With the kick start fixed you could still have problems. Forward kick & high compression. Large boots & commitment a must.

Gets used too often :msn-wink: acts almost as a small warning alert...... struck one a while back, where I offered the seller a price close to the dollar of his wanted price minus the cost of rego & wof and he wouldn't budge off the reserve price yet the pitch in the auction stated "will sell with wof & reg if reserve met" txt'd me a couple of weeks after auction trying to tempt me :pinch:

Only one thing to say to TM sellers like this one: If you can't spell, I'm not buying your fucking bike.

Why is so fucking hard, 40 years after "FAIRINGS" (see how that is spelt kids?) started appearing on bikes, to spell "FAIRINGS".

On TM alone I have seen the following attempts in the last couple of weeks:

ferrings
furrings
feyrings
ferryings
farings
fiarings
farrings
fair rings

Always followed with some sort of half-witted assurance that "its (sic) only cosmetic and that shit will buff out bro". Those bikes with "only cosmetic" damage are ALWAYS listed at some sort of bloody extravagant price and when you ring or email and say, "I've priced up the fucked bits on your bike and even at the cosmically inflated price you've listed it at, you have to give me $500 to take the poor abused thing off your Genghis Khan-like hands", you get offered some form of personal mutilation coupled with sex and travel instead of profound thanks.

Someone ring this guy and offer him $500 for a track bike.
Sub frame looks bent but stick a race tail on and have fun.

The thing that gets me is the amount of sellers who can't be arsed putting the registration on hold. it's not hard. you can do it online and it costs you nothing... but no, now it's a de-registered hunk of junk that'll never get thru a re-cert. muppets

The Katana is an abortion. Disliked model with a hodgepodge of badly fitted parts rested together. Rear cranked up too high, looks disjointed like two different bikes photoshopped different wheels and would need LVV cert to end up with a crap tail heavy top heavy shitter.

Boy am I a downer today, but clearly he's finally realised the same thing. Hopefully he goes out and buys the 600, that looks nice.

Could be a different shock option. The swinger looks like its 2 short also. MX tires and handle bars required.
Idd play with it and get something worth riding but it would soak my money.
Wonder what dollars he has sunk into it already?

I can't imagine its linkage has been set up to work as intended. It was the wrong bike to stat with. If you want Katana styling buy repro body work and a crashed bandit. They look good and won't be any worse than a bandit.

ZZR and GSXR are the only two of those I would really consider, I kind of fit both of them and they're both sporty enough to be a big giggle.
I'd like the Trophy, but a sub $3k one will be fucked I assume

I may need to think about this more
I'll live with a 600/4 like an F3 CBR or another ZZR6 (I have so many spares for one...)
There's an FZ6 Fazer in Hastings Honda for $4.2k or so, which seems reasonable. But they're pretty budget suspension wise.

I should just buy a VTRthou and some petrol cans as panniers

Bloody good machines those, assuming they don't have the same soft cam material of the ZZR1100C? And IMHO the sexiest retro-muscle thing the Japs did

Another bargain, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/tourers/auction-868150133.htm
Really do like the RFs, except for the huge fat arse on them. I think they are a wee bit large and bulky for me to be pushing around lawns, carparks and garages :weep:

I reckon I can live with the VTRthou tank range, I usually stop about every 150km for a quick suck on a fag and cuppa anyway  so rarely let any of my bikes go further than 200km on a tank (the ZZR600 would manage well over 300 with commuting though)

When RF900 were new and under 11k I got keen on them. Then I sat on one and looked down at the triple clamp and instruments and it came across as poorly finished. Guess that's why a budget bike. Likely good value. Funny thing is I got the same feeling sitting on a k1300s. The moulded triple had a rough edge unfinished look to it like a seem that shouldn't have been there.

Owned a vtr sp1 and Wellington to Foxton was almost an empty tank. 17litres used. Wellington to Featherston and back was a full tank trip.

A bike I owned in the mid 90s was a 1989 zx10. That was a great bike or at least I thought so at the time.

Made to make a dent in the market at a price that many who couldn't buy new could suddenly afford. great market strategy and judging by the amount still doing miles a reliable bike if looked after.
