Spool leathers?

I have done a quick search on the net with not much success, managed to get one very positive review though. I'm interested on what the opinion of Spool leather gear is? Quality gear, good, bad?

The fabric stuff is a little dodgy (mabey not the same for the leather), breaks easily but works okay in crashes.

I'm looking at some alpinestars leather... take a look at them as well.. seem quite good.

have a look at spyke leathers.
from memory they are a bit cheaper than some others but they have some awsome protection. real sturdy like.

alpinestars are pretty good though

The reason I want this Spool suit is because its very soft and will allow great flexibility which is exactly what I'm after. The particular suit I'm keen on is inteded for supermotard apparently.

I've looked at Spyke and Alpinestars gear and I believe they are better than Spool but to be honest I can't afford the high price tags they come with. The Spool looks like a real good value for money so just curious as to how good a quality they are from those who have experience with the brand.

In saying this, any full leather is better than none.

Yo dave, i've got a set of spool one peice, and for the money i paid

they're bloody good, and for the money you'd pay they're just as good, the new version out RS2 or some shit like that, looks cool with the twin zips, prolly buy one of these next year.
To give you a run down:

Crashed TL at puke, slowish speed in the gravel trap (some smart cunt will prolly post the pic), leathers dirty but sweet, me all good too.
Crashed TL out Waihi/Whangamata, 90kph low side, leathers scuffed but intact, me all good.
Crashed TL, rather high speed, up near the 200kph mark going over backwards from a fucked up wheelie, i hit the deck hard and tumbled down the road for a fair distance. Holes in arse, both elbows, kness, stitching apart on chest, small area on back and thigh. They held up pretty well considering, and were repaired back to normal by Kerri at MSW for a mere $250, only i had put on a fair bit of weight and they didn't fit to well, next time i tried wearing them, doh.
The only real damage to me other than bruising, was that i broke bones in both my hands.
Really chances are i would've been dead if i wasn't wearing leathers, cordura/kevlar just dont cut it for me, i couldn't give a shit if it's lighter and more breathable, fuck it, it's your life at the end of the day.
Spool is good and i dont think you have to spend $3000 plus on the likes of Spyke, Dainese, Astars etc. if you got the money go for it.
On another note, spend some serious money on gloves, your hands are the most vunerable part on your body (as i found out), reckon one of the best value gloves around are the Teknic Violaters, around the $200 mark, i was wearing Astar GP plus when i crashed, they did well and i dont think asy glove could've prevented what happened to me, but the Astars are still $300+.

From the looks of the pics I’d say I have the same set as loosebruce! I’m really disappointed with mine... I came off at ruanpuna doing about 60k, skidded on the tarmac and then the grass, they split at the seam in 4 places, they only have shitty singly stitching in most parts, and the stitching is not inner seam its outer so when u do scrub the deck they come out real easy and peal apart, imagine if u hit the deck at 100k, you’d have some serious rash!!! I wouldn’t buy another pair nor do I recommend that type to anyone, in fact when I can I shall be ditching mine and getting something with triple or double inner seam stitching like Joe rocket, I even know of a team that were asked by spool if they would want sponsorship, after the team looked at the gear they said only if you make the stitching better, they didn’t, so they are sponsored by alpine stars now.

So all up, I wouldn’t get them, unless u don’t go over 40k and you don’t mind some serious road rash!
