Yep, that's pretty much the KiwiBiker way - shoot down anyone that has an opinion that differs from the mob.
Wow!
Scarey!
Sounds almost like the real world in general....

I think he did a great job - he certainly did a better go of it than the ACC GM. It doesn't matter how many people double check the equation... $77 x 3.2 million (or whatever the figure is) is still in excess of $200M.
Top Job Sir IX. Liked the way he (Walrus mouth) tried to talk over you at the end but you didn't let it happen.
$200 million going somewhere.... guess those accountants and PR consultants for ACC are rolling in it.... as are the management......
Ah. Somebody gets it.
We need the public on our side. At this stage anyway. The public perception of bikers is all too often tattooed dreadlocked bruisers with an antisocial attitude. Well, the sooner they are priced off the road the better says Joe Q Public , that deep and incisive thinker. Or smarmy yuppies who can easily afford to pay what for the damage their toys do. Make them pay their fair sahre, why should I subsidise them, says Joe Q.
But a gentle unthreatening old man, just like Dad ?
There will eb a time for a switch to an agressive mode. But not yet.
NIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice........
Calm, cool and collected comes across far better than frothing at the mouth, baying for blood.....
Keep up the good work, dad.........
I'm not bagging anyone.
I'm just saying that there has to be a better public face for our campaign.
And he hasn't been bagging anyone. I follow where you are coming from, but a fake presenter all dollied up stepping into the role will be shown up.
.....Then perhaps the trade should get together and have a rider/lawyer on salary who can speak a hundred words per minute and have a PA that can type a 1500 word speech at the drop of the hat !
The OP on the other hand ........
At a cost of... what? $400 per hour, give or take? Then add on the wages for the PA.....
How much is "Dad" charging?
Well done on your first post on here. I smell a rat.
Dude, you shoulda done a wee bit more research before you go blabbling your fucking mouth off like that.....now you look like a complete shitstick....so go an register yourself a new name on Kiwibikers and we can pretend you never spoke such shite!
Well spotted. My thoughts too. Anyone else spot the obvious troll?
A newbie signup, no posts, with a clanger opener......
Wonder where his signup came from - whose computor......
Spankme might be able to look into it.... and name and shame....?

Shoot down?
Red signifies a differing opinion.
A differing opinion is free will. Are you suggesting we shouldn't allow free will on KB?
Many of us disagree with his position he has been told, had we agreed he would have been told also.
Just as he's welcome to his opinion and we are just as welcome to ours.
Simply because the majority happens to disagree doesn't make it a "mob" situation any more than you and he are in a mob of 2.

It's no mean feat walking into a studio. It's an alien place.

I thought Les did a great job of representing us bikers on TV1 Close up, he certainly out classed the high cost, highly trained professional ACC representative!
Les earned my respect and I for one feel proud and honoured to be represented (in this case) by him, I thought he was excellent!
We may be poles apart politicly but on this I am 100% behind him, especially the way he conducted himself and represented our case!
Thank you Les! :2thumbsup

I persuaded them about the scrotah. The chick who called me to arrange it said that they were going to have a bike on stage. And mentioned she rode a scrotah. Having the scrotah there was good, showed it wasn't just big bike riders that were affected and angry.
While the post you responded to was a cheap poke at AllanB's Honda-enthusiasm I have to applaud your choice, no matter how staged it may be, in regards to both props, attire and attitude.
Most non-bikers I have talked to about this can easily see how unfair the proposed levy increases are. The public at large appears to be on our side in this, as far as I can tell.

I have met several. Thanks to "knob" bikers of the modern day - we are not well liked by all. Kiwibiker and said other associations (unfortunately) do not help this situation - purely through cause that we take all as they come.
People think I am a bit harsh for telling idiots to buck up their ideas and take a bit of responsibility - however I obviously have not been vigilant enough, as we are now seeing the downfall of this.
Saw a new knob lately a mission bay, ducati monster, not a clue, and a german style helm. Makes you just want to cut fuel lines.
Thanks to ACC now I have a reason not to like all those on 2 wheels. Thanks for you not taking your own responsibility we all get punished.

The bit the fucks me off more... is that ACC made more than enough money, and is not actually going broke... fuck its the only government department making a profit...
Average joe blogs believe it is going broke... and pisses me off they way Nick Smith says increased costs... there haven't been any
4.5b turnover, 1.7 in claims (and steady at that for a couple of years), 1b banked and has 11b in the bank. All it is the projected returns weren't enough to put more in the bank to move to the fully funded... at present we are part funded and part pay as you go
If gooberment aren't woried about the 2014 fully funded cut off, then it can easily be no changes and status quo as we go...
The increases are only for the short fall of the returns to bank... just as any business knows that sometimes you don't have the returns as you want, but you don't just increase you prices...
I personally don't care if it takes another 20 years to become fully funded

I couldn't agree more. Les knew his facts and figures, didn't bully or become overbearing, and somehow just managed to look like an ordinary bloke, nervous, but keen to show he was being rorted.
The 3/4 million dollar professional appeared uninformed, arrogant and dismissive of the real facts when the didn't suit his purpose.

I know but the opinion wasn't particularly well expressed or thoughtful. And from a first-timer not especially wise......
Freedom of speech is important but it runs both ways - you are not compelled to accept what another freely expresses. Especially if the opinion is one-dimensional..... :jerry:

not to sure about the spokesman on close up???
If thats the state of representation of the bike community where boned !!!
If he had said, "Not sure about the spokesman on close up? I didn't like the way he combed his hair because it gives the impression that all bikers are communists. It would be better if he parted his hair on the right instead of the left."
Then maybe he would have got a reasonable response. Or maybe not. But by making an ill-thought, ill-expressed, poorly punctuated first post he was asking for trouble. And he got it.

I've just read the 19 pages of thread (so far) and watched the video online here in the Middle East.
I was really STOKED with the interview. Les you did fantastically Matey, - I couldn't have hoped for a better portrayal of our side of the story - brilliant how you used their own facts to make them look like turkeys.
No Kiwi likes a bureaucracy - especially one they're paying for, and your approach helped reinforce that. The "I find that hard to believe" comment was the ACC Reps nail in the coffin.
Given the small amount of air-time available, we won hands down thanks to you Les. Having not met you, I assume you still have a job, lawns to mow etc etc - and I appreciate the giving of your time to this issue.
I'm joining BRONZ as a way of saying thanks.
The following quote further reflects my feelings.

Well I'd have to say I'm no particular fan on Ixion on here because I consider he has misrepresented certain issues with the mods to the point where I have called him a "blatant liar" and several other things on different occasions
However I think the motorcycling community would have been hard pushed to find a better person to have been doing that interview, he had all the answers and took the ACC spokesman down whenever he opened his mouth.
Not that he'd give a toss but he gets a big "bloody well done" from me
