Came across this. Anyone know the amount that this check is worth and would it be legal. I can think of some uses for this sort of thing.

From what I can work out.
0.002 is 0.2 of a cent.
e to the power of 'i' times pi... well I'm pretty sure 'i' is a variable, and seeing as he hasn't specified the value of this variable, then you can't work out what that part of the equation is worth.
The last part is:
sum of 1/(2 to the power of n) where n is the all of the numbers from 1 to infinity... Effectively what this means is that as n approaches infinite, this part of the equation approaches 1... so I suppose that this could be seen as worth $1.
So if the bank teller can work it out, then the cheque is worth at least $1.002... nice little earner that one.
OK, 0.002 is 2 tenths of a cent, e ^ i pi is minus one (i is the square root of minus one in this case, base of all the complex numbers), and the series converges on 1 (1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16...), which cancels out the -1, leaving the final value to be 2 tenths of a cent.
Also known as 3/5 of feck all, of course.
Damn, did I just publicly out myself as a maths geek?![]()
I got it all from Google, honest!
Is the question to ''check'' the cheque?.....(thread title) should be checked...![]()
I'd call you all 'maths geeks' lol - I wouldn't even attempt such a calculation![]()
about 2.50 - tax of course
A CHEQUE isn't legal tender.
The recipient can tell Mr Smartarse to stick his CHEQUE.

Stupidity kills people.
I assume that this is in reply to this?
