    A cause to push perhaps?

That is why I pointed it out. Your profiling skills are probably about average. Yes it's not PC to jump to conclusions and bring race into the conversation, and I could care less about that.

My questions remains - why is it so important to you - such that you insist on pointing it out? What do you stand to gain?
So you agree that most people assumed these two were of a certain ethnic group. The choices too me then are pointing that out, or sweeping it under the carpet and ignoring it because its not PC to point out that certain ethnic minorities are far more likely to commit crimes.

PS: vis a vis Chris Rock's "Niggers vs Black People", it might have been more approriate to refer to them as niggers than black.

No - I don't speak for, or assume what others think. I try to do that for myself. I simply said the chances are higher they fall into those ethnic groups based on the information at hand. What I also asked is why it's so important to you that needed to assume their ethnicity and make that statement.

Did you also point out their gender, martial status, sexual orientation, or religion? Why not? Many of those are similarly easy to assume with a reasonable degree of confidence.

Edit - it's also possibly inappropriate to refer to them as nigga, blacks or anything other than Causian... y'know - open mind and all that...

Regardless of what is "statistically" the case you cannot say that the individuals in this case are of any race whatsoever - you have no proof. Are you seriously trying to say that because a crime was commited, it was commited by a "nigger" as you put it (or black or dog or whatever other bigoted term you wish to use)?

I'm sorry I must have missed that class - the class that was supposed to teach me that all criminals are "mud" people unless proven otherwise. Graeme Burton was black until the poor bastard got shot by the police in a case of mistaken identity (they were shooting at the black man behind him obviously) and had his leg amputated... and then the police were at fault the police complaints authority will see to that...

Sociopathic serial killers are statistically more like to be white, and aged in their 20's or early 30's :-)

For all that people argue about lies, damned lies, and statistics; statistics, and the profiling that can be deduced from them are useful.

Maori/Island people ARE more likely to commit violent crimes.
White people ARE more likely to be serial killers.
Muslims ARE more likely to wear clothing by DuPont.
You ARE more likely to be struck by lightening than win lotto.

Does that mean that all maoris are going to bash you, all whites will stalk and kill you, all muslims will blow up your bus and that if you win lotto you should avoid storms for the rest of your life? Course not.. But it means if your walking down the road and see some rough looking maoris they ARE more likely to thump you than the asians on the other side of the road and its probably time to cross.

And as for my reasoning MDU, I cant give you any definitive answer other than I think its wrong to NOT point out things like that.

I've seen enough Police 10-7 and bro-watch to know that it's not totally unjustifiable to assume that he had a run in with a couple of dark skinned kids (I used the term nigger purely for shock value, sorry if it seemed quite harsh, it was meant to be). Two guys on one bike... white boys would've had their own bikes

I had a knife pulled on me and my missus while we were walking though new market about a year ago by some little white boy (wigga) sitting in bus stop, we chose to keep walking, as we were walking past a cyclist stopped and gave him a bit of an ear bashing (sumhow I think it went unheard) the little shit was still sitting in the bus stop when I was walking back to my cage, he pulled the knife on me a second time so I grabbed his arm/knife (he was about 5'2 60kg and im 6'4 and 100kg so i had the advantage) and almost dislocated his shoulder and most of his fingers and threw the knife down the nearest stormwater drain.

normally it's water off a ducks back, that sort of social delinquency ... but then I got to thinking ... "all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing" so said someone who's no longer on this earth ... so 500m or so down the road i do a ueee & go looking for this pair to find out why he flipped me the bird

see them up ahead riding the foot path on the same side of the road as me & I pull in beside them ... "so why did you give me the finger" I say ... his mouth was going up & down but I didn't hear a thing ... still had me ear plugs in, helmet on & sitting on a running bike ... so I ask them to stop ... with that the guy riding decides to put a bit of ommmph into the peddles ... crusing along beside them at a jogging sort of pace I grab the handle bar rides hoody as I still want to hear his answer ... this unsettles their bike & we all stop

loose me grip on the handle bar riders (hbr) hoody & he's off in a flash ... he hauls up 10-15m down the foot path ... my bikes parked & i'm on the foot path walking down to him, still fully kitted up ... he keeps running maintaining the distance ... 10m or so down the foot path his mate sidles up to me asking what me problem is ...

