Its not the diesels that need banning but the owners for not being a responsible owner and keeping them tuned (diesel pump, injectors and clean oil)

If i start seeing smoke in my mirrors I run a bottle of injector cleaner, injectors have been done.

Now lets get serious here.... should we ban blowhard drifting boy racer homo's?
    cheers DD

    Talking

The more Diesel's on the road the better.
Especially if the Police have them issued to them.
    Think about it.
    Diesel Cage verses Bike?
Who is going to get out of the trouble spot faster?
yeap more diesels, more fuel availabile for bikes.

You obviously arnt familiar with Road User Charges, the govt all ways gets its tax and just because it is cheaper at the pump doesnt mean that they are cheaper to run.

Modern deisels are highly efficent, and as long as they are serviced regulary they are fine (reminds me to go book in a service for the ute)
yea i am. I own a deisel car!
but you get more out of a litre of deisel than petrol. generally.

It's only old crappy diesel engines that are a problem.

All new diesels (TDI, etc.) observe modern emission standards. Diesel engines are still one of the most efficient (if indeed not the most efficient) engine design to date. There is no viable alternative...

No, diesels should not be banned.

Diesels might put out more particulates but their gas emissions are not as bad as those from petrol engines.

I love diesels, {notice how the word die sel is spelt}?

Well said Dangerous - ban those little tossers. As far as the trucks etc go, I have had a few days riding to work where I felt sick after being fumed out on the way down the motorway.

It seems some of these new diesel cars are pretty "clean" compared to older ones. Not sure though of the benefits once you pay for RUC on top of the fuel then add in the high cost of servicing a diesel car.. I wonder if they really are worth it in the end.

Hey Toto! Do you write the Stuff polls? Because they're about as well thought out as this one.

What should be banned are morons with diesels not looking after them properly...

007XY has got a system going on his Series 80 Landcruiser which injects a small amount of LPG into the burning chamber of the diesel (or somewhat...gawd knows, I'm a chick alright!), which means he gets more boost (), and the diesel burns a lot better, reducing the emissions of his vehicle

Being an engineer, and very conscious of the environment (without being a tree hugger), he is always making sure things run smoothly. He's also considering getting his whole system transferred to LPG. Given how much the price of fuel is getting to be, it'll be worth the change over.
