Actually its already appeared in this thread at least once before your post, but good on ya
Strangely, theres been just as much moaning about mac users in this thread. Might be time to change the record huh?The run down on the one thing that PC users can do that Mac users can't is also quite interesting (Shut the fuck up!).
"If life gives you a shit sandwich..." someone please complete this expression
Blah blah, Mac and PC users both suck, next news flash
How about the iPhone Nano? There has been the odd rumor... you guys think they'll make a 'girls' (something about back pockets and fine arses apparently) version of the iPhone? If so, before or after the iPhone Gen2?

Hi There
I have just returned from the USA this morning.
Prior to my leaving, a guy at work had an iPhone that had been JailBreaked/Unlocked on v1.0.2 - I was instantly impressed with this little piece of technology, & decided I wanted one.
So, in the USA they are now available via the Apple Stores (and online) for USD$399 +local taxes, with a maximum purchase of 2 per Customer - credit card only - more on this in a sec...
So I popped down to the Apple Store located in the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, grabbed myself a pair of these things (after telling a white lie about how I had just moved to the USA in the previous 4 days, hence my ID was NZ etc).
I then set to work - these had v1.1.1 loaded on them, and as luck would have it, there were plenty of online resources telling you which was the best thing to do to unlock them bla bla bla...
I farked around with the first one for about 8 hours, following various instructions to the letter, then I happened across the iphonesimfree.com site.
For around $USD 60.00, they provided me with instructions on how to Jailbreak/Unlock the v1.1.1 phones - and bugger me if it didnt work first time... BIG UPS to these guys...
Simply put, you dont use a PC/Mac at all - you go thru a manual "dialling" of numbers to get into the phone - set up your WiFi, off to a URL, and away you go from there.
took all of 10 mins, and worth every cent I say...
The Itunes software should be v7.4.x - do not upgrade this if asked - also decline any request to upgrade the firmware to v1.1.2...
I have the v1.1.1 restore file too, in case I screwed up the unlock, so I could go back to out-of-box if required.
So, I ended up buying 6 of these iPhones (1 for me, one for the missus, 2 for a couple of people at work, one more "possible" sale - this guy may not have the money, and another that MAY end up on Trademe)
I note that Parallel Imported are selling these for 1100 bucks unlocked (not sure of the Firmware, its likely to be 1.0.2)
If you take into account the USD prices I paid, I would be more than happy (should I put this up on Trademe) to walk away with $900... unlocked, v1.1.1...
Now back to the purchasing experience...
The first 2 I got from Cherry Creek, went back there a couple of days later and managed to get another 2 without any questions asked.
On Friday US Time, just before i headed to the airport to come home, I went to another Apple Store to get the last 2 - then I got pulled up as their system stated I had already used this paricular credit card to buy an iPhone.
Quickly I came up with this story about how I had placed an order online, and then canceled it - that could be the reason (knowing full well it was bullshit) - they bought my "excuse" and out I walked with another 2...
Looks like AT&T up there have been getting a bit snaky with the numbers of phones sold, and number of activations actually taking place.
I read somewhere that of the 1.2 million iPhones sold in the first 3 months, up to 250,000 were not activated with AT&T - so pretty quickly they imposed these restrictions on numbers etc.
So, that was my experience last week - they are a pretty cool device these iPhones!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...
dude .. .that's like sooo last week
so you haven't upgraded to 1.1.2 yet?
Following years of research, Steve Jobs from Apple has annouced the latest innovation in MP3 technology. The new MP3 player is implanted into womens breasts and has been codenamed the i-boob. Apparently for many years women have been complaining that men keep looking at their breasts rather than listening to them.
Im thinking of getting one , has any one here get one if so..
is the GPS a real gps or just a map system?

Not alot of answers, so I'll just say that I believe that the GPS system they use requires the use of 3G antennaes/transmitters and I think its kinda expensive as a result. Maybe that answer will suffice until a user comes along.
Honestly, better off finding an iPhone site... too many witless comedians here mate.
It has a real GPS inside - but the problem with GPS is that it is fairly slow to get a lock and doesn't work so well in cities where there is often no clear line of sight.
So the iPhone first queries the cell-towers to triangulate its position. If that fails then it tries to get a signal directly from the satellites.
