I know bringing up kids isn't easy (I'm a father of two teenagers) but you CAN do a good job of it (without getting jam in your hair) if you don't support their drug habits (if in fact they develop one) and you smack their bums when they get out of line while they're toddlers. After that you don't have to smack them, they know their boundaries and you can get on with being their mates and supporting them.

I know there's no book on parenting but it doesn't take a genius to doa half decent job. (I'm living proof....)

Good, cheers. So how come, if so many of us agree on the old ways (crime/time etc) why t/f don't our 'leaders' (who we pay) step up to the plate? I see heaps of posts from people here who share these sentiments and we are just a small cross-section of NZ. I bet there are plenty more kiwis with the same mindset who would back stiffer penalties for serious crime, a 'three strikes' policy for petty shit, harsher prisons etc.

The system cant be held solely responsable the up bringing of WWW is a direct result of his mums, her up bringing is a result of her parents... its a circle and the answer to breaking it is the golden question.

Well here I have an issue; it's possible the fathers had some semblence of a brain, they all left.

However, if you dip your wick you have a responsibility for the end result should there be one.

I left my missus but I didn't leave my kids and thankfully they can see that and see why. However, my circumstances didn't result in a drug-crazed f*%#wit running amok in the streets.
