    Cost of racing in supersport.

I am just trying to decide weather I can afford to race or not, I have a rough Idea of how much each meet will cost but how much do you guys spend on each meet? I am just talking about the money you spend to race, not travel expenses and food.
    Thanks.

So far? stupid amounts, cause I am getting set up. If I don't count all that,
    $75.00 Race fees
    $200.00 Tyres wear (approx)
$100.00 Oil, filter, lockwire, brake pads etc
    $30.00 Fuel for the day

And then you would have to factor in regular maintenance, replacement parts for minor crashes, bolts etc, random tools needed, chains, warmers, generator, blah blah blah. Every time thus far I have ended up spending near on a grand total.

tyre wear is probably over the top thinking about it, and second hand tyres would cut that significantly.
Also have to budget for test days to get the most out of yourself and the bike.

Talking to Nicko the longest he got out of a set of tyres, 5 races.
At nationals you have to race on the tyres you qualified on, not sure what that is gonna do exactly, but I am planning on a set of tyres per race weekend.

nope that was 5 race meetings! 30 races plus practice sessions plus a couple of weekends road riding on a set of tyres on the old 98 gixxer 6hundy. wouldn't recommend running your tyres that long tho, not much grip on the canvas.

as an indication all up i budget on $500 a club meet & $1000 a national meet. one of my old budgets is below for a couple of events. gets cheaper the better setup you get and the less you crash/blow up but more expensive the more competitive you want to get.

Most interesting! I had an idea it would cost around those prices, but like you guys say, it's worth every penny. And why not put money into something you love so much? Of course aside from the monetary costs there is a heap of TIME involved in the sport too!

Reckon if you work out and think about how much it cost you would'nt do it! I have no idea how much I have spent so far, i'm sure i'd cry if I knew. Deffo a lot cheaper once you have all the gears you need, spares etc, and umm, not crashing helps a lot... apparently.
