much better work i have to say than their last album
i cant wait for more from them to make a full decision but anything is better than st anger
I've learnt to hide the pain inside, open the throttle and ride away.
Bob Seger's "Turn The Page" is great.

Anyone noticed the digitised/manipulated vocals in the first minute of the song?
Has to be the weakest stunt yet pulled by these guys, Its a new low.
That aside, The songs all right, Gets better the further along it gets, I just can't respect a band cheating on the vocals. Not interested in fake.
Never liked Metallica much before.. opinion hasn't changed..
It does get better as it goes along but never quite good enough.
Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
For the Devil sends the beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
Reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty six.

That's the dilemma about popular music: (and yes, Metallica too is a popular band...)
"Aim low and keep the fans satisfied for ever."
or
"Aim high and fade away."
No other choices really...
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)
Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. - Joseph Rotblat
Dude, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions about the digitising, remember you are hearing a streaming version of the song so the quality is shit anyway. After listening to a high quality MP3 since 11AM yesterday (About 50 times, give or take) I can safely say there aint no digitising in that song anywhere.
I ride the dirt, I ride the tide
I search the outside, search inside
I know I'll always burn to be
Remind me of what left this outlaw torn

I bought the single on iTunes and it's distorted the whole way thru....sounds like bad encoding! So don't waste yer $1.79 just yet...have lodged a support enquiry so it might just be a fukkup that will be fixed soon.
I have read around the place that there are 2 versions on the net, apparently one low quality one released with bad encoding on purpose for some reason and one "proper" version - anyone know anything about that?
You are literally the only person I know who hears it. I have tried really hard to hear it, I just can't. I've mentioned it to a few other people who also cannot hear it. You must obviously have a dodgy high quality version of the song.....I personally don't think James Hetfield would ever allow any kind of digitising to be done on a MetallicA song, if you knew the band you would know that.

That was great, slow to start off with, but once they were into it, AWESOME!!!!
"I came into this game for the action, the excitement... go anywhere, travel light,... get in, get out,... wherever there's trouble, a man alone... Now they got the whole country sectioned off; you can't make a move without a form."
Paved roads are just another example of wasted tax payer dollars.
Aye?
Extensive use of pro-tools was used on St Anger and Bob Rock has acknowleged the use of auto-tuning of vocals and instuments on both the load albums.
I'd guess you would know that if you knew the band.......
anyway, a bit of reading for you

The discussion on tuned vocals starts on the prior page I believe.
