Tick all the boxes...be an informal voter...
I am simple, so I should be sweeet as! Can I say I hate MMP as a voting option?
I think if everyone really understood how the system works presently, things would change. I have a sitting National MP in a National stronghold as my MP. My vote would never change the status quo, if I voted for or against him. He is my electorate representative reality no matter what.
MMP dictates the party vote is the core of government. Party vote for Government, Electorate vote for MP. Pain in the arse..dumbest system ever!
They obviously missed my vote at referendum time...LOL
No, no, no!
You're not splitting your vote.
NZers aren't involved in the machines that run the political parties anywhere as much as they need to be. Most European countries have this thing called voting blocs. Many parties will trade votes from their own members away to other parties to ensure that the subsequent coalition Govt has the capacity to rule as a majority and to ensure that Govts made up from the same part of the Political spectrum have a broader depth of commitment to their voters.
Splitting your Vote would be an electorate vote for a Labour candidate and a list vote for National. They're never going to be coalition partners.
Sharpen up folks, you have an opportunity coming up.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Come on, you're better than that. That's the problem with NZers in general. They've never had their lives whipped out from under them, so they don't value the opportunity MMP gives them. Why do you think proportional systems are favoured in European countries?
FPP just creates electoral corruption in the form of gerrymandering and given Auckland's continued growth an incumbent Government can very easily win more seats with less votes, much like National did for a big chunk of the 20th Century. Farmers used to rule this country with ease, effectively creating a situation where our biggest city is slowly strangling on its own lack of infrastructure.
Everyone seems happy to blame the "Gubbmint" for Auckland's woes, but the underlying factors that created it have long been forgotten. Urban centres were under represented for most of the 20th Century and so didn't get the resources or development planning resources they needed.
Instead of bleating about the current voting system (I prefer Australia's preferential voting system btw) it can be used very much in our favour, IF we chose to.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
You'd be incredibly stupid to do that, because that won't get Rodney into parliament twice, will it?
Come on, THINK! ACT is a minority party, always will be, especially with Roger back in the fold at number 3. Your best bet is to vote Rodney in as Electorate MP and give your list to National. ACT & National as a Coalition is pretty much any ACT voter's wet dream.

its interesting that in this little poll that as of now NZfirst has 5.45% of the vote which would see Peters still in a job
Also sees nats with 60% and enough to govenern on there own
Sorry too many things I don't trust Nat with:
Just for starts.
- Poss sale of Kiwi Bank
- Borrowing for tax cuts
- Encouraging Coal and Hydrocarbon Powered Power producation, instead of encouraging cleaner Power producation.
- Work for DPB
- Toll roads
So sorry but my vote is staying Labour. To bad they have had to do business with NZFirst, but I'm sure Winy will be Histroy by next election.

Come on James, facts are that the party vote determines the representation in Parliament if over 5% (not looking likely yet) or if you win an electorate. So if you're an ACT supporter in Rodders' patch and you want to maximise ACT representation you have to vote electorate to ensure your party vote counts. Simple.
Not sure that I agree with you there, Jim...
Auckland simply continues to grow faster than any of the 'powers-that-be' could and can imagine or plan for.
Of course, everyone knows that rural NZ is the envy of the Western world in terms of roading, power/gas/telecommunication infrastructure.![]()
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
