    Ivan's VMCC RD2

Get to track just after 7:30 unload gear bags and it turns out that our water supply had leaked about 4 litres of water into my gear bag soaking my leathers.
Head off to sign on and then go and see Robert Taylor to pick up my Ohlins,

Day gets off to a bad start by being to much of a mission to get the out the old rear shock to replace with Ohlins and at this point I manage to put battery in round the wrong way. Which in turn pops the main fuse to starter and we spend 10 minutes trying to chase it back to fuse and then go to replace fuse and turns out fuses we have are wrong kind after a piece of lock wire is formed into a fuse young Jay Kindly gives me a spare fuse to do the job properly.
I manage to miss Derek Hill Super Sport Qualifying and end up making it to Pro Twins Qualifying with my leathers still full of water.

    Qualifying:

Head out onto track and get a clear bit of track and put some laps in pit board telling me my lap times wernt that good Qualifying with a best time of 1:24.
During this session I noticed a big front end push through turn 2 which turned out to be tire pressures all wrong after Speaking o Andrew Lawrence he gave me the correct pressures to try out. I manage to Qualify 18th out of 35

    Race 1:

Line up on grid for the race lights go up to fully red I increase the revs lights go out ride clutch of line to get a cracker start but end up revving on the spot Shit I’m sill in neutral quickly click into gear bikes shooting past me SV cranks a massive Wheelstand of the line nailing down into turn 1 I manage to pick a few bikes up the inside and go through into turn 2 chasing down a silver 400 I end up getting him on the second lap around the outside at turn 2 and up the inside at turn 3 but he quickly picks bike up giving me no room but to run straight off line. Try gain some ground back up through the esses and into chicane and then catch onto his draft down Dennis Hulme straight into higgens trail braking in back on gas hard quick quiver from rear onto back straight shoot into draft out and under brakes into Dunlop sweeper up the inside running hot through here I run off my lien and hi the massive bumps which really unsettle front end onto main straight cracking throttle wide and see Red Flags out quickly put hand up and circulate until I could get to infield.

Race 1 Restart was restarted with 4 laps.
This time I get a cracker start of line jumping about 2 rows up the grid into turn 1 quit tight entrance to turn 1 sees me not have much initial corner speed but luckily the sv has a good Power spread and rockets out of bend quite nicely. Manage to get up to 11th overall in track positioning including F3 grid and getdown top a best lap time of 1:21 which equalled my best recorded 125 time,

After a long lunch break they decide to run 1 12 lap race instead of 2 6 lappers.
    Race 2:

Line up on grid once again get a cracker launch these things are so easy to launch after racing 125’s
Into turn 1 I get a few bikes and end up in a battle with the silver 400 once again this time there is also the Ducati to deal with which judging from its straight-line speed its goner be a mission to get past manage to get by both of them by about lap 4 dad had lap board out letting me know 9th position on track and was giving me a hand signal which I thought meant hurry up there behind you but meant back off you’ve got 6 second gap but me keep pushing as hard as I can. By about lap 6 the tires are really screwed as running the GSXR750 shock completely destroyed the rear tire as the settings are all wrong lap 12 comes and last lap flag is shown I shoot across start line and into turn 1 gas hard on exit and get a bit of rear spin from rear tire through turn 2 I hit the bump which unsettles front end and then as I’m changing down for turn 3 I feel the front slide away then the rear next thing I know thud on the ground look over and see bike sliding and sparking away I apparently got up whilst moving and tumbled back over again then jumped up grabbed my tether kill switch which had come off bike and off me jumped into grass were I end up falling over in pain as I manage to pop my leg out from the joint
After what seemed like ages I jump up and hop back to bike and grab it by this stage Marshall is running across to help em but iv got the thing back up and trying to get it going again which when I did it was flooded form being on its side and had broken the gear selector so had to ride back to pits in 4th gear must have clicked up a gear when it crashed.

    Any who

    Boring read Yip

    Thanks to

    Mum and Dad

Bloody well done on the 1.21 lap Ivan - that's great and will only get better with more experience on the bike, and a decent suspension set up as well.

It was only unfortunate for Sam that he crashed out of SS1.

I will be trying to improve my suspenders as well - get em a bit stiffer I reckon.

The big pogo stick that they are.

Ive got a gixxer 750 shock in it dont think the settings are right for SV and wha a mess the rear tire is on my bike looks liek the rubber has benn swept into a pile the heat gunned onto my tire its just a disugsting mess so just when I thought I had payed off my racing debt for a month it seems I will be onto a another set of Conti Race Attacks and gonna redoe the front end suspension as that isnt right im bottiming the suspension onto the bottom of the tripple clamps
No wonder the massive gauge on the front straight felt so horrible

Not boring Ivan - I've never read so much action in 3 sentences and 2 breaths! Shoulda bought my shock tho - would've been in ya bike a week ago and saved some drama. Geez Sam was going fast aye? (maybe too fast) - and Jarod and Geoff have picked it up too so you and Dean have your work cut out (me 2 in a couple of months).
Hope ya legs ok and good luck for rnd 3.

Why you put in a shock that was built for a GSXR NOT a SV?

    Shit Ivan.
Great write up and sounds like you managed to salvage some good stuff out of a bloody challenging day. There's no way I'll be doing 1:21 once my bike is running proper again. I will have to find someone else to play with I s'pose.
