You can argue the causes till the cows come home, but it’s a fact that certain ethnicities are heavily overrepresented in violent crime statistics. Thus it’s reasonable to have correlation between ethnicity and dumb-arse actions.

Yup you can argue that for sure (unfortunately) but I still don't see how that justifies racist comments.

People who lack the necessary economic wherewithal will often resort to alternative measures to close the gap between themselves and the "haves". Buying a big fence, burglar alarm and a gun is not the answer. And taking cheap shots at the various ethic groups who are overrepresented in our crime statistics does nothing to solve the problem either. People have no choice as to who their parents are. It can't be much fun being a member of an underprivileged minority that is often the butt of redneck jokes.

I know plenty of maori who grew up with absolutely fuckall, and are now educated successfull people, so you'll have to forgive me if I think being born a certain ethnicity and poor is not a justification for theft and violence.

Every country and mostly everyone is guilty of racism in some form or another at some point in their lives, it boils down to how sensitive and limp wristed you are and how easily you get offended. When I was younger (8 years old) I was beaten up at school, in England, for being a racist South African, funny thing was I was born in England and only lived in South Africa for 2.5 years at that stage....at that age we were also taught how bad the Germans were for starting the wars.....fucking racist brits......fucking racist everyone....lol

I don't know if it justifies them, but IMHO it explains them. That correlation exists, people are more likely to experience violent crime at the hands of certain groups, and somewhat naturally become hostile to those groups and lashes out at them be it verball, physically, or in other subtler ways.

I'm with you there - as a third former (and pom) I got the bash from all the farmboys. My Maori friends couldn't work it out, they laughed and called me a Pommy Bastard, but stood up for me...

I think that the leap between acknowleding that for better or worse certain ethnicities are more likely to commit crime, and wanting to exterminate an entire ethnicity is rather a large one.
