Sad - but at least that was an accident - unlike this case where it was permediated. and the one in Kaeo, and the one in Karaka a couple of weeks ago - and http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/...ectid=10518466 this one today.
Fucken hell.

17 years is at least an improvement on what we usually see. There was a recent case of Laxman Rajamani who had a history of abusing his wife, culminating in him smashing her on the head with a brick then as she tried to escape him he grabbed her from behind and slit her throat. He pled not guilty and his defense was that she 'provoked' him. He got found guilty and he got *12 years*.
The argument is often that murderers don't re-offend and deserve another chance and that seems to be what our sentences reflect. Car thieves, burglars we can give chances to, sometimes 100 or so before they get a sentence that reflects the damage they cause, but murder?
They've killed someone, ending their existence and chance of life permanently, their family have their lives destroyed and will never get over it and yet the justice system seems to think these people deserve another chance? Kill someone when your 20 and your out when your 32 a bit of an inconvenience having to spend a few years in jail but thats really all it is.
Either guillotine or electric chair....ive got jumper leads...need some steel cable to hook them up to the nearby powerlines and kill the fucker![]()
My bass is such a slapper.......I cant stop fingering those strings
killing a right cunt like this is too quick 20 years hard labour at the meanest place you can find .bread and water thats it no tv no nothing and hope he gets killed while hes working.
I think you'll find that your imagination will prove lacking if you were ever to study some of the methods the Spanish Inquisition came up with.
Yes, that is a tragic story. Took place about 200 meters from where I am sitting right nowAngry teens should just not be allowed near high-powered vehicles!
Nah, NZ has got plenty of mountains and steep cliffs. Let gravity do the job - it's free as well.
I don't understand why they don't utilise the fact that there are some quite profitable coal veins on the west coast. Seems like the perfect site for a labour camp.(and no, I don't mean the political party's annual outing.)
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)
Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. - Joseph Rotblat
Two dead and he gets 17 years? What a terrible joke... He should get LIFE, forever, not coming out again. So, in 12-13 years, he'll be out on the streets? And two people are dead. The victims have no chance to live again, he shouldn't ever be released. No justice there at all.

yeah i heard the story...unfortunately the media hasn't got a hold of it so there wont be much coverage, so he will get off light, which is a shame.
I had a few acquaintances that were hit and had met janes older brother chris young at a music gig one time (he's a lead singer)...what a nice guy, i mean really, my brother and I just chatted to him about stuff and he came across as just this real down to earth nice chap, it's a shame such a tragic thing had to happen to such a nice guy.
While I think the guy got all he deserves, I have to wonder, what would have been the sentence, especially in Christchurch, if the driver was a white guy and the victims were two PI girls...?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
