The Cruisy Wednesday Night Ride.
Yes folks it's on again this Wednesday weather permitting.
Meet 6:30 at the southern end of Avalon park by the duck pond.
Please Note: This ride is arranged in order to provide a local social riding event for the local KB riders that are riding the smaller CC bikes and that generally prefer slower paced rides.
This event works well by having the group remain as a group when in transit and by travelling at predominantly road legal speeds.
All KB riders and friends are welcome to attend this ride. However, should you struggle to maintain the groups easy going pace, we ask that you be considerate and stick with it for this is a learner/introductory riders group event.
Destination will be determined on the day. See you there

I intend to be there. My flight back from Auckland (work trip) lands at 5.30. Just a matter of racing home, jumping on the bike and making 6.30. If I'm late I can always find you in Featherston, lots of time to catch up while you're there.

That's okay str8, no need to find excuses. Wind over walking pace is a given that you're working late. But seriously, have you been riding the last few days? The wind has been pretty special. The amount of involuntary "repositionings" I've made over the last few days while riding... I coulda swore I was gonna ride off a bridge the other day.
I've got dreamers number somewhere. But she gets around so quite a few people will have it by now... [runs and hides] :bash:

Yep, I ride at least 20-30 k's EVERYDAY. Me and phoenixgtr went over the Takas on Sun was really windy. I dont have issues with riding in the wind anymore, but I aint riding in the rain when I could be warm and "merry" at the pub....

OK folks, its looking good. I just had a look at the latest radar scan, and peeked in the forcasting computer model and the info is:
pressure - bottomed at 991 but slowly rising
Wind direction - Northwest, slowly moving to west, then SWest
Wind speed - around 18knots steadily declining
Temp -18, slowly declining (normal end of day)
Rain - nil - all gone
see you all there

Ride back in the dark was interesting with a tinted visor, so it was visor up with the eyes watering all the way. Once we got over the Haywards and dropped into the Hutt Valley you could notice a decent temperature drop.

Over the Piecock and onto Raumati to a pub that Sels1 knows about.
The MT-01 was (golly I forgot his name) the dude from TSS.
Flame was there with the Duke with the clutch that sounds like it's about to grenade itself.
And Str8jacket was there with her horns.

A good ride had tonight. Thank you everybody!
TCWNR rode from Avalon to Paremata via the southern end of the inlet, then down the motorway towards Wellington and taking the Tawa offramp.
Took the old Glenside/Middleton road from Tawa to Johnsonville then headed out to Makara Beach. Rode from Makara to Karori where we stopped in at a local pub "The Quiet Something?" Before commencing the run home.
Hadn't ridden the Makara roads for quite some time. many hairy moments as many corners have dirt and gravel in spots.
My apologies for loosing my cool with one member of the public before flashing the birdie.
Other than that, it was a very enjoyable evening. Thanks all.

Had wee "incident" last night on the way home when a 4x4 decided to change lanes right into the car in front of me, which resulted in the car in front of me flying backwards a good 5 metres into me. Not much more damage to the bike than there already is, was good of it to fall on the side it was already broken... Im a bit sore today but no damage and helmet only very slightly scratched.

Nah, there was no (more) damage than before the accident, I think maybe because I had come to a stop and not kept riding towards the vehicle. There was more damage to my pride - flying over the handle bars isn't the most elegant thing a person could do... Besides the guy with the 4x4 had no insurance and the guy whos car hit me wasnt at fault but he was really good. I rode the bike to work this morning and its sweet as so im not gonna worry, hey at least shes unique, eh?!

Jeepers Helen, Glad to hear you're OK.
I would be considering requesting a replacement of bike parts and if your helmet contacted the ground in even the slightest way possible, that too!
So the guy doesn't have insurance, thats his choice. It's also his choice to cross into oncoming traffic and cause accidents. It's not your problem if he doesn't have insurance.
There is a nice Shark RSX Oxydium road damaged helmet sitting at my place. You should get it replaced!
You need to report the incident to the Police and then provide the driver with your replacement costs. You can always visit the law society which does free legal aid to have an official letter placed for reparation to the costs imposed on you.
Chances are the guy will have some sort of insurance, he just doesn't want to cough up.

how about some official rules:
- No leathers - only tshirts, shorts and jandals in celebration of the end of
Summer.
- Your bike CANNOT be reg and WOF
- bonus points for not having a license or being a L plate rider
- Champagne coloured Nissan Maxima's are there as a "bonus round" the most
impressive overtaking manouver gets bonus points also, dont be fooled by
the blue and red flashing lights.......its not really a cop thats just for
special effects.
- Instead of finishing at the bridge how about we extend the lap to include 4
Upper Hutt schools as "checkpoints" and maybe aim to finish about 3pm????
So hows that, maybe meet at Caltex Rimutaka at 230pm? or anyone else keen to get blind drunk before hand????

Its going great! I've owned it for about a week now. It's alot different compared with my FZR, especially the weight. Its going to take a bit of getting used to however, my experience so far it that its way more comfortable and alot more stable when cornering. I have to give it the respect it deserves because i'm not used to the power so i'm just taking it easy. When I was riding away from the previous owners house on the night I bought it, this grin began to evolve on my face that hasn't disappeared yet! I'll bring it on Wednesday if I can. See you then.

The pace will be pretty electric, as in electric scooters. It's usually pretty slow paced. But I assume you'll need to at least be able to hack the speed limit (100k).

Is there a usual pub you lot end up at after the ride? I dont finish work till 9 on Wednesdays, so far too late for the ride, but could meet up at the pub after work if you're all still there...

These are cruisy rides, no silly stuff...cough...cough....We just cruise along at the speed limit and the destination is decided on the night.
All are welcome. Don't care if you've got a 200cc or a 1400cc as long as you enjoy yourself, that's all that counts.
