So the corporates manage to donate large $$ to the major political parties in exchange for some dialogue and etc?
I actually wonder if the corporates really are getting more than an ordinary say in what goes on. Id say they would....

Strangely enough wealthy people often make donations to political parties simply because they can afford to. They don't want or need political favours, they do perfectly well by themselves. The reasons for donating vary from person to person: sometimes because they agree with a party's policies, and sometimes they just want to see balance in politics.

For example, Sir Robert Jones (an easy man to dislike) donated substantial money to Winston Peters. Why? Peters was never in a position to help Jones - but Jones likes an underdog.

Similarly billionaire Owen Glenn who lives in Monaco has made very large donations to Labour...and Winston Peters. He doesn't need these small time politicians, he simply donates because he is sympathetic to them.

In reality all NZ political parties struggle for money. They get sod-all.

I wonder what our jobless figures look like (http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/The-hardest-city-get-job-yahoofinanceuk-2905659215.html), because these show not enough jobs and too many people.

So the answer would then seem to be Less People ...

(I have a little list ... which grows daily )

Sitting next to an ageing Maori bag lady in Macdonalds, 2 suitcases with wheels. Poor dear

No socks, enjoying her coffee. Her face shows autism, and she usually has a happy expression.

The wealthy looking couple sit side by side staring at the barista for a good 5 minutes while they wait. Staring, staring, waiting for their meal

I'm not sure which ones I would gas first......

At which point in time they will probably resort to crime to feed, clothe and entertain their families. So we throw them in jail... where they cost more than if they were on the dole?

Ahhh yes, we are bred to work... If you're not at school, then you should be working? What else is there?

Too true, too true - especially given your vague directionless rambling.
Meh wouldn't change Jack for me. Just nother politician really.

Last Polly with direction that didn't ramble was Hitler and look where that got him.

I prefer the concept of no government, lets see what happens in NZ. I mean statistically speaking very little will change. Its not like they have made many decisions in the last 100 or so.
Also women wouldn't have to protest to vote, because no one would be able to vote. So really I have just removed a revolution from history.

Treat the wound, not the cries.

Salus populi seprema lex esto
( the welfare of the people should be the highest law ) and from History

Snip;
'Burgundy, thou wast born a lion! My soul is o'ergrown with distress.
For the nobles of France, and dark mists roll round me and blot the writing of God
Written in my bosom. Necker rise! leave the kingdom, thy life is surrounded with snares.

All been done before and IMHO we need governance As " quote life would be brutish and short "
We then need to decide , planned or unplanned ? both and all of the colors in between have been tried before

Plan and execute the basics , Heath, Education and Utilities ( electricity , water and transport ) ie the basics that business needs.

Then leave the rest alone ( allowing competition to flourish)

ie internet: . government planned and run.but to a high basic level . 10Mbps unlimited up /down and if 2 degrees want to better that then fine ......

No need to rush a plan... there are already departments and departmental heads with policy guidelines in place to ensure that the basics are covered:)... tis just a small matter of holding enough power to influence the policy and direction of moving forwards... something a "small" number of our representatives "manage" at the moment...

Hate to thread-dredge but building on my earlier comments about the state of our economy, this is worth the (lengthy) read.

corporate reform, easier than welfare reform... someone's been at the herbals ... Interesting ideas though... and it could work if the corporate world doesn't up and bugga off because we're asking them to pay more than they already are... shame it's just another stop gap.
