Might be a miss for me now - throughout the week the people who were down as going have bailed out! Last person to bail was an hour ago!

Yeah you know who you are!

Guilty as charged. Just too wet for me, slippery roads just don't seem like my idea of fun. And it's about the ride, not the destination, right?

Looking forward to this rally next year - got to leave some "firsts" to live for.

    Back to housework.

Well waimate was cool and overcast and dry when I left there around 1pm, pretty much the same in oamaru all morning , but heading north back to chch run into rain around temuka ,and had it all the way back to chch. Looking at some of the wet souls heading down ,I did feel a little guilty, so turned the heater in the truck down a tad .

    Except it wasn't wet!
Bit of air spit on the way there, rained while we were asleep, dry roads all the way home

Bright and sunny Christchurch welcome us back.

Anyone try those bbq fish sammies with garlic butter? MMm yum.

Always good to catch up with you GB,xKnuts, Subike etc.. We stopped by camp KB on the way out but hardly anyone there - few recognized faces but no one we'd be introduced to so we just carried on.

Was it just me, or was Brothers Grimm REALLY good? Some bands can play, some bands can perform. They could do both - rare find!

    well another awesome rally!
Friday's ride down was pretty good, a tad windy in places but mostly hot and sunny. Got down about 5pm to a brilliantly sunny spot in Waimate, raced to get tent up and gears off, and shorts and singlet on. Met up with some of the southern crew; Daffyd, Nighthawk, 98TLS, and northern; bent51 (nice to meet you at last)... oh I'm so hopeless, forgotten who else was there when we rocked up.
Then it was straight into the friday night festivities... while waiting for TWR and Chancyy to turn up... waiting, and waiting... eventually turned up about 9.15 after running out of fuel at waimate 1 km from the rally site.

Then it was alcohol and dancing and a wee bit of drizzle, and before i knew it, it was 2am and time to contemplate sleep. Esp after the band had stopped about 1.5 hours earlier and we had gossiped and waited for them to come back... but they didn.t
At least SOME of us got to bed then, others took a wee while longer to get there eh BB & 98TLS

Saturday: woke to sunshine and a bit of low cloud, and thought kewl... that means should be good for the others. Rang home only to find it was STILL raining in chch and had been all night previously.... damn. Guess friday was the best day to travel.
Hit the supermarket for some tasty morsels for lunch, and proceeded back to rally site to scoff in front of all the new arrivals as they came thru the gate. What a great spot we had. Dry shed to party in, haybales to sit on and entertainment to watch all day long. The northern chch bunch arrived about 1ish and brought the damn rain with them. So we all sat in the haybales and watched various peoples attempts to ride thru the now wet grass/mud. Most were successful, and some had taken stupid pills that day and thought hooning was a good idea... splat. Oh well at least it was soft ground.

Saturday night was a bit of a repeat of friday, tho not quite 2am this time... I'm getting too old for that sorta shit now. But the band was awesum as normal... they are just a great mix of old and new rock, and damn fine entertainers as well.
Thanks to our very own BotB and Lil'M for entertaining us with their own style of show, along with all the other wet Tshirters. And big congrats to RON for winning the wet jock... sorry trevor you just dont do it for us mate Tho u are still entertaining!
Got home today just in time for the southerly to hit and now its raining again. Oh well, down in the dry and back in the dry, with only a bit of wet inbetween, sound like a perfect rally all in all!

See you all next time, I'll be there rain or shine
pics later when i get permission off the girls
