The weather was exceptional this weekend, bumped into Laava and a couple of chicks walking down the beach on Saturday morning. The water was cold, it almost gave my feet a headache! I wonder how brave some will this year to jump in when we get there? Tried to find the Pa at the eastern end of the beach, you can clearly see it from the western end but, we clambered up through the bush in search of the site but, could not see it anywhere. We used the road access this morning and what a massive view, those Maori knew a thing or two about real estate in the 1800's that's for sure.

Pic 1 is from the Pa site looking west along Coopers beach (one for arcane12)
Pic 4 was right outside our unit yesterday.

Nice! Can't get that shot from Google maps.

I will have to remember where the path up is if we go for a walk. I think it's 1/2 way from the Merino to the end of the beach? Comes up to the road below pa road. If it is still there 25 years later. Good memory exercise. :)

Man, we clambered and climbed, all over the show  I don't do hills well, so found it a challenge. Dead ends with a "PRIVATE PROPERTY" sign preventing you from going further are a real bastard

I wont offer to go up there again...

Bet you will have the best fun finding your way, glorious view from the top though, and well worth the effort I am sure.

(google maps search) found it! Opposite 8 Kotare Drive is a little walkway that goes up to Mahoe Lane. Along there, up to Rangikapiti Road, and up to the Pa. At least you didn't try to head round the rocks. Doable, but difficult. Good fishing at times. I am sure looking back on it I was a very reckless child who did things I wouldn't do these days...

I reckon it is a fair bet that many of us would have tales to tell of just HOW reckless we were in our youth. I can remember one instance where I was passenger in a car, lit a thunder cracker and went to turf it out the window. Friggen thing bumped the front pillar as I went to chuck it out, it turned in my hand and exploded! Talk about shit yourself. The impact of the explosion made my hand go numb, and I was deaf for a couple of days. Very lucky I did not blow a couple of fingers off really. Them were the days

I used to be something of a mountain goat as a kid, sadly, I seem to have out grown that ability.

There were two names that I didn't recognise when I looked at the bookings at the weekend, and they had yet to be assigned a bed, I put one in place of Bryce and the other in place of Rodney. In short, everyone has a bed and there are none left.

The vet had a quick listen to Tigger's purring this morning. He believes it's not terminal, she still has a bit of life left in her.
Fingers crossed that he's pre-assessed correctly, he's booked to strip the carbs 3 days before we head north - which is not enough time to buy another bike...

A tad unhappy (to put it politely) with the bike shop who didn't identify that the engine is flooding. Apparently any half decent mechanic should have picked it up, but all they did was replace the plugs.

I'll confirm on Wednesday next week whether I'm on for the trip. I suspect being pillion on a ZXR250 is not really an option.

Yip, the arse bit about it is on the catering side of things to be honest, we get a good deal at Base Camp and to keep the per head cost down we need to be around the 24-25 mark. Its a bit trying to when some take up a spot early and bail late leaving very little time someone else to get the Friday off work at short notice. But that's human nature and can't be help unfortunately.
There is someone really new to bikes that may want to jump into Group 3.

Hey booking early is good because then you know rough numbers v's everyone booking late and people aren't prepared to cater or host large numbers.

Unfortunately life happens. It's not like a "oh wait I've double booked myself or I couldn't be bothered getting my shit organised in time" bosses pulling leave and bikes breaking are not things that we can forecast.

I'm pulling overtime all next week to make sure my projects stable for me to be away cause I work 7 days a week this month and most after hours so I can come.

I know for a fact Brian asked everywhere for the earliest time to get Tigger properly done and has managed to just get the Doctor in at his earliest time, and he's not exactly the cheapest. He's had the Doctor booked since mid last week as soon as he suspected something.

Tims had a go at his boss and tried everything to get out of it and still no luck.

I agree with you, I also prepare for one or two to drop out (for whatever reason) it has happened on all the rides so far, it can't be helped. There are still two more that are coming up on the Saturday that have not booked as yet and one more possible, as. I am not bothered, we will still be around 24-25 heads, probably more. Mark Waters is another there for the kia up on both nights.

You can have your bike with you on the grass area if you want, the trampoline has gone and the tables will up at the whare kai. Just bring a jar lid for the side stand so that it doesn't sink into ground as they sometimes can.

Was meaning to ask you about that. I leave work between 3 and 4pm these days so yeah, if you'll have us. Might even bring some goodies if I can get some baking done on Wednesday night.

