Good shit mossy. Looks like your build is comming along nicely. Funds have been a nightmare for me atm, so I haven't done alot to mine. Might have to sell my FZR1000 to free up a couple of grand for some new goodies. Will post up some pictures of my mods tonight. Keep em coming...
I must be missing something here ... are the mods you're doing for any specific purpose other than to add bling ?
If so, count me in and I'll be interested .. I just like riding fast and don't need any of that shit ... :-)

When I had a blackbird mine did a 10.018 on a road surface so it doesn't surprise me since I weigh 90 plus gear.
I haven't even managed a sub 10 on the 14 yet but im working on it. The safety maps being on the bike didn't help.

The akra headers slot into my Yoshi r77 twin cans and midpipes so I will keep them. I like the twin pipe look but the akra complete system was 3 grand.
The akra Yoshi mix owes me half that amount.
The weight difference in headers would only be 1 kg I would say. I was surprised that they didn't weigh more.
They original tail pipes were very heavy on the 14. I should weigh them but they are in the garage roof and weigh to much to lift down.

2014 model with ohlins stock suspension. I wish lol. Im thinking that wont be a cheap bike.
Just rearsets and quickshifter at this stage.
Although an extended swinger with nitro bottle etc sounds fun but wouldn't corner.
I will at some point get a Brocks strap kit and an ohlins/brocks steering damper but money is an issue also now. Home ownership stunts bike bling a lot.
Timber is soaking my funds.

Rearsets will give me a gearlever link rod while the stock gear lever comes from the gearbox shaft.
Once I have the link bar length I will order a Dynojet link bar the same length that will have the quickshift switch as part of it.
This will link to the power commander and cut the ignition during up shifts so I can change gear full throttle clutchless. Its just an ignition cut.

Still need to build it bruv.
Probably looking at tearing it down for the motor rebuild around July/August so the bike should hopefully be finished by summer time. Hardest part for me is probably going to be the wiring and setting up the motor to work on the standalone ECU.
Maximum HP for Alc injection is around 320hp on this setup, any higher will require a Liquid/Air intercooler plenum which currently go for 3200NZD and are well out of my budget

Looks sweet. Did you fabricate the exhaust manifold yourself?
The Reibz
27th February 2014, 10:30
Nah I haven't completed the manifold yet. The one I have tacked up is a little bit long and will most likely need a oil scavenge pump as the oil won't drain out of the turbo properly when its not mounted high enough above the sump. Those 2 pictures are from boosted cycle performance on one of his turbo builds. The header is made by Richard from RCC Turbos in Canada.
Once I get the physical turbo I will get to work on my headers and dump pipes. Plan on running a 3 inch dump pipe straight out of the fairing for extra loudness

Had a squirt on a 'new model' V-max today, only for about 20 min on the open road, nice power and awesome torque from everywhere, big and heavy I must say, you could feel the weight when you slowed down. Ran it through to the red-line in 4th and, not sure how fast I was going but it was getting along for sure, maybe 240 ? Who knows, it kept pulling like a train. Great motor I won't forget it.
I'll stick with my Gen 2 Busa for now :-)

Fuck. That's tempting.
On the one hand; I already have more power than I ever use for more than a handful of seconds at a time a handful of times per proper ride. The $6-7k it'd cost to upgrade could buy an awful lot of liquor/hookers/GN125s/Mudbugs/combination of the preceding which would undoubtedly be of more practical use than 400hp.
On the other hand: 400hp.
13.5k. That's gotta be crazy good value right? What're you spending on your turbo build? For what kinda hp?

