OK Nelson members, please take it from here! :woohoo:
Awesome work the xknuts...I'll give the lovely lass a call today and sort out a deposit later in the week...payday an' all.
This is a brilliant place to go, no neighbours...township of Brightwater just down the road for supplies, no neighbours, scenery is picture prefect, no neighbours, awesome river, no neighbours, warm, sunny and best of all no neighbours.
Now the next thing is...woudl you guys like a band to come out and entertain on the Sautrday night? Have a friend who sings in a band and I'm sure she love to come out and meet all you lovelies.
If you have any request (of the sensible kind), PM me and I'll see what I can do, might also look at a marquee type thing in case the wet stuff falls...

On another note. I presume your ute is going up with the boys dangerous?
You be happy to take supplies again and tow a trailer as backup/carry gear?
I'll supply trailer and flick you some coin to help with fuel as Rummies and my contribution. We will also store gear at our place / big freezer in week before if that helps, as chch pretty central for alot of people and you just down the road.
does that sound like a plan?

Well done all of you who got your shit together...I've tried to phone Margerate, no answer so I've emailed her to send me info as the attachment on my email from xknuts wouldn't open.
As soon as I've got the forms sorted I'll get them back to Margerate with a desposit.
Anyone wishing to pay their $15 per night in advance you can email me and I'll give you my bank account number so I can leave the country...oops, i mean so I can pay her with a cheque and I'll keep note of who has paid and who is coming.
so....it's now waiting time for the summer fun to begin.

Hi all, I have been pretty quiet too... an update... no more study at uni for me, Graduated and now working full time.
Last year I missed the KB Rally and went to visit the Gloriavale community just down the road.. an incredible experience, however I did go home in case you were wondering!
This year I have tickets to the Foo Fighters on Tuesday 13th, so now the rally weekend is compromised by a totally different, yet equally entertaining alternative option. I am therefore still on the maybe list ;) :shit: Hope you are all keeping well, and look forward to the catch ups soon!! :)

In the poll at the top of the thread, click on the number beside each bar of the graph to see who is going etc. Also, Dangerust has set up calendar for the event but not everyone who has reponded to the poll has entered their attendance on the calendar.
By popular demand, I had to swallow a whole bottle of chill pills but am feeling much better now that I know when & where I am going :). The ride is fantastic but alas has proved to be a bit of a magnet for white cars with blue & yellow stripes :(. I am attempting to alter the magnetic field by removing one of the spark plug leads on each cylinder!
Glad to hear you are enjoying your new Stripple - how about some pics?

LOL... I don't ride often enough to attract THAT kind of attention, good plan to avoid their attention though... good luck!! :)

Right, serious business. Sorry, I've been quiet of late, been so extra busy with life, work and children, hardly even been on the bike much. Anyway, I'm meeting Margerat up at the site on Monday so if you've got any questions let me know over the weekend and I can answer them upon my return.

Lees Valley is near Loburn, Rangiora, Christchurch.
Probably only bugged me because I ride Lees Valley fairly often.

One that gets my goat is many locals refer to the local area, WAKARI as WAIKARI (North Canterbury) . They: " Oh, I just came down from Waiakari". Me: "Bloody long drive then"

Right, serious business. Sorry, I've been quiet of late, been so extra busy with life, work and children, hardly even been on the bike much. Anyway, I'm meeting Margerat up at the site on Monday so if you've got any questions let me know over the weekend and I can answer them upon my return.
The days are ticking on swiftly, gettting longer...so lovely and warm up here already...summer will be a beauty.
Stay safe and I'll see you all in December...:woohoo:
Well I've put the $30 through today so I hope you get it so should be in your account Monday I guess Genie

So when is this rally again, I cant be bothered reading through the entire thread to find such information... and I will ask again a week or two out from the event just to be sure I got it right. Rally's eh, I have almost forgotten what on earth they are, even what the hell is riding a motorcycle on the road, seems rather foreign for me. Last time I think bike , I think Brass, and that seems like 3 years ago.
A typical rally for I would be a can of Woodstock... it is like a rally in a can with out all the other stuff that goes on about at a rally... what ever a rally might be of course.
Damn I could eat a horse.

