How many threads or posts have there been that relate to the rep system? There's always someone moaning about not having enough (usually green) or having too much (usually red.) I don't think it's the rep that gets people going, it's the comments that are directed at people. Both negative and positive.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them

Okay, as a long term gatherer of rep points based on my ability to offend many, I say get rid of the rep system, not needed , its pointless, causes hassles for the Mods, waste of space etc etc.
As an example, there is a certain "other site" (see below) that doesnt have it and thats proof that its not needed, so out the door like a two dollar Hoar and lets get it gone
thats what I say any bling coming my way...

The problem I see with the system is that people can receive the "reward" without actually earning it. If I want to earn loads of bling in a hurry, I only need to find 10 people who're prepared to give me bling everyday and I will do the same in return for them. BAM! Bling increasing rapidly.
I have no problem with people receiving bling for a post that adds value to the site. This is subjective anyway because different posts give value to different people.