How early is too early to turn up? Was thinking we may take the long way up as I don't get up SH16 much these days. Mind you, living a k or 2 from H22 makes up for it.

Just a side recommendation, an FYI if you like. I'd be avoiding Gull in older bikes, as all their fuel has an ethanol blend now. If the bike isn't setup for ethanol (and it's only pretty new bikes that are), the fuel lines can be turned to mush...

Just a side recommendation, an FYI if you like. I'd be avoiding Gull in older bikes, as all their fuel has an ethanol blend now. If the bike isn't setup for ethanol (and it's only pretty new bikes that are), the fuel lines can be turned to mush...

We stop at Gull Whangarei for a regroup/pick up, but most can wait till Paihia for a more suitable fuel for the old and new shitters.

Oakleigh Caltex would be a good place to fuel up but it's currently closed and all fenced off.

And just to clarify that a bit, even if someone puts 10Ltrs in, it wont happen before the next fuel stop will it? and may only happen after prolonged use of ethanol fuel.

Yea ethanol will only cause damage if left in the system for a long time. Never park a bike up for winter with ethanol in the system. It'll be flushed out by the next fuel stop.

That's what I mean, the way Alan puts it, is that it could will screw with your engine before the weekend is finished, just have to be clearer when making statements like that.

Sorry sir, yes, one fill won't dissolve your bike then and there, it'll take prolonged use. The only question (to which I don't think anyone knows the answer) is exactly how long. I think even a couple of months continuous use could be enough.

Hehe well he does put Gull 91 in it!!

Lets hope his is working cause Spectrum have royally messed up mine. After I realised how bad it was It was kinda dicey riding it home. My chain is so lose I can actually get my fingers under it at the sprocket end.
91 is sometimes better for older bikes though. I thought you said that you've tightened up the chain?

Ethanol fuel is not quite but close enough to pure evil... Didn't the majority of gas companies adopted ethanol fuel, I'm almost certain that 'Z' did.

I believe (aka hope to hell) that blends aren't common just yet. Gull has it throughout their full pretty much (possible some older stations in the middle of nowhere type stuff may have normal fuel). Z afaik doesn't have it yet, neither does Caltex or BP. Don't think I could get a definitive answer on Mobil when I last hunted, I think it varied for them.

Normally I would have sorted the groups before now, but just sort yourselves out on the day.

Group 1 is lead by Ashley (LankyBastard) and tec'd by Jase (Mongolian)
Group 2 is lead by Irene (Boots) and tec'd by Simon (bluninja) Carmel (Newhere) will help out with the leading of this group also.
Group 3 is lead by Mark (Maha) and tec'd by Rhys (hobbyhorse) this is the learner friendly group.

:The only point about any group I will make is, nobody overtakes the leader.

No egos or heroes, we just don't care.
This whole ride is designed with newbies in mind, hence the stops every 80k or so. There is only two main stops, at Kiawaka and Paihia. Whangarei is pick up/take a piss/have a drink 15-20 normally.

Oh don't get me started!! I had tightened her up perfectly as per the manual and measured and all, then suddenly on Friday I felt and heard (over my plugs music and engine) a clunk and I thought it had come off.

Took it to Spectrum yesterday to tighten it, do the carbs and give it a WOF. The only thing good I can say is I got the WOF. The chain was loser than the town bicycle that I could almost take it off the sprocket with my fingers- and I have this on video- and the carbs so rough it wasn't the usual splutter it was jerking.

Had a go at them this morning and they took it back (after saying they didn't rip the seat it was just a crack that wasn't there before) and gave me a brand new EX300 to ride to get my work laptop.
My bike is worth $3,000 max, the EX300 is $10,000 so kinda nervous about that.
And I didn't like the way it rode, the seating and things like that. You know personal preferences.

When I dropped it back off to pick up my bike he said "I should re-evaluate if I'm a real biker if I didn't like the EX300 v's my little ZXR250". tbh I found that quite hurtful.
And then he went on that the knocking of my lose chain wouldn't make a difference cause you wouldn't be able to hear it over my pipes and that all I'm doing is attracting cops.

Mao is still running upsettingly rough and I don't know what to do about the rip in the seat.

Get George (Motorcycle Doctors) to sort it out for you, he did a friend of mine's ZXR250C, full strip down, new cam chain, full carb balance etc and to be honest after that it was one of the sweetest engines I have ever experienced, virtually no grab off idle, super smooth throttle response. If George can do it you would expect a Kawasaki dealer to be able to!

