    The Flying Fish: Changing Hands

I suspect a lot of you are aware of this but the Fish at Martinborough is changing hands. This was confirmed to Mrs CB and myself when we called in for our regular latte last Saturday morning. (the choccy and blueberry muffin was delicious too by the way). Anyway, I digress...The handover date is early December. Apparently the new owners want to turn it into more of an "alcohol" venue... which I take to mean a pub/restaurant. Not exactly a lot of space to do that I'd have thought - unless they plan to extend on to what is now the back patio area. I wonder whether it will lose its charm. It's not as if Martinborough is short on pubs either.

There's going to be a lot of bikers watching very closely what the new owners do.

Hope they don't wreck it. But then again, if they do a biker could pick up a bargin and restore it to it's former glory/pride of place in a Wellington Bikers' weekend.

I reckon the idiots buying it have seen how many evil bikers use the place and reckon they'd make money because we'll all hit the turps and go for a ride. Not.

Good luck. I'll be going to the cafe round the corner from now on. The food's better anyway.

The one in the little square thingy is quite good. Nice courtyard, nice open space inside...parking isnt as good though.

Anyway, the current owners of the Fush are keen to do something "special" for all of their biker clients before the place changes hands on 1 December.

Apparently it's going to be a "malthouse" sort of place. Like Martinborough needs another pub between the Pukemanu and the Martinborough...

That's the one. NOT the Illy coffee place across the road. The coffee is insipid.

No. As soon as anybody finds out they should post forthwith! Me included.

    no more Fish?

Oh well..guess you can always have a longer ride via the backroads to Carterton and stop in at Wild Oats on the main road...they have great coffee and food and also heaps of outdoor seating and have set up a helmet visor cleaning table...always get great service there and usually get given freebie food to sample...if the Fish becomes crap, that could be an alternative

    Just my opinion anyway
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead
Do not walk ahead as I may not follow.
Do not walk beside me as the path is narrow
In fact FU*K off and leave me alone

I go to wild oats often... not on a bike though. It has GREAT awesome yummy food.
Theres the Buckhorn as well, just down the road a bit... never been in there, but have seen bikies sitting outside in the past.
