I am not getting into the argument about solo mums at all. My Mum was a solo mum cause my Dad died. But I really despair about the messages that Keisha is sending to young girls. It was really interesting on TV tonight that everyone supported her and her supportive family. However are they all going to be there when the child turns 5, 10, 15!!

    Hmmm

I don't see what all the comotion is about, Keisha and her boyfriend have been togeather since 2003 which for a 'teenager' is quite a long time to be in a relationship. She has three up-comming roles in feature movies and the last time I heard she had established a clothing label with her mother Desrae.

The chances of her going on the DBP, despite being part Maori and a teenager, are extremely slim, in my opinion at least.

More and more all I see on this web site is commentary from ignorant and racist individuals. Cracking a joke is all good, but what the fuck is with all this hate shit?

The only 'significantly' wealthy person I see contributing to this thread is Finn, the rest of you, under assumption, are all pimp squeaks earning fuck all every week slogging your guts out.

You're dumb monkeys going no where. Stop judging people based on insecurities with the decisions you've made in your own life.

Well I wouldn't think that her family would shit on her on national TV. Of course there's nothing wrong with solo mums as long as it's for geniune reasons and it's not a lifestyle choice as is the case so often. My mother was a solo mum and look at me. Perfect in every way.

Nice one SwanTiger, she's going to make heaps selling her story to WomansDay or WomansWeekly as we look at the baby pics, then there would be the wedding pics as we sit in some waiting room reading her life story.

Yeah, I can see at least $1,000,000 NZD in potential earnings. $250,000 for baby pictures, $250,000 for the 'my new life story', $250,000 for the 'why we broke up story' and another $250,000 for the 'we're back togeather' story.

If she's smart, banks the money and then moves it into semi-low risk investments, the return per annum is going to be around 11% which is $110,000.

If I was her I'd buy $1 million worth of bonus bonds in $20 lots. Bound to hit that $300 k jackpot at least once! If I didn't win the $300k that year I'd feel sorry for myself and go buy a new ZX14 to help me feel better

Excuse me I never, ever said anything racist, or about DPB!!! I am not ignorant, bigoted or a racist. I am just stating a fact about how young people see role models - be they pregnant, anorexic or rich!! They are role models. I see the same thing with our so called rugby heroes that get pissed and assault people. If you are a role model act like one!!! If you want to be in the lime light go for it.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here but I doubt most 16yrs will be thinking what a great idea. I can see it now "Well if Keisha's going to have a baby I better start fucking". Like horny teenagers need that as a reason.

As for DPB where was it said she's going on that?
A Bad role model, I can think of worse.

To be honest as we don't know her personally, why should we care.
    Does she ride a motorbike?

The scary thing is that with the length of relationships, in our current day and age, she will be rid of the "man in her life" (or vice versa) within a very short time.

It doesn't even show up - New Zealand is actually very well thought of outside of New Zealand - your crimerate is really really really fucken low. Back home the same shit that is done by your lower socio-econimic groups is done much more regularly, much more violently and at a much younger age by WHITE people in a very low socio-economic group - it just seems to be coincidental that these people are of pacific or Maori descent in New Zealand.

Whale rider was a little movie from a little country that won an award - famous for a week - now forgotten by people who haven't been to New Zealand.

    Brutal but true.

Did you know that most of the French can't even remember where the Rainbow Warrior got sunk?

As well as the total care for 2 young children, I have to do ALL the chores around the house, plus mow the lawns & do the gardens etc. plus being a student at Polytech! I went to see Steve Biddulph, who wrote the books "Raising Boys' & 'The secrets of happy children' & in his seminar he said.. "being a parent is like having a full time job, being a SOLO parent, is like having 2 full time jobs.. CONSECUTIVELY"!!!! I had to take my 4 year old son to A & E at midnight last Sunday, with a serious delayed allergic reaction.. we were there for 2 & 1/2 hours before we could come home.. he was back up again at 8.30 am.. as was I.. I had no one to help me all day Monday with a cranky 4 year old, while I was like a walking zomby myself from a serious lack of sleep.. & you claim.. "a solo mum does very well, for NOTHING". I would like to see you come here & do my JOB for a week.. then, & only then, you might have some sort of right to comment on the life of a solo mother!!
Hey, without attacking you or being nasty, I would just like you to appreciate one thing.(If you are on the DPB)

As a Taxpayer they have every right to comment on the life of a solo mother on the DPB!

If you are a solo mom on the DPB, we have a right to comment because "WE" are paying for you and it was "NOT" our choice to do that, it was "YOURS".

Please just remember that, even if you have been badly treated by some absconding male "non provider" we may have sympathy for your situation but "we" still get the bill for it and "we" have had no say in the decisions that "you" made for "us".

Anything that is "free" in this world means that someone "else" is paying for it! Yes that is "us" the Taxpayers.

A thank you would be nice rather than your scathing attack (above) on your benefactors! Cheers John.

PS: Yes the life of a solo mother (parent) must be very very difficult! It is not for me to judge about that!