I rang George last night as soon as I found out and he said to give Spectrum a second chance cause he's never heard anything bad about them.

I know bits are worn, and I understand that they might not be able to get rid of the 6-7k splutter. But I would like her back in better or at least the same condition as I dropped her off in. $300 later.

Yep, George it is for me. I just hope he can see me soon.

Not a very pleasant experience... When I read "When I dropped it..." I've held my breath for a second or two
That mechanic sounds a bit strange (sounds like a fresh apprentice to me) as Spectrum have a good reputation. ZXR250R has an L4 16-valve DOHC (was very popular in the 90ies) while the EX300 is a cheaper parallel twin. You engine is sportier, and I would personally pick a ZXR250R in good condition (not many around nowadays though) over an EX300. As LankyBastard said, Motorcycle Doctors might indeed be the best option for you.

Lol 're-evaluate if your a real biker because you prefer a real ninja to an ex300', not sure what that mechanic is smoking.
Like angle said a good zxr250 is much better than a new ninja i think, of all the mid 90's 250cc IL4's i think its probably the best as it has the USD's on the front (relatively adjustable i think) and seems to look the best, plus its a Kawasaki :Punk:

Really sucks you have had such bad experience with them, as others have said I have only had good work out of them with my old mc17 cbr250 and gsxr 750 and now my zx10. hope its all sorted by friday otherwise you might have to find who has the comfiest pillion seat, but hopefully not.

What's wrong with Colemans?

I told Colemans that I have a big planned ride coming up, and my bike has developed some quite serious engine issues. I asked them if they had the time available to investigate and fix the engine issues. They assured me that yes they could, so I booked her in.
Colemans had my bike for 2 days and only replaced the sparkplugs regarding the 'engine running' issues. After that 2 days, they inform me that to investigate and fix the 'bottom end knock' (which turned out not to exist) would be a major engine strip and they would need to book in another time for longer.
There was no improvement in the engine running, and after a bit more riding she was garage-bound with worsening flooding/missing/running on 3 cylinders (forgive my distinct lack of mechanical knowledge).

George from Motorcycle Doctors had her for one day and now she is running sweeter than she has in years.
I'm yet to get the job break-down, so not sure of all he did. I gather it was mostly carbs.

Just fin cleaning the bike, spent all week shifting office so im.."gagging for it" The ride that is
Gagging for it is the Bromance Units moto

Im itching to leave already myself, had a bit of a run around today getting my gel seat sorted, a New Jacket ( Dri riders too hot! ) and fixing one bulb that blew in the gauge, otherwise, Went shopping for another pair of togs and im all set, other than my tooth brush and Cellcharger lead :)

Togs?... keen man!

Almost ready from this end, had a hell of a time the last two days doing an oil change, had to removed the damn exhaust to get the oil filter off it was on so tight.
Just gotta run it upto temp and bleed the rad and check the oil, put the fairings back on and im good to go.
There always room in the car Jase :shifty:

So everybody ready for tomorrow?

Not quite as organised as I should be, tarp is a bit small to use as a groundsheet (such a disappointment for a camper) but will do for wrapping up the tent and camp chair, not that I'll need it with the forecast looking as good as it is - even thinking about wearing my mesh jacket (bit worried if I do though it will suddenly start raining). Bike is running as well as it's ever likely to, now has the right amount of oil and coolant in it so rush hour motorway traffic tomorrow, here I come.

Who is coming down to Invercargill for the Burt Munro with me, leaving Friday 22nd for two weeks.

I'd be keen, only the company makes me take three weeks of my leave in December :( unless I organise things way in advance.

Fun? I reckon that is a given. Thanks Mark. So happy to have a decent forecast. This is a special trip north for me. First time riding to the cape. Last time we did this trip, I was in a moon boot and Tony (ynotslow) was my chauffeur. This time my pegs are down, I am taking him to the cape on Millie!

Best year yet weather wise, 862kms and some of the best food eaten on away trips so far. Thirty/30 in Paihia did a sterling job at getting the food out all at once, as did the Pukenui Café. Pays having a polite word in the ear before arriving I guess.
Massive thank you to everyone who came on the trip this year, yes even the shower master of unit 7 ;)
Small fire on the beach last night with marshmellows and alcohol, yes the two mix very well together, theres a boy scout in ever man (that doesn't sound quiet how I meant it) :(
Simon (bluninja) gets the legend card for the weekend, came all the way from the Naki and is current still riding back there.
The weather at the lighthouse was still/hot/blue sky and stunning.

