I'm getting a bit low. My stocks of island and Campbelltown malts aren't quite what they should be. Sigh.
What.................no Dalmore a true nectar of the malts.

Actually not quite what I was trying to say Skyrider - original Gordons is as good as ever it was. But what I get to sell here is NZ made and is indeed made as I said above. The exact wording is as follows:
"Bottled in New Zealand under licence using local neutral spirit and other ingredients imported from Great Britain for Diageo Australia Ltd....."

To me, it is like saying that locally 'brewed under licence' Stella or Heineken is the same as the original. It is not the same, it is different. It may well use the original recipe but local conditions do make a difference....same with the gin. The whole process of production is different so the end result is not identical. We have lots of products here that are sold under original labels that are not original product.......I once greatly upset a rep who told me "our heineken is the best heineken in the world!!" Apart from the fact that it either IS or IS NOT heineken and therefore should not vary, I told him I thought it was a JABAB...."What does that mean? he asked..."Just Another Bloody Auckland Beer"........he never came back again for some reason...and he had our Monteiths stand removed a couple of weeks later as well.....!!

When all is said and done however, I sell more Gordons than any other brand of gin, so maybe you have a point!

I like Bombay Sapphire, but I like mine with the rim of the glass dipped in lime juice.
However when you're pissed it's so much easier to keep it simple than demanding that the spirit you're about to further drown yourself in is of a particular brand etc, so all I really have to say is, "JD's and gingerale" is pretty easy to slur at anytime.

If I'm ever up your way I'll get a bottle. Intersting about the Heineken beer.

Sometime back I bought one of their small kegs made in the Netherlands anway another guy had the NZ bottled variety. The difference was realy noticable.

Yes, it IS isn't it...same with Stella - I had some genuine from an importer - we compared them side by side - wayyyy different......I get really annoyed when beers go 'local' and are brewed under licence.....specially when dickheaded reps behave like the one I mentioned.....talk about arrogant! Still, he is no longer a rep anyway....funnily enough....

Okay, I'm probably totally out of whack with the current topic of conversation on this thread but (seeing as Gin is my spirit of choice) I have to disagree with ya Dan that Bombay is "the best" Gin. I find Plymouth is my Gin of choice, as little drier than Bombay. Bombay would be my 2nd choice though.

    Carry on.

p.s I do like a bit of lemon in mine. I definitely use Schweppes Indian Tonic Water.

May I suggest a drink for all of you g&t drinkers, especially those who love the botanicals of gin, and also those who like high octane levels.

    Green chartreuse and tonic.

VERY yummy, lots of spicy herbal flavours. No lemon, please. Schweppes, of course.

As a girly I drink mine at more of a 30/70% mix, but you gentlemen may like a stronger drink. Lovely and refreshing on a hot summer afternoon..
