    Proud parent

Very proud parent tonight. My oldest, Jessica, hit the stage for the first time tonight in a major musical production. She's starring as Marta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, a musical which is on at the Opera House in Wellington. She beat 75 other hopefuls for the role, and she's been rehearsing for three months solid. Here's an interview with the cast on TVNZ this morning: http://tvnz.co.nz/view/video_popup_flash_skin/2105646

    From her bio:

    Jessica Gallagher, Marta

A ten year old student at Paparangi School, Jessica is enjoying her role as Marta in her first major production. She is the youngest student studying singing with Lesley Graham. Jessica started performing with the Kidz Club when she was six years old, singing and dancing in productions regularly. She has played the lead role in her school productions of The Lorax and Wish to the Stars, loves to sing and dance and write her own songs. Jessica also loves to read, hang out with her friends and look after her three cats, fish and three horses. Her ambition is to become a professional singer and become a hit in the musical business.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Awesome Riffer!
    Congratulations to you all.

I say all, because I know that something like this takes huge committment from the folks as well...

Warmest congrats Simon, the feeling of being a proud parent is, IMHO, the greatest imaginable. Congrats too to Jessica - look forward to seeing her on the silver screen

Thats cool - you should be proud of yourself as well.

No kid - regardless of natural talent or hard work can acheive like that without the support and encouragement of good parents.

So pat yourself on the back as well!

    Congratulations to Jessica!