Once again the San Marino staff excelled themselves in providing the meals/venue, Nari and co were an absolute delight.

High five to MarkW and the other 90-milers, that was great, Bluninja's improvised gopro shot some awesome footage ;) can't wait to see the Director's cut.

I have eaten so much food this weekend I cant face "proper" food tonight. I have made a big bowl of fruit salad, that is going to be it for us.

Yet again the San Marino was the BEST place to stay ever! Really missed Irene and Graeme, as a few said it somehow wasn't the same, but what a fantastic job Nari and her helpers did!

+1. That circuitous route was second only to the Mangamuka Gorge for this weekend, hope you saved that in your GPS! We'll have to lead you south around the Hetherington Road loop which I accidentally did twice (honest!).
We've worked out how to find Twin Bridges, so won't make that mistake again. That too is a lovely stretch.
Note to self: Pack a map and know the planned route (My memory and navigation skills are as bad as each other)

Still very much a learning experience on each of these trips. Enjoyed discussing riding skills with a few. Applying technically better road-riding lines (as opposed to random fun lines!) has initially slowed us down, but it will be worth it!

Absolutely shattered last night, and late to work this morning due to the thought of sitting on the bike again lol.

Really enjoying meeting and riding with others. Looking forward to the next trip, and would be interested in contributing more as opposed to just following along.

I set a time to depart etc, and generally make it 1/2 an hour before the actual time I would like to see the days ride begin, given that there is 24 people on different time zones to organise. A few 'out of the ordinary' happenings and things need a rejig ...it's a work in progress  But certainly something to work on. Possibly unintentional and not any one person, but being blocked from being in the spirited group because of being a pillion pair on an older bike (or whatever the reason) put a damper on the first day and part of the second day.

Admittedly being left behind on day three was partly our own problem, because we take longer to gear up than anyone else (e.g. vasaline required to seal earplugs, which don't always seal the first time).
Perhaps the Lead could know who intends to be in their group, and confirm all present at the first decision-point intersection? Again I take some responsibility, as I've done this route before and I have the memory of a goldfish.

Sorry don't like giving even positive criticism, as the weekend had so many absolutely awesome moments :2thumbsup and only the negative comments get remembered.

Prior warning is attempted and is the best that we can offer on road conditions Jason, going up there Labour weekend was all part of that. Thank you guys very much for dropping of the flax purchase's yesterday also, much appreciated. And good on you for wanting to get back there soon. Nari would just love that, get room 8 if you can.

Communication with the group leader (not the ride organiser) is paramount. I think form memory, a Taupo ride we did a couple of years ago, one group leader left the camp without two of his riders, wasn't until we were gassing up for the day ahead, that it was picked up on  But I need to know these things though Brian, it's a bloody difficult thing to organise at times. I am a real stickler for time management as Anne will attest to :shifty:

Before I leave with my group, I tell them all what is happening and who I want where etc. And yes, even I have got lost on occasion, we have taken the ''scenic route'' before today and part of that was my fault, the other part was group leader on that day, which was not me, I handed it over to someone else, my mistake, wont happen again

Yeah I gave up on my phone after it told me we were in the middle of the ocean for most of Friday afternoon. Wish I'd studied the maps properly, had no idea where we were on Sunday - if Darryl hadn't picked the turn off after we lost sight of the group would have missed out on the Bridges run. But I like the way everything is a bit flexible, in case people want to go off and do their own thing for a bit.

Yesterday, it ended up that only two people knew the route to be taken to Mangawhai. Myself and Mark Waters which is why I decided on two groups only. I doubt the TECS knew where to go?
That was part of the rejig on Sunday morning... ''ok everyone not in my group go now''
When leaving Kerikeri I put the slowest rider behind me and kept him in sight the whole way.

I don't remember anyone being blocked from the first group. On the first day I stuck to the second group because the first one was very large already. Maybe it is better to have several "spirited groups" of smaller sizes (four would be optimum in my opinion)? Again, not everyone actually realises how fast the two of you can go in the twisties while two up. I certainly didn't until I witnessed it.

Perhaps the Lead could know who intends to be in their group, and confirm all present at the first decision-point intersection? Again I take some responsibility, as I've done this route before and I have the memory of a goldfish.
That was mostly my fault as I was TEC. Sorry. I was under the impression that Mike (Z1000) and you two are going in a different group, as groups were chopped and changed on the way back.

