    You're all invited ...

... on The Great North Island Loop Ride which will take place on Saturday and Sunday 15/16th March, overnighting at Taupo's Great Lake Holiday Park

The ride is passing through the other end of the gorge and we'd love to meet up and ride with the Manawatu crew since you gave us such a great time on Waitangi Day.

yes!! Got me name fixed now i dont have to worry about people asking me how much im selling my 250 hornet for lol

and Fark me the kat is finally finished completely, got all the rest of me parts today from ebay ,ran out to the shed, managed to put all the fairings on ,headlight, speedo etc in an hour ,took it for a ride and first thing i thought was ....this is a bloody awkward thing to ride (haveing been on the hornet for the past couple of months ) so hopefully i can get back into the whole head down arse up style of the kat quick enough.but she certainly runs well .

too mark the occasion today i pulled a sickie and took her for a ride to wellington and back just to get back into the feel of it and just had a huge smile on my face the whole way ...ahh realized how much i bloody missed the thing .now for the next ride eh!

only thing now is the new gear ,should be fun but i have a feeling my wallet is not going to feel the same

    the RF generator escapade

fairing off, tank off, airbox off, starter motor out, generator out

    sounds easy

    it wasnt

i now have a gaping hole in the top of the tranny as i also took the starter/generator drive bay off the top of the trans as well. the generator is gear driven off the trans and this gearset is also turned over by the starter. the generator drive has a cog with a bush around it so the 'shock' of the starter doesnt root the generator (by the looks). it's this bush that appears to be rooted

will take it to PTs tomorrow and get a 2nd opinion, it may not be THE problem but it certainly looks farked

pic 1 shows it still in the generator drive
pic 3 shows it taken out, you can see the surface of the bush is a mess

tis good to pull your bike apart every now and then

i see your problem. the zooki doesnt have enough power to turn that generator. The good news is you can sell that beast to waipa to run the upper north island though.

PS. yes that bush is shagged (you already know that) but that is not causeing the no charge problem. Keep digging.

am I looking at it wrong? Doesnt that whole unit move and the bush is there to stop it "welding" together? Is there not a shaft through the middle of that large gear?