13.5k. That's gotta be crazy good value right? What're you spending on your turbo build? For what kinda hp?
Spent about 8k so far, need about another 4 to finish everything off. I'm only looking at 260 - 320hp max for the first tune, ride it around like that for a while then pull trigger on a intercooler setup.
Im building the majority of parts myself and calling in favours from friends so am saving alot of cash in that area. I would say 25k+ has gone into that bike when you take everything into account. Guys in the states typically pay up to 40k for a ultra build that can handle 600hp+
Remember that 400hp is only at the top of the rev range at whatever boost hes got gated/controlled. For the most part the lower rev range will be reserved and gentle(ish) like your standard busa. So the bike remains streetable.
I would like to go check this bike out and ask the guy a few questions but wellington is a bit far out of the way

Ok. So over the years I have had quite a few road bikes. Most powerful of these being an 06 GSXR1000. Currently have a vfr800 as a road going bike which I originally purchased as I figured this would give me a kind of "Jack of all trades" ride. I have had this bike going on three years and it has served me well. I always wondered what was the point of these large capacity sports bikes aka Hyperbikes. Always kinda figured its just pure wank factor and wrote it off as having a 1000 previously, I never envisaged wanting anything with even more hp... So a mate has bought an 08 Hayabusa. We went out today for a ride through the Lindis to Tarris and back again. So I took this lil ol girl for a leg of the trip and fuck me! What a bloody ball. That kinda power and torque is totally addictive. Its the first time in many years I truly have had a ride with fits of laughter going on inside the Arai.
So apologies for being a totally narrow minded judgemental asshole. For now I get it. And want it. Think I'll get one. Soon..... But probably a ZX14... Busa looks don't do it for me.

Heli bars is one answer to more comfort, minor visual change, but feels quite significant when aboard. Bonus is the near stock look.

the thing I LOVE about my ZX14 when touring is I can sit in 6th gear cruising along @105-110km with 3500rpm on the clock & I can feel the power just sitting there if required  a slight twist of the wrist or pressure on the cramp buster & you can feel the power/torque coming on ;) strongly through to 4000rpm after that things just go  certainly like riding it...........

Blackbird would be below hyperbike standards. Launched pre hyperbike days and they never advanced.
zx12r- Borderline but included.
Let a x11 in and all of a sudden triumph owners will want in.
Turbo it and we will revisit the idea.

Reminder - Some handling required. Manhandling doesn't count.

Hold on. I'll be back with an extended swingarm and a turbo. That should add extra 20kgs and degraded handling I need.
Some rider comfort required also. Sheep skin seat cover is accepted.

Out. You were never in.
You cant play if your bike handles well on a very twisty road or looks like a GP bike with lights. If its a light weight rocket then your on a sports bike.
Your comments from outside the circle of trust are still appreciated though.:psst:
Dirt bikes on steroids count?
Or do I have to play with the XR200's?
Edit: I've been putting away a few extra pies recently in an attempt to fit in...

I had a 2008 silver zx12r. Don't worry your in the zone. I would put the handling at equal or better than the 14r and drive out of corners as more exciting. Nothing like some rear wheel steering with the front starting to lift off.
Im running woolich (they don't do 12r) ecu tuning and PCV just to run the quickshifter. What is the Dynoworx like?
I did a dumb thing on mine. I programme exhaust sensor off but didn't realise it only stops the fuel 1 fault from putting the bike into limp mode. The akra headers have sensor hole so I still had it wired in. The ecu still uses the sensor if its plugged in even though the programming is in off. Basically its just a F1 fault bypass. Bit more grunt now

I been telling my wife I need a 1290r.
She is not happy about orange frame. Ill keep working on her. Maybe a black frame in 2016 or might need strip it and get frame powder coated. Might need discuss this option with TSS.

Join the queue for a 1290 SMT.
Might still be an orange frame, but feel free to join the queue anyway, tell the wife it's the pillion's bike.
Or change the wife's colour preferences.
Or something.