Any concerns about the trip? lets hear them, always willing to improve we I can.

I liked the looser structure of the faster group, it allowed for different paces to be catered to.

Minor improvements though

Not being forced into a group. If there is a huge amount of people who want to be in the faster group/s then more groups.

Shorter first stops. I understand these are learner rides, but I don't think ~1hr stop is necessary after 80km and I would rather be riding. This may just be me however.

Overall still a hella lot of fun though.

All of them will probably be the easiest, plus I would like a copy of most of them, if possible of course, and I'm sure I'm not the only one :D

I will make up a bulk download for you all tomorrow.

I liked the looser structure of the faster group, it allowed for different paces to be catered to.

Minor improvements though

Not being forced into a group. If there is a huge amount of people who want to be in the faster group/s then more groups.

Two good points Doogle...the group leader sets the pace and anyone can ride in any group they want to, swap around? whatever, I make that very clear.
That first stop was a waste I agree, I didn't even have a coffee. I may look for another coffee option next time, it's also the odering of food that eats (pun intended) away at the time, when there is 20 + people to serve and only one staff on duty.

*It was also a good thing for some to go off and do extra K's after the being at the Cape, and a stretch on Ninety Mile beach, plus the Matauri Bay loop on the Friday, all adds to it.

I was just lucky I remembered the names from the ride brief is all and saw the street! Was fun doing a "wee" bit of innocent speeding to catch up however :wings:

You listened Darryl?....:gob:
Basically the ride brief nowadays is ''have fun, see you at lunch''. I have great trust in the group leaders. They have done a great job on pervious rides, and they know exactly what is expected.

You done really well, and fitted in like you had been on these rides before, happy to have along anytime.

The idea of smaller groups is cool, but the only issue would be finding enough people who are confidant with the route to lead/TEC each group. Unless only the constant speed group has both, and the other groups of about 4 just had a lead rider?

On the Prison ride, the first group rode straight to Te Kuiti bypassing the coffee stop at Pirongia. Though I was surprised they didn't go SH22 which would have been an option for a longer ride. I don't have a problem with any group/s doing extra so long as they are at the Lunch stops on time. What happened at Thirty/30 in Paihia was no accident, they knew we were coming, and how many of us, and they catered for that. Having all the meals come out at once for 24 people was brilliant. Even the Mangawhai Tavern got the food out quicker than normal, they can be slow, but once again, pre- arranging time/numbers all helps with the service. Pukenui was the same, we had visited them two weeks prior and talked it over with them.
A question was asked if Russell road could be done on the way up on Friday...that extra time and the ferry crossing would have put agreed lunch time way off so I said no to that idea.
I have put in the Paparoa/oakleigh road the last two trips as an extra for the faster riders.
There was no forcing into groups this time was there?... I elected not to draft the groups (prior to the ride date) and just asked for a show of hands on the day, who wants to go with who.

Always a work in progress.

OK, I'd assumed you would recall: I raised my hand while behind you on Friday morning, someone else alerted you to my raised hand. Then when gearing up you said me something like "no, go in the next group, there are too many".

Really Brian? is that it? I asked for a show of 6 hands who wants to go in the first group (there is NO fast group btw) 6 because I wanted an equal amount as possible in each group. As you said earlier ''we take longer to gear up than anyone else'' you were still gearing up on Friday morning when they started to ride away, no biggie, just go in the second group, they ride at the same pace as the first anyway.

I may have to revert back to sorting the groups perhaps?

Yes...there was a "spirited group" but by no means fast! It was a more experienced group that wanted a nice cruise. You outlined it from the start...No Ego's or Heroes!

All true Beks, the ride is really relaxed and I have no qualms with what anyone does, so long as it doesn't have an impact on others.

These rides have always been about the 'getting there' with the newer riders in mind, and it will remain that way. Some may have out grown what we are about and that is fine, we always get the numbers.
There will always be a bit of fucking around just because of the pure numbers involved. Look at the Hauhora Pub lunch issue in 2011?
I improved that on later trips by getting people to order when they get there, and not to wait till everyone is there.

If the conditions don't suit anyone, go do your own thing. I will attempt/try to improve where I can but as I said earlier, we got to the lunch stops at the times arranged, which is a big thing for me.
Those four bullet points you quoted are gospel.

