You're pissed off with studylink. We get it.

Oh and it IS NOT FREE MONEY. We have to pay it back.
Well your really have to work on your research skills. Its not like they keep it a secret. Your lack of planing is your fault not theirs - you should be angry with yourself not them.

Either that or I have become dumber since I was last at uni.
Sorry - I call bullshit - They have soooo many holidays there is plenty of time to get a part time job.

    Yes, certainly.
Holidays are a different matter, and you have to work then anyway because your loan and allowance stops over the holidays if they are longer two weeks, or maybe three, I can't remember.

During uni a decade ago I worked just 5 hours a week at the supermarket to keep my foot in the door, then when holidays came I grabbed all the shifts i could, nearly full-time.
    A good arrangement.

Full time work and full time study is hard, and your grades will suffer unless you happen to be particularly gifted or experienced in a given subject. But it's Not true that you can't work part time, study full time and get good grades. Just requires god old fashioned hard work is all.

Funny. I'm a conservative and aging biker student who hates young lazy consumerist Gen-Y fuckwit students who whine about how hard the courses are when they don't put in an ounce of effort, then complain when they don't pass their papers. Those little pricks really give me the shits.... bring down the whole standard of engineering they do.

Engineering students! hehe, they take alcohol consumption to a whole new level, make it an art-form. I think when compared to any other group of students, civil engineering students win hands down for sheer volume of ethanol consumed. Followed by P.E. students maybe.

Nice comeback ! (you get two Tank thumbs up).

But seriously its the comments he made about us "investing in the future earners of NZ" - which is (of course) bullshit and its that which I find annoying.

Going to Uni has no indication of future earnings - there are a lot of uni students with piss useless degrees. There are a lot of people who have no deg who earn a ton (and therefore pay huge tax).

A lot of them (possibly not the poster - but he did infer) want to be invested in - then piss off to Aust - which would make them a poor investment!

Why not just get one of those interest free overdrafts for a couple of weeks? I know it's not ideal, but it seems you might be in a bit of a pickle, with study starting this week or next, and no money coming in?

It would get you out of a bind anyway - you can work next holidays and pay it off?

(Many many years ago ... hehe) I studied full time and worked part time through my first degree - also had kids during it. I passed with honours. I'm now working full time, raising the kids, and doing a post-grad degree part time. Welcome to student life McDuck, it's addictive, and expensive!