She doesn't ride often enough to force the rear seat comfort card anymore.
The 28k price tag is an issue on the R though.
Idd need sell the café racer and 14r for good money.
Hard to price the 14r. Owes me 32k but likely worth 18-19.
Café racer almost impossible to set price for also. People pay good money for them sometimes.
Leaves me wanting maybe 5k more monies so maybe save for a while.

 was doing that sort of thing on The GS1200ss I had a few years back and that was only mildly tweaked, found the ZX has a lot of feedback from the rear & it's just a matter of dialing the spin off the throttle  controlled environment only though :innocent:

Dynoworx is HondaCountry in Ashvagas, just that BP runs it as a separate entity to the main shop & does the work himself...was there when he was getting the #2 superquad sorted for the race to the sky (fitting a new a gear cassette cluster). He told me to hold off until the new software was installed before getting the work done; going to fit a PC V etc.
Should be somewhere similar to the pic

My old 12r was on the Motormart dyno at 167 hp at the rear with only a slip on so 175 shouldn't be hard to get.
From what they said at the time one busa was higher but the rest had recorded lower figures.
14r. Im running a drag fuel map from Brocks on my PCv but the ignition timing, limiter, rev limits and stps etc are on the woolich system. One day ill fork out for some dyno tuning. Ill need let them use the PCv as they wont know the woolich gear or ill need run it and change items myself between runs.
Or ill sell it and get a superduke.

BP showed some of the stored data from other 12rs that had been done there and top spec was 168 for an 05 model (think all had been running PC IIIs & most read around 160ish) so it'll be interesting to see what this one ends up at; really just wanting to get rid of a noticeable stutter just over 4k rpm, the PC V is supposed to be more precise mapping (10 points over 8-9 of the PC III or something?) even now once 5k comes round it's :lol:
Hes trying to coax me into a matching ignition module too :pinch:

Don't forget, suited to eating miles.
S1000RR has a 17.5L tank.
Hayabusa has 21L, ZX-14R has 22L. Blackbird 23L.
X-11 has 22L, but quoted top speed is 230 clicks... which ain't hyper. Shit, my ZX-6R does quicker than that. Blackbird is 270-280... never mind a Busa/ZX14R.

My old , standard, Bandit 1200 was good for about 230 max but that was only what the speedo was telling me, helmet, arms and legs hanging out in the wind ...
Something to do with aerodynamics, I guess :-)
Come on, 250kph is not even close. Come back when you get to at least 299 indicated kph. "Hyperbikes" are the reason why the big Japanese manufacturers reached gentlemen's agreement.

Good call, make sure the wheel bearings on the trailer are the high-speed type but, I'm sure you've sorted that already :-)
Its a ZX14 2009 front wheel on the trailer so all good. Running a MX swingarm and scooter shock.
Allows me to take wife with good gear storage and handles well enough to forget your towing it until your almost stationary.
This was the first one I made.
Ill make one to tow behind the SuperDuke if it happens also I guess.

Thread revival lol. Im stripping my bike down next month to finally get around to fitting the blower (or else its never going to happen)
9k invested into the motor. Hoping for numbers in the upper 300hp range as a final goal.
New Pistons, Rods, Springs, Cams, guides, clutch, injectors and fuel system. Gonna keep me busy for a while.

Still debating to go for a Standalone megasquirt ECU or try my luck with a ECU flash and my larger injectors. Did you end up getting the logbox from woolich with yours or just the flashing harness?

Lol sweet setup. Ever get it put on the dyno?
Last dyno tuning for me cost 2k then I gave up and bought new flatslides for 3.5k. Bike also ended up with a cracked sleeve that may have happened due to heat on the dyno (note MAY have). I have a brocks race fuel map set up for Australian petrol and woolich ignition maps and stp openings on the ecu and that seems to run very well now I have removed the exhaust sensor and the F1 fault codes are bypassed in the ecu also.

Yeah keep hearing that ECU hacking is the way to go. Gotta shell out 90usd to get it flashed by my injector manufacturer so it will be able to adequately control them. Originals are 24lb, new ones are 62lb high impedence. Bit of a step up.
Liking the look of megasquirt. Full sequential injection, full control of ignition, Boost Control, Data logging. At only 1k for the plug and play option its looking like the direction im most likely going to go in. Just gotta hope that there a MC Dyno op out there that can tune it off the base map
