The actual towers are 67 metres high and sit on a pad 1.5 m deep and 15 or 16 m in diameter There is also 50 tons of reinforcing steel in each pad.i think that makes each pad 3 hundred and something tons

I showed someone the pic and they reckoned it was pohutakawa tree. So I googled largest pohutakawa tree and it said te araroa! easy to find when you get there too, small place.

Well it was good we went from te kaha to te araroa so not bad, bit of wind coming up off the sea knocked me around at times but te araroa was pretty, sat on the beach for awhile. And yea, will have to retire my poor wee bike at some point!

There isn't anything in the rules that says that it must always travel north or south from where you picked it up but if you have a pic of your bike in a spot north of the big smoke that will be recognisable or you want to give a clue I dont think any one will mind. If anyone objects speak now!

The first picture is to be of bike or rider, and i belive there is a sign post down there some where that points to stewart island. Bluff maybe ??.
after this photo is posted up, then this rider needs to start the inter island tag run.

riders need to place the tag far enough north for the next district's or towns rider to tag it and so on..... the idea is to travel the tag up the length of new zealand from bottom to top.

when the tag reaches picton, rider only needs to take a photo of the name of one of the ferrys, in port. and post it up.

the tag will then start in the north island.

A wellington rider will need to take a photo of the same ferry in port and post it up.

the same rider will need to start the north island run, by posting the next tag..

the end result will be the last rider with a picture of his bike, or person's at the sign post at cape Reinga.

please add location with your tag.
please dont make the tags to difficult to find, as to keep the game rolling.

because of a new work commitment we need to back down here by 1st of April so need the tag on it's way south by the 20th March,
Kerikeri, Ohaeawai, Kaikohe any where along that line would be great or further south :D

I will move it If everyone is OK with it going South without having reached the Cape. With work commitments in Auckland now for me, taking the tag from Opo to the Cape is not an option for me. But willing to pickup from Opo and take it to South of Auckland.

Leaving here either Thursday or Friday next week and arriving in Hamilton on Sunday. Nothing planned from there except for being at Uni from Monday morning to Friday evening each week, Then leaving Hamilton on Friday 4th April and due home no later than midday Tuesday 8th. That gives me 3 weekends for cruising around, but I hate Auckland so will probably stay around Waikato or Bay of Plenty.

I was going north from Dargaville so maybe half a k too far, the photo was taken from a rest area well before (south of) Opononi . Didn't take a photo further north as got too late to do Cape and return which I want to do. I will do the ride again but this time ensure I meet the ferry timetable to go north.

the man picked it up & placed it nothing in the rules that say other wise,
as has been said it's just an easy way to get it over the ditch, if you're not going in futher,

I do think that the rules need to be looked at ie: that if the tag is picked up in one Region it can't be moved any futher
than the next one, & there is some thing in the pic to say where it is

that way more people are likely to move it :Punk:

When I read the rules I was under the impression that the ferry was a part of it,but I do see where you are coming from if someone is going straight through.
Must admit tho, as shrek said, would be nice to see it played in shorter jumps so more can have a pop at it. Its not like there's extra points for moving it from one end of the country to the other, if its gunna spend the winter stuck in the deep south again.

That was always the intention of this tag thread ... more people involved in it. I hardly see the need for more rules. Such is the way of it ... if some choose to take it a greater distance.

I had a very pleasant ride today: From Alexandra - Hawea - Crown Range - Glenorchy - Alexandra. Both the national and Otago tags in one trip. I'll get the new national tag on my way to the Beaumont rally this weekend.
