yippe, called the shop around 10:30am to get an update on the bike and apparently is was being worked on at that time and i can pick it up tonight! (gotta call em first though....)

see you all tonight then provided there arn't any elephants sleeping on the road into the carpark ;)
Must have been a quick fix as I saw it outside at 12:30.

Finished work at about the same time you guys all disbanded, will have to try again next week (stay out longer ya pansies :P).

Were you all at the quiet lady? was standing outside work having a ciggie (mobil), and saw a large group of bikes come from there...

sigh... not a too bad a ride, coulda been better.

chances are ive a ticket for speeding down karori and im thanking my lucky stars that the bike cop on the motorway pulled that car over and not us...

Verdict on the bandit is well um might have to return it, running like shit, left fork leaking, rear brake sensor fucked oh and i burnt my hand on the exhaust... but on the bright side the side cover doesn't seem to be leaking anymore.

edit: oh yea it woulda been fairly quick fatjim, just a few o-rings and seals and put the cover (done on monday) back on and fill it up with oil

Dafe

Awesome turnout tonight guys. I think the count reached 24 Bikes in total.
A good cruisy paced ride and a decent social gathering once again at the Quiet Lady in Karori.

5th April 2006, 22:42
Sorry guys - would've popped in for a quick drink if it had been earlier (except I'd just rushed back from the airport) but I've got Youth Group on Wednesdays 7.30-10 (just up the road). Sounds like all went well though. I still haven't been to that pub since it got the makeover.

24 bikes!!! That's real good! But does this mean TRTNR has died? I won't be able to go on the rides again. :-(

Wasp
5th April 2006, 22:49
i dont think trtnr has died (but then again even madboy was with us tonight and deano said he would be but didn't show).

either way im thinking of doing a short quick snappy ride around the hills here in the valley may even do some cough timetrials cough on fine days ;)

24 bikes!!! That's real good! But does this mean TRTNR has died? I won't be able to go on the rides again. :-(

Considering last week had all of 6 or 7 bikes.

The weather is the winner on the night.
I doubt TRTNR will die out. if you get a fine thursday, I'm sure the Welly hardcore will show.

The wednesday night ride seems to be attracting alot of cruisy paced riders, word must be getting out as we had 3 first timers tonight.
I think the attitude is good, people aren't expecting a race come wednesday nights and everybody is enjoying that.
For those in need of some serious fun, thursday nights all good!

BTW....... Nice Paint Job Officer Mikey!!!

I still haven't been to that pub since it got the makeover.

They've turned it into more of a family-oriented restuarant/bar setup... its quite nice, but I liked it as the dirty old local (especially since it had a pool table back in the day - i mean whats a pub without a pool table?!!!!1111oneone)

Insanity_rules

BTW....... Nice Paint Job Officer Mikey!!!

I'll second that! What a good night eh, except Wasp and I probably have fat speed camera tickets waiting for us! Good to meet some of you for the first time and seeing others again. Work is going to dictate how many of these I can go to.

The VTZ of doom is handling like a real sports bike finally so riding was a winner on the night.

Bend-it
6th April 2006, 10:36
Yeah, what a great night! Thanks all who were there! Pace was great, sorry 'bout holding up the line abit (ok, maybe more than abit) in the twisty bits... Am much more comfortable and confident with the bike, now that I have just over 2 hrs riding time on anything larger than 110cc! Haha!

Will get more riding in and see you next Wednesday! Actually, timing's great 'coz the Mrs has a bible study type meeting then too! Muahahaha!!

My attendence at rides during winter is dictated by whatever my partner is doing with our dogs (no jokes please). Summer is bike first, winter is dogs first. Makes it hard to attend either TRTNR or TCWNR during winter.

Was there a camera coming outta Karori? Jeez, that's gonna hurt. I saw two of those speed sign things, one told me I was doing 34 (or was that the car I was passing?) and the other said SLOW, so I sped up, but it still kept saying SLOW. Must have been listening to the fast crew then, I guess I really am just a pussy. And some mufti on the mway just missed a serious flyby, luckily the streetlights glinted off his rear parcel tray lights just in time :devil2:

I think I prefer TCWNR to TRTNR during winter anyway - I'm not into pace in the dark. Bike headlights ain't that great, and get worse the further over you're cranked.

Good turnout, good bunch. And Mikey's paintjob is spectacular :mega: :Police:

Str8 Jkt> Thanks, will keep out there riding, always with the L in the pocket! :)

Yeah, did see the cop on the motorway and man, I'm glad he was busy fiddling with his camera and didn't do any license checks of anything... Handy, them reflecting streetlights!

Didn't see the cop in Karori though, I did leave before most, and maybe they decided to set up after hearing about us down at the pub!

Wasp
6th April 2006, 12:59
nah apparently theres one down the other street heading to the uni but not on the one we were on so it should be all good.

both those temp ones said i was doing 00 km/h (the reason why i was speeding anyway).

Did the whole lot and came out at the bottom of kaitoke there then up the takas (with phoenix right on my ass the whole way according to him ;))

then we went down again where phoenix was trying to beat me through a corner, just cos you dont have an L plate dude it doesnt make your bike THAT much better ;)

Good point! I've not done the trip in complete darkness yet. my good speed run was done at dusk. We should do a ride over there one weekend. Its a twistie evil little road so go easy unless you know it well.