Hot damn, slam, you replied like a burst dam.
So you send the second weekend, but by then they all blend.
I been to all, and I aint even that tall.
I will be on the Guzzi, and may even shave so I aint that fuzzy.
Some sun would make it fun, will there be a potato gun?
I hope some dude brings some food.
Will there be a BBQ for the Q?
I must remember to pack the second shoe.
And toilet paper for the Loo.
Some Rum for the tum.
Looks like this years venue aint no slum.
Here I sit, almost having a fit, looked in the mirror and could not find a zit.
Seems I am not as young as I feel, Wrinkles instead of pimples.
If I pour another, I may have an imaginary brother from another mother.

Hi all,
I went up to Paretai today to check the place out and familiarise myself with how to turn the fridge, hot water, dishwasher etc on....and wow, what a beautiful place!
Took my breathe away, so tranquil and peaceful. Well it will be until you lot arrive.
Only issue I can see is that there are chickens and a couple of roosters roaming around the place and apparently the rooster crows at sunrise..eeek!!!
There are a couple of neighbours up there and one of them, lovely man, keeps an eye on the place and has requested that could we please turn stereos down after midnight.
The sleeping areas are pretty neat, couple of rooms upstairs and two long dorm type areas and another room downstairs in the main hall/kitchen area.
The best part was the "shelter". Awesome for out door evening drinking with an outdoor fire for which i'll need to get a permit, apparently that is no issue.
All in all a pretty fantastic place with it's lovely steps leading down to our very own private swimming hole...hehe, midnight swimming!
Some have asked what to bring...sleeping bag, personal items, food, beverages. There is a pub just down the road so I don't think you need to travel with your liquid refreshments and there is also a supermarket 5 mins down the road.
Awesome place to have a gathering so a big thanks to whom ever it was that suggested this place and things in motion.
Right I'm off to get some ride time in, I'm so out of practice and my confidence is a little eroded. Take care all of you and see/meet you soonish.

Hi, and this is my first also. Lee Valley is the left-hand turn at the Brightwater Pub. I'm sure you know where that is. The camp site is about 5 mins up the road, over the bridge and around 3 corners and there is a big sign saying "Paretai". Absolutely gorgeous setting.

try that and see if that helps you.
Camp is open to us from 1.pm Friday December 9 through until Sunday December 11. From the few I know and have met that are coming it is going to be a lovely weekend with many laughs to be shared.
P.S. sorry my link does not work at all. damn blonde hair!

I'd be keen as beans to come down for this as I think I'll be back on 2 wheels by then. Only if you don't mind a shy North Island lass coming along :o
so my pretty, as I know you are well and truely back on the bike and you have a most handsome escort...are you both going to grace us with your presence?
ok as a North islander with the risk of being shot down has anyone looked at the Scout/Guide camps in the nelson region?? there is Paretai up lee valley out of brightwater Here (http://www.girlguidingnz.org.nz/about-us/our-properties) and a couple of scout ones mentioned Here (http://www.scouts.org.nz/HOME/UpperSouthIsland/Campsites.aspx) with contact details.
I know the Local scout camp in Wellington has been used by both the Ulysses club, and as a base for a capital coast ADV ride a few years ago.
The good thing is quite often you can get the place to yourself, and most are Rural based. Anyone in nelson want to have a go at contacting them?
Here you are Riwaka Girl....hope this helps.

Great, thanks for that.. so being a newbie to all this.. how does it work? Everyone camps out, hangs out.. bla bla bla.. what about riding? As it's not that far from me it's not really a biggie to go camping as I don't know anyone but I'd be up for a ride :-) What's the usual format? cheers
