Appalled residents watch youths run down cat

group of Wanganui residents watched in horror as two youths on motorcycles deliberately ran over a cat in the suburb of St John's Hill.


"They purposely ran over the cat, yelling `yaaaay' and `yahoo' as the little cat flew up in the air like a leaf then landed on the road. It died instantly," Janet Lewis told the Wanganui Chronicle.

The incident happened Parkes Ave on Friday about 7.45pm.

Mrs Lewis said she was so incensed she ran after the bikes.

"I really wanted to tell them exactly what I thought of what they had done."

The cat, which was about two years old, was the pet of people a few doors down, she said.

Wanganui SPCA spokeswoman Val Waters said it was absolutely disgusting behaviour and totally unnecessary.

Couple years ago we had some fuckwit young cager lived somewhere close by who specialised in running over cats......then neighbourhood watch got in on the act and he "disappeared"........good job.

more seriously - it does show the behaviour of a disturbed person to do something like this - you simply cannot be normal and hurt a poor animal like that.

It really should be the case of preventative detention of little pricks like this because (very sadly) mdnzz is probably right - they will end up doing harm to others