tell him what happened & I want to find out why ... his mate calls the hbr over but he ain't havin a bar of it ... this goes on for a couple of minutes ... gettin no where fast & I sence their conferdance growing ... the hbr is getting mouthy & his mate chips in ... his mate is still handy to me so I swipe his cap off his head, telling him he'll get it back when the hbr gets over here & gives me an answer ...

"give me, me cap back man" ... when ya mate comes over I replyed ... "you ain't go no beef with me man, give me, me cap back" ... he had a point there but I felt I needed to keep the upper hand by any means ... his mate gettin fairly wound up now & the hbr is approching ... with that i see a flash of steel in the form of a kitchen peeling knife or similar ... 50mm blade with a point & a black plastic handle ... NOW his mate has got my full & undivided ATTENTION

we exchange our needs again & again ... his, for his cap & me, for the hbr, all the time his mate getting more & more excited ... his cap in hand I start back tracking to me bike, watchin that blade & also the hbr, now right on his hip ... bike reached, leg over, key on, starter hit & gone in what felt like a milli second ...

so I've got me a souvioner from me days roaming... a black 50CENTS G FORCE cap ...
PLUG, you got flipped off by a kid, and thats a terrible thing, and as we have all been teenagers and NEVER done some dumb ass thing like that EVER.

YOU went looking for confrontation, you drove on, had a think and decided to U-turn back and CONFRONT them, their reaction was a bit severe, but if I had a knfe on me and some big leather clad biker was shouting at me and not listening to a word I said, I reckon I'd resort to visual forms of communication in order to get myself heard.

You know when it looks like you in for a kicking you'll protect yourself, YOU PUT HIM IN THAT POSITION, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS and next time ride on, it was hardly the crime of the century. Beating up kids is no fun and having them gut you with a kitchen knife strikes me as futile, what the hell where you trying to acheive, there kids, they don't listen to anyone....

You got flipped off, get over it and grow up...get angry for something serious, otherwise the vein on you temple will explode.....

Those two little twats WOULD have had a word from me re. manners - AND if one pulled a knife he WOULD have got a serve-up.

The twat with the knofe also had the opportinity to do a runner, he didn't have to stay and produce the knife.....stuff any jumped up little waste-of-oxygen that tries THAT sort of shit.

I dont think the kid expected me lunge foward and grab his arm, it wasnt a big knife but thats not to say that it couldnt do damage. I feel that if I hadnt done something about it, the kid would have done something stupid and fucked up his life more than it was already.

Plug, one thing to remember is that the jaw is right next to one of the main arteries which go to the brain, a decent whack to the jaw should promptly put the little shit on his arse(gloves with reinforced knuckles help..). But it pays to be causious of them when their in numbers as they usually have the pack mentality, Ive been caught out by this before and ended up having 5 stitches next to my eye.

EDIT: if you can get your hands on one of those extending batons that cops have, its pretty cool seeing the reaction of the little shit/s when you flick it out, they usually they dont stick around long.

Amazing how a dumb situation can come close to turning scary so quickly. I had a few dumb incidents with the youth at risk program in NJ with knives a few times and two with guns. One pointed at me. Not good.

At least you didnt do the quick hardcore backdown, it would have just told the punk that a knife gives him power over people, and no good ever comes from carrying like that.

Amazing how a dumb situation can end up with someone lying in a pool of their own blood. The sooner behaviours that are socially destructive are curbed the better off society is.

Not a troll at all, just another perspective, thats allowed isn't it...sometimes it takes a more strength to walk away.

If I'm not mistaken your a member of this nations law enforcement, your taught and expected to think like a cop. If Mr.Plug had been knifed and the full story had been heard, you lot would be the first to condem him for taking the law into his own hands!

Ya can't win, but you can avoid putting yourself into danger every now and again...
