Yeah I wondered at the time if we changed our minds too quickly because I've been over the hill in rain before and found it fine on either side. We had a fun ride all the same and sorry to miss you.

    Chicks and Dicks Ride

What an awesome day guys... BIG thanks to everyone who showed up. I'm sorry the weather looked like crap our side of the hill.... but apparently it was a brill day here too. Have to organise another ride this time making it around Lake Ferry.

I may have been Ring Leader... but without Sels1, I would have been lost. Thanks for all your help, and for the brilliant bbq Sels!!! It was great!!!

Thanks to everyone who came far and wide... the Ashhurst Boys esp!!!

Thanks to the kendogs... for being a laugh, and for Nigel not nicking off with my GN when I know he was dieing too. Thanks to elle, ronin and kinje for sticking with me.... (some of the time) even though my Ginny was having a hard time keeping up on the way back. Thanks to Merv for the photos.. awesome. And Grub and Nasty... sorry to hear about the flat tire.

I have photos... will post them soon.

    Cheers
    Mel

Gerble really enjoyed its day out on Wellywoods goat tracks . Maybe we'll visit the Wire Rapper on another sojourn. Came back to Palmerston North via the Pahaitua track, Gorge Rd and the saddle rd. Coke and natter at Meanies. As usual Cowboyz was fashionally late...........home.

    Thanks all.

Nope, he always looks like that! Why don't you try passing him sometime, that should make him look surly!!!

Good pix Merv. Here's a few more on the road.

I took a panorama at Rimutex also but unfortunately it is a bitmap file and the site won't accept it. If anyone wants to view it, PM me your email and I'll send it. The original is 9Mb so advise if your on Broadband or not and I can send a reduced file (255Kb)

Good to see the BBQ photos because I'd left my camera in my bag then, too busy eating and drinking.

I couldn't help but give in to temptation & went back up the Taka's after leaving the Piecock summit. It had cleared & was sunny & warm. There was a friendly mufti-cop in the goldy coloured Honda Accord taking video of vehicles crossing the centre line on the way down & a marked HPcar prowling the hill too.

What a great day, Ka Pai!!

P.S nice picture of the BigRedZed there Merv, cheers.

    Some piccys:
First Photo: in the background you can just see Sels1 doing the fingers to me!
Second Photo: At Sels for barbeque, The Kendogs sitting next to each other in matching white tops, and Sugilite on one side and Alice on the other.
The last one is the Wairarapa Crew minus me of course..... kinje (Brent), Ronin (Shaun with the big horn) and elle33f (Michelle).

What I find fascinating in all our pics of the Paekak Hill is just how the boy-racers have smoked up that lookout point with their burnouts. I guess one day we will hear one has stuffed up and driven over the edge. There is a lot of rubber left there.
    Cheers