Nope. After washing it just down from the cape we think it came out. Washing it after lunch realised it was still a scratch. Still hurt like mad but it was clean and the eye washes and heals itself quite quickly.
Did really consider a trip to the hosp but I really hate hospitals.
I'd rather Take a concrete pill (along with some painkillers lol) and keep riding
Had it been still bad and not just sore when I got home then I would have gotten it checked out then.

If you must know Doc checked it out on Thursday and said it had healed quite well.

The Comments department is now closed, the revised guidelines are as follows.

: I will set the lunch times, how you get there is up to the group leader.
: Coffee stops are optional. Eutpoia Kaiwaka now off the list as a preferred stop (service way to slow)
: The proposed route will just be a guide. The extras taken on this trip worked well. You can get to Paihia/Lunch stops anyway you want too, just be there by 1:30pm.
: Groups will be set before the ride commences.
: Leaving times will be adhered to, for example... 8:30 does not mean 9:20. Check fuel/tyre pressures the afternoon BEFORE.
: Fuel up (if needed) before a food stop, not after.
: The ride organiser (Me) is NOT responsible for the individual rider/s who do not know where their group is heading, take it up with your group leader. At kerikeri, Doug said to me that he off visit his Father, I told him we will be leaving in 30 mins, he was back in 25, it's real easy when you communicate.

No to the tax man, no to overseas either.

I don't want him to sell it, hopefully he wont have to.

Just think change of lifestyle, change of pace. I did another 2 day hospital stay earlier this week, scared myself and a few other nearests and dearests in the process, kind of sealed the resolve, then things started looking positive for us.

Tax man is my friend, he gifted me $2800 in June so can't complain and the only place overseas I would like to live is a small island about 3 1/2 flying time north of here.
On selling the bike? the only reason is I don't ride it enough, since August, rides have been Ohura Prison/get some new tyres put on it in September and the Cape ride, that's it. Other stuff had to be attended too in between and most fine weekends I have been working on the caravan. What we have in the planning stage, there will be even less time to get out for a ride, I only need some old $K5 shitter at best to be honest.

It'll work out Stephen.

This was the very last L's Angels ride. I will no longer be able to organise any rides of this nature due to our new employment.
A huge thanks to everyone that has attended any/all of the rides, seven in total... Three Northland rides/Kawhia/Taupo/New Plymouth and Ohura Prison.
Each ride has been a real pleasure to put together and we have enjoyed them all. My favourite was the first Cape ride if I were to be honest, the weather was mint the whole weekend, we had a heap of L platers with us, and it was a little of the unknown as to how these rides would pan out. Scott the Pot banger must get a mention as a stand out moment on the first ride.
The Prison ride was a real blast also... loved that ride.
$10 off everyone at Taupo gave us enough to buy 18 pizza's for tea and enough beans/hash browns/bacon/eggs and bread to feed 24 people the next morning, thanks to Matt on the B-B-Q.

Thanks Rhys, the Cape rides were are real blast for us, met a lot of wonderful people, putting the ride/s together was a little time consuming, but worth the effort... organising the food stops/route/accommodation price & menu and making sure that the right people were involved with making it all happen.

Communication with food stops owners prior, with numbers attending and approximate time of arrival, was appreciated by them and made for great service, none more so than our last trip north in Paihia, Thirty/Thirty had all the food on the table for 26 people at the same time, can't beat that kind of service, Boscos in Te Kuiti was another cool place as was Big Jims just north of New Plymouth.

If anyone organised a Cape Reinga ride this year (or any other rides) I'd be pretty keen.
Last year I missed out because I had a part time job and would have lost a days pay which I couldn't spare, but now I'm working full time and could take paid leave as well as having more money to spend on fuel and accommodation and food.
I also have the new bike which is better than the RF900 for eating up the kms and gets easily over 400kms from a tank of gas - I could fuel up at every 2nd fuel stop very easily.

Surely someone could just copy last years trip schedule and organise a very similar trip this year?

Despite some bad weather I really enjoyed the prison trip last year and more trips organised would be really good!

I'm happy to organise a new ride next summer. I think it'll wait til octoberish? A good mix of decent weather, less road works?

Last years ride was amazing, the last 10isk KM to the cape was a great bit of road, no one on the road but us!

And, as has been the case since this ride first ran, I'm happy to support it in whatever way the organiser thinks best. Tail end Charlie, group leader, breakdown service, general stirrer, whatever. I've done/been them all!
