with your bike than your girlfriend then do it. Just make sure that you're happy being single. When you meet the right person you wont have issues like this. They'll probably be alot more major. If you really do care about your girlfriend and see yourself with her for the rest of your life, blah blah, yadda yadda then ya better start making some compromises. If you dont want tom ake compromises then break up with her and spend more time riding. It can be a "win-win" situation if you want it badly enough.

Friend of mine named mike has a ZXR 250 i get 2 - 3 lengths on it constantly to 100khmph before the bloddy thing catches and that only because i dont have any fairings and got nothing to tuck behind. and yeh i let the "boy racers in there souped up shit buckets go....
Why do people constantly under estimate hornets. they have the same motor as the cbrr just dont rev as much wich is easily changed

    Appreciation

I really appreciate it but under the circumstances I think he is INSANE. I know how much he loves bikes and I hate taking him away from it. I don't if I could be that selfless for another person, hopefully yes!

Auckland is a long way away. I might make it up there on the 250 one day. If you on that occasion can find a closed piece of road (I will not commit to a race of any sort on the public road!) - sure.
Otherwise, if you find yourself in the vincity of Chch I know of a spot that would do nicely.

There are huge differences between bikes. Some bikes have been cared for, some have been tuned nicely and seen proper servicing... If you compare old bikes, then the way they've spent their lives will matter greatly.

A girl I know ride a newer ZXR250 than mine and she says that she has got hers tapped out when doing 170 km/h. I've had mine up to 175 km/h on the straight of Ruapuna - but then I run out of road, the bike still had more left in it. Heard from a previous owner that he had it off the clock (~200 km/h) - but I haven't tried that myself...

AFAIK there hasn't been made a nipponese 250 ccm 4-stroke that produced more than 45 hps from the factory. As such I can't see how you'd expect a Hornet to be faster accelerating than a ZXR (even if you bring the engine back to CBR spec).
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Yeh well maybe his needs a tune, forgot you guys dont have motorways down there, ive clocked out once but will never try again as the wind was quiet intense but i was past the speedo of 180kmph.
I dont expect my bike to do anything i was surprised at beating the bikes ive raced the reason i got it is because i liked the look with the twin exhausts, and a friend has an older model that is just as quick as mine but he has had the exhaust ports opened up, and carbs rejetted and balanced hes fucked with the intake. he says mines a hell of a lot quicker than his when he got his.
Maybe somethings been tampered with as far as i no it the standard 42hp
25nm flps, has got full rfr race exhaust with twin cans but besides look and sound cool that not going to change any thing.

I hit bout 190kmh on my 95 zxr c, and that was it.

Was going out wiv some chick for like 2 years when i was bout to turn 17 and get a proper bike (in the uk), and she was adiment that if i got the bike she'd leave me "it's me or the bike", my response "the bike isnt making me choose, so i'll get the bike and you do what you want" in the end i got the bike and she didnt go anywhere (till afew months later when we broke up anyway), and if she had have left me she wouldnt have been the kinda person i'd have wanted to be with anyway!!!

She got pissy when i went out on my own, but she wouldnt get on the back so i told her tough and she could try to follow me in the car but she wouldnt keep up for long. Again she just had to get used to it.

Bottom line is ur girlfriend should accept you for who you are and what you love, my current girlfriend isnt overly happy with me having a bike but she knows how much I love it and she wants me to be happy....n im not happy without a bike.

Yeah, I have it the same way. If someone is trying to force an "exclusivity clause" (either X go or I don't want to play) down my throat I usually tell them to stuff it.

Fuck, can'y you remember the prissy little fuckers back in school who'd come over and want to join the game on the condition that this or that guy had to leave
Or the ones that would object to letting someone else play along and threaten to leave the game if the others let the newcomer join in...
    Those playgrounds were rough sometimes!

Scary stuff when your partner, who you thought was at least older than 15 (or is it 17 down here?), starts pulling that kinda shit. But then I guess the girls takes a while longer to grow out of that stuff.

I took up motorcycling after having been with my girlfriend for over 2 years and she was cool about it. Was happy for me to get the best safety gear I could get my hands on and me spending money on safety courses and whatnot. (luckily she hasn't got any expensive hobbies... )

My bike objects to me riding it more than my girlfriend

Bikes don't ask for it either

Don't just look at power output, the Hornet is lower weight by ~20kg over a ZXR250 A model if the internet is to be believed. Combine that with a midget rider and it could well be quicker to 100 until fairing aerodynamics come into play.

And i've seen my friends ZXR250 pull away gently but steadily from my RG150 a bit past 170k before, granted my RG was probably only doing 160 at best.
