Thread: Fireworks Rock!

  1. #31
I wonder if the locals are going to have the ''Battle in the Park'' over the road like last year? I have never seen so much ordinance going off,it would put any official event to shame. It was like being in a John Wayne movie with continous streams of tracer and grenades cannons and smoke. There was a bunker in the skateboard park and another in the trees and they were at it from 9.00pm to past midnight.I wonder if my camera has a manual shutter setting so I can get a good shot of the tracer?

I see my son in law has a broomstick with eight 20 shots tied around it,and inside and outside the bundle are big crackers.....and being an army type he has his camo uniform and camo paint gun helmet.Does he get picked for a team or will he be a lone agent?

Can you still buy any of this crap nowadays, or do you have to have 'special access'? E.G. Oxy/acetylene? I know you a site which has a whole lot of fuse, chems etc to make some really special stuff, coupled with the anarchists cookbook and you could make some plastic explosives.

'Course, the easiest thing is (if you can get your mits on some) nitric acid on a cotton shirt, very unstable explosive, but no complex mixing etc involved.

I know. Its only November and as I step outside you can smell bush fire.
It's not to say there is no fireworks here; you go to any entertainment at any time of the year and organisers usually put on a show thats pretty spectacular.

Just be thankful for the internet! So many recipes, so little access to ingrediants...

I used to work in the local farm supply, you would be really surprised what ingredients there are in a place like that.........my boss was paranoid about the youngsters coming in and buying some obscure stuff....

I remember blowing anvils in the past. Take one anvil, upside down, add iberal quantity of black powder, add another anvil (right way up), light fuse and stand well clear. like http://www.anvilfire.com/news1/index12.htm
Nothing llike seeing 100kg+ of anvil 20-30 feet up in the air. They always come down point first. One year in Christchurch, they were a bit enthusiastic, and the cops turned up after we had finished. nope, no loud noises here - of course it is a blacksmiths shop so with the hammering officer, couldn't hear a thing. At Westport the cops turned up as well (along with the rest of the town). Since the copper had missed it the first time, had to do it again.... Different part of the world the West Coast.