I slowed down in the appropriate places!

So how was our easter weekend crew, did we all have a good one?

Yea im all for a ride....

Weekend was allright, pulled the bike apart (need i say more?). air filter is in mint cond (prob brand new). pulled out spark plugs 1, 2 and 4 (3's ht lead cap was stuck) sanded the crap off em bunged em back in, mixed up the ht leads on 3 & 4, fixed that.

pulled right side foot peg mount off to realised it cracked/broken in two places at the bottom and im missing a plate for the brake sensor spring to attach to.... oh and i have barely no rear brake.

went to the shop this morning to find the sales guy is away till next week so will have to ask the guys in the workshop (plan is to put new plugs in) if they can work on it. not really a problem anyway as i have my restricted on thursday arvo so i have to have the bike for that (with atleast 3 cyclinders).

oh and to top it all off my adsl modem box thingy died and now emitts a whining sound so here i am at work using up company time....

We do the speed limits and generally have one or two "L" plates each week.
Just go for a cruisy ride somewhere then off to the pub for either food, drink or both.
Very social get together. Lots of laughs and good company.

A nice ride last night. Thanks folks for letting me tag along. What a well-behaved (apart from a couple of wheelies here and there) mob you all are. Fourteen riders and no accidents is a good achievement for a KB ride...

How many days in a year is there no wind in Featherston? Last night was amazing and it was nice to have a crack at The Hill in the dark -- I can't remember the last time I did that. I must get a new tyre on the STeed -- on a couple of corners on the downhill side coming home it was starting to feel a bit shabby.

I guess all that remains is the election/appointment of the TCWNR nude mud-wresting squad...

Takas by night, Makara by night not to mention a wee trip down the Takaka highway last weekend - Crickey talk about trial by fire.
Am actually loving every minute of it.

Real big thanks again to Dafe for organizing an absolutely awesome weekend over Easter. Thanks to Uncle B for lighting the way ahead and for putting up with that stinking diesel for as long as you did. Thanks to dreamer for showing how the mighty hyosung shouldgo and to Pex Adams for making sure I turned off my indicators.

The "every so often" bit makes this a bit hit and miss, but otherwise a good idea. How about applying the same idea to the newbie ride (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=27270) - I wouldn't object to making a "gold coin donation" every month. I disagree. I think newbies benefit greatly from the site, if for no reason other than that it gets them in contact with other bikers. Let's face it, they wouldn't be on the newbie ride if it wasn't for the site. Also, most of the people on the newbie rides are not on their first group ride, and many are not newbies.
I think this is a good opportunity to pass the hat around once per month, and if Uncle B mentions "gold coin donation for site upkeep" in the advertisment, then there is no reason for bad looks. Donations are always optional, so no pressure is on anyone who doesn't feel so inclined.

Towards the Mway - and the rider knew he was being chased because he split the lanes at great speed, ran the red and took off down the Mway while the patrol car tried to get the queued cages to move outa the way.

yea that bridge can get really clogged up these days, i reckon the council/govt should have bought that site where repco/animates or the other side (new harvery norman) and built a new bridge across cos its not like they can close that bridge for weeks to rip a side off it and upgrade it, i bet it becomes a real problem in the future.

Ah who cares who it was... just some wanker trying to ruin ot for the other Wgtn motorcyclists...Or maybe they didn't feel like losing their license, job, house and relationship so thought they'd avoid that by doing an easy runner. Or maybe they just needed an adrenaline rush to wake themselves up before a boring day at work. But we'll stick to your theory if you like.

And by the way, it wasn't me - not that facts ever get in the way of the rumour mill.

Nope, idiots are idots regardless of what they ride. If I had a cop right behind me they would have my number plate so if I did a runner who would get the last laugh? The cops of course, especially when I have to go to court over it and lose my job. Yeah that'd make it really worthwhile. Maybe if they wre out on the open road without the traffic congestion it would make it a bit safer, but in the morning with peak hour traffic yeah real safe and not to mention clever.

Is anybody going tonight?

I just drove from Wanganui to Naenae, no rain on the way.
Looked shitty towards Lower Hutt, but roads from Naenae north are dry.

I'm keen if anyone else is.

Not that this is a constructive comment, but it's been on and off raining all day. It's not helped by the fact that I've not bought enough warm clothes into work (and that I'm clearly a shandy drinker) so I'm a no. Which is a bummer.

yada yada yadaAhhh... assumptions. I like people whose opinions are based on those. 1) you assume that there was a plate attached 2) you assume that the rider is, or is somehow traceable to, the registered owner 3) you assume that rush hour makes it any less safe to do a runner (if anything it's probably easier and safer by virtue of being shorter and slower). I'm not justifying it, nor having a crack at you. Runners on the way to work are a real bad start to a day, not to mention bloody inconvenient, and I don't know any more about this particular case than you do. But assumptions...

Easy, a few plastic tarps from the Warehouse down the walls and a hose through the window with a sprinkler for the shower.

I think it's time we start being more flexible with TCWNR.
Today (Tuesday) would be the goer for the ride, as rain is forecast for tomorrow.

At times like this we need to bring the ride forward a night. How will that affect everybody. Do you guys think it's a good idea?

It means you'll have to check in here Tuesday midday-ish to see which night has been preferred. After a group D of course.
