Maverick & McJim have been organising rides along these lines down south every fortnight for the last six months or so. I thought it was time to invite them north, especially as there's a group of north shore usual suspects who travel south for their rides regularly.
    fair enuff,
my bad, thought it was about the usual suspects seen on thursdays

i'll take my leave and leave you to it

I didn't realise there was ANY talk of a run to the 'tron.

And you do realise of course it's rare to get peak hour level traffic on the M1 on a Sunday. Unless it's b0rked by way of tourist related prang. Or some ministerial cavalcade. Or stuff.

End of the day, I'm going. Whether or not anyone tags along is none of my concern. (This of course is diplomacy speak for "I don't give a shit")

    NOBODY got the BRE/SRE reference???

I also have no problem with tongue in cheek - provided the tongue and cheek are mine. Unless the tongue belongs to some hot chick. Then she can borrow the inside of my cheek.

I ride on the motorway from manurewa to westgate often in different traffic, I haven't had a frustrated time wishing I was somewhere else yet! Regardless of where I am, on a bike is on a bike and that's good enough for me!

I wish I could make this trip, would've been my first venture over the bridge.. I hope you guys do it again soon so I can go the next time!

Just to let eveyone know that if the weather is as shit as it was this evening, I'll be bailing out of my own ride. I'll make a decision Sat evening once I've seen the forecast, and post my decision then.

You are joking me! I remember way back in the ol'days when a group of seriously deranged bikers still on their learners (and still are some of us!) Went and pootled around the twisties in the rain!

    Mad? Aye.

    Had fun? For sure.

Would we do it again? Dunno!

Yes, if my hazy memory serves me right .. McJim in his leathers..Mav doing his "I'm sorry the weather genie was on holiday" spiel ... Donor, shitting bricks as he was totally new to this biking game on his hand grenade called Daisy ... and a deranged little ol'Hornet rider who was cackling in his helmet due to the lovely two stroke smell coming from Daisy ahead!

G'wan, y'know y'want to nana it in the rain!

Aye them was character building days for sure - I've had a few soakings since then too being an every day motorcyclist - it stops being fun in the rain when you do it too often....more of a chore really.

Forecast ain't too bad for Friday and Saturday - rain should have spent itself by tomorrow afternoon until Sunday - ride safe and enjoy - I think Mave will bring his weather genie too...mibbe.

    The weather better be good.

Or else I have pissed off some good golfing buddies, and the missus will have me finishing off the renovations in the bathroom!

Ok, I'm back, and I'm glad I didnt miss this ride. Count me in. Although I am shaking my head in amazement at what I'm reading here. Someone from Manukau is complaining about an hour+ on the motorway, (is there a bike slower than the GN?????) Someone else is going to lay mines on the bridge, but the meeting point is out the end of the Northwestern. Zeocen is under the thumb, and Donor is giving up golf AND beer.

I can't turn my back for a minute.....(let alone a week, a week when I rode my trusty GN down to the Central Plateau in summer and returned in winter)

At least GIJoe is still normal.
