Dunno about not getting caught... I think it's more a sign they either don't care about any punishment coming their way - i.e. it's not significant enough, or they hadn't thought about the consequences (there's a new thing... NOT)

Its interesting that its taken _4 months_ for any complaint to be made, and then shes only said it was rape after the DVD came out. I saw something on one of the myspace profiles related to the boys along the lines of a statement she consented at the time and shes lying now.. Cant help but think given its taken 4 months maybe its a case of she agreed to it, and then once her parents/friends saw the dvd she said it was rape. Sure as hell wouldnt be the first time.

It wouldn't be the first time a victim of sexual violence has stayed quiet through shame or guilt either. I know of people that stayed quiet for 5 years. They were no less victims after that time, and the perp was no less guilty.

The facts - it happened, there is a DVD recording what happened (or part of it) and if the girl, her parents or other concerned/involved parties want the court to look at it... go for it.

Yea it is appaulling to see this kind of thing happening. But i do have to disagree with anyone who thinks Jackass or CKY has anything to do with this happening as mentioned they are willing participants in their own pranks and don't do anything as bad as this.

It is good to hear on the news that alot of parents have turned their kids in, good on them.

All we can hope for now is that the courts use their full power on these buggers and maybe some of the other prisoners will sort them out for what they have down.

Hard to say exactly what was going on out of frame BUT - this whole thing is sooooo far over the line that it does not matter. Even if this was made in hollywood by famous actors I would still be seriously bent out of shape about it, not only because I have daughters myself but because this sort of needless crap threatens our hard won freedoms.

Rape is always wrong, I'm not disputing it. Hell I'm pro-death peanlty for rapists and serious sexual offenders if you've read some of my other posts. The thing is thou that until I see the video with my own eyes, or a jury of reasonable people finds them guilty of it I'm not prepared to jump on the "hang draw and quarter" bandwagon. Far too often I've seen in the papers that a woman has been arrested for making a false rape complaint, and the fact that this wasnt complained about till 4 months after the event and only when it came out on DVD makes alarm bells go off in my head. If these kids did what they are accused of, fine punish them accordingly, but this is just trial by media at the moment with what would appear to be some bloody big "danger will robinson" alarms going off about the evidence.

Incidently I find it ironic to be playing devils advocate and supporting potential rapists given my normal views on these things.. But something just doesnt sit well with this one.

They had clips from it on tv last night. it was plainly obvious there was nothing consentual about it, and like a young girl in her situation is going to be able to stand up to a group of these little fuckers at the time. Taking advantage of someone who's moderately disabled in the way they did, and then having the nerve to video it and sell it is pretty despicable. I hope all those involved get fucked up. I bet there are a fair few people over there willing and capable of dishing out a bit of vigilante justice.
