No it originates because of a high employment rate (job availability). Have you tried to find
staff lately. Ask any SME how hard it is to find staff.

We have major skills shortages as well in our sector, and this is driving the gubbinment to allow the senior members of our society to work for longer. Not the ideal situation to be in instead of having your feet up and enjoying retirement...

...i remember pig dog jenny shipply going on the dole for a week but the truth is im sure her freezer was full ,her power was up to date,and her car was registered!!!!however she did have kids and bought in the family support increases ..if your child is over 14 ect.....helen the pug dog has no kids and has no real grasp of what it is to just live day to day..and as for low unemployment ..everyone is taking part time jobs just to survive as the bloody contracts act has pretty well screwed most workers....so of course it looks good on paper!!!

the treaty of waitangi is a joke....i watch maori tv and all they ever do is bitch and moan and want more..and teach their young to establish a state of apherteit in nz!!!!!!

whenare our leaders gunna stop with all the kindergarten tactics they play in our parliment and get down to the business of listening to all the people of this wonderful country instead of taking credit on the backs of hard working folk.........(whatever colour or creed)

It's only people that are on a reasonable wage or have too many morals that would even want to work. Why spend 8 hours a day slaving away for someone else when you can rest on your laurels and get paid a good amount NOT to work. Claim a bad back, a gammy leg, or pop out a couple of sprogs, its easier than going to job interviews and turning up to work at 8am every day.

Benefits for able bodied people should be a stop gap measure to help them get back on their feet, not a way of life.

Don't you mean the "Employment relationship act"?

Most people had never ever actually read the "Employment contracts act" let alone understood it.

It was a very small document of just a few easy to understand pages, the rest was about how to deal with personal grievances as applied to industrial law of the time.

I have not read the Employment relationships act (Labours act) at all as I had retired when it was passed.

I admit bias but I would expect it to be a very wordy document.

.....well all i know is ya have to have a contract of some sort otherwise the employer can go for a skate.... but if you opt into a collective then you may have all ya penal rates.redundancies and allowances written out of them..and that is why more pople are taking xtra jobs on or two income families as theres no xtra pay for weekend work in most cases..if you go for a individual contract you may be able to negitiate different pay rates and terms.......

But whatever you do, do NOT associate our recent economic boom with Labour's effectiveness. Economies run in cycles, and there has been a boom. It's made labour look great [to garden slugs] - anyone can look good when everythings rosy. Bring on the recession and lets see how good a job that corrupt, lying, two-faced, hypocritical trout does then.

And NZ will go into recession too,regardless of who is in control of the country,as you say,ecconomies run in cycles.A better government will have better damage control - but we won't be an island of plenty amid a starving world.
