Geeze there is a fair bit of whinging going on here. Be bloody thankfull that you can still ride, are not in a wheelchair like me and the bike is getting fixed.
However, I had to wait 5 weeks for my brand new cbr600rr to arrive from Japan, which it did slightly quicker. But for 4 weeks I was bikeless because I sold my old bike to another kiwibiker. Really sucked, but I did alot of downhill mountian biking and tracks. Good way of dealing with the frustration of not being able to ride and when I got home and had a shower, I was too fecked to care.![]()

^ well where else is he gonna whinge?!?! if his mates arent here to support him during his time of need then who the hell will?!?! social support is a very important part of relieving life stress matey so whinge on i say and let your mates give you a pat on the back and get you back on track with words of kindness and appropriate advice![]()

Well this is where we will have to disagree. There are two ways of dealing with stress. One is dwelling on it and one is doing something about it to get your mind off it and using the stress as a motivational tool. Like when you get close to a deadline for an essay. You either give up and moan that its too hard or you get on with it to meet the deadline. My good friends would tell me to stop biarching also.![]()

Stress relieve method? Agree with Inlinefour; doing something that would take your mind off the stress....I dont believe in the alcohol but my stress relieve method involves rolling out the bike out of the garage and go for a long ride alone.....
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.
I used to be a charge nurse in the lockup side of the psychiatric unit here at the hospital. As you might guess when the shit really hit the fan the stress levels go up (or you just have no idea of what its like dealing with acutely unwell people experiencing a signifigant episode of mental health/illness). There was days that I just rang in sick and blasted off down the backroads on one of my motorsickles dependant on what sort of mood I was in was the choice of bike I was riding. I must admit that when I had to start selling my 13 and a half motorsickles I put up a thread. But it was not there to whinge but to express my sadness at the time, I just kept telling myself of how lucky I am to still be alive and those in the know, know it was close to game over. Ive allways tried to see the cup half full and guess I dont understand why people see it half empty. This guy has not got the bike for awhile, woopdeefarkingdoo. I had the bike but no way of riding and Im farked if I want pity/sympathy as I'd sooner run the dumbarse over in my chair that offers it. I see someone crying for sympathy and think, what a softcock. Maybe I'm a wanker, but I can't feel that anymore either so I'd rather find something else to do. I've got a new 1/5th 2 smoker rc car now, does 80kph flat out or close to. I can allways chase someone around with it to get their minds of their problem(s) but it needs a fuel stop after about 15 minutes I'm told. But for this I'm sure I could jerry up something on a small trailer for long range.![]()

Hey inlinefour
I'd seen your Avatar posted up on KB before but never realised that you were actually on 4 wheels. So firstly, pleased to meet you!
I guess, I should say that I too was in a wheel chair at one point in my life after I broke my neck and back. Fortunately for me (and no disrespect to you), I made a near-full recovery and within a year of the accident was living a pretty normal life. Nowadays, I live in daily pain but have a full range of movement.
As you have successfully demonstrated, a little perspective is always good - but I guess it's all relative at the same time too... 6 weeks without a bike is a biggie nowadays - but 10 years ago I was laid up for half a year after my accident.
Anyway, cheers for the reminder!
P.S. Could you ride a trike?

No worries, Ive just had ACC pay for the green thing that I'm on in my profile pic, I wont tell you what it cost as you probably wont believe me (I didnt either until the rep showed me the paperwork). Yea it was crap being bed bound, I spent the first 4 or so weeks in a coma and everyone at ICU was surprised I pulled through. Must have been given some mickey mint drugs as I was in several worlds of my own, changing at random. I really would like something to ride again but we are having to get a new house built to handle my needs in the chair (
again), so I'm not too sure whats going to happen there. However I'm hoping to get a ride on this http://www.martinconquest.com/home/ but are waiting to get the go ahead and if its all on there will be something put up on the home page here. Whats wrong with the hornet as I dont think that you actually said it and if you say you binned it be prepared for more shit.
Fook me, just looked at it for the first time and I'm buying a lotto ticket, I want it!!!

Just like to interject on the warm toasty tone of this thread...
I can't really relate to either Mac boi's or Inlinefour's freak accident experiences but the most I've ever spent in a hospital was a week, and that was pretty much enough to drive me nuts.
Good on you both for putting things back in perspective and life is fucking tops!
not with those leathers son!
He might do but I never said anything about my minature collection of sprotbikes. Must be about 100 of them in storage (I shit you not) and one we move into the new pad I'll be getting them out again. At one stage I had 15 but someone wanted the waterbus badly and it got silly not to take the money. Had a ratbike I made out of a ts50er, there is a thread I made with pics to confirm. Sold it on tardme for a buck reserve, funny how people do the bidding war shit and pay too much. Had my accident the day before I was to deliver it, but the trader decided I had a fairly good excuse...
Oh, if your wondering what the half is, it was a Z50J monkey bike.

no! stop!
his "shed" is packed enough as it is with useless rust frames and water-filled engines! nearly had to build him a loft last time i was there to make enough room to work on my bike
plus with new pocket rocket arriving soon he won't be able to close the bloody door!
