Firefight, starting a thread about being stared down by others and specifying their race isn´t necessarily racist, commenting on crime statistics with regard to Polynesian or Maori isnt racist either. Its just facts. However it is the way that it is used and the language associated with it that makes the intention of the thread questionable. As a result of your language the thread has brought out the usual suspects (ignorants such as imdying and similar) who cannot resist the opportunity to jump in the bandwagon with their racist quips and rantings. Of course they try to dress it up as humour or cynicism or whatever. But realistically, their comments are more focused on degrading the race of your offenders, rather than their actions (staring you down). The thread, in its stupidity, rather embarrasses me in a world arena rather than it offends me as the title really reeks of racist tones.
I´ll freely admit, that as an ex patriot of many years, I find racism unacceptable and will always (predictably) oppose it. What dismays me the most is that in New Zealand I see a lot of (relatively) unfounded racism.
In the end mate, if being stared down is all you can bitch about, then life can´t be all that bad. Right?

Lifes great- and yeah I regretted the title straight away, but realised I couldn't change it.......There was no intention for it to sound racist, but sometimes there's no other way of putting things to get your point accross how you wanted it to sound.
