I'd consider coming out tonight. Still grinning ear to ear from the weekend actually. Dafe is right, we need to maximise the use of fine weather. That will be my excuse, and I intend on sticking to it.

Of course it's meant to be raining tomorrow - im sitting my restricted!
It pissed down the day I sat my restricted. About the wettest conditions I've ever ridden in! My visor and glasses kept fogging big time. Rode across to the car park at Newtown Park (up by the zoo). Puddles for Africa. I had to do my tricks for the assessor through and around these. On my first "stopping hard from 70kmh test" I managed to get everything locked up and was still accelerating as I aquaplaned past him. He said "Let's try that again."

When I got back to the store he had a rant at me about indicating through roundabouts. I have no idea what he was on about or what I was supposed to have done or not done. But he passed me. Fucken yee hah!

Best wishes for your test tomorrow. I've seen you ride. You'll pass no worries.

Wasp
9th May 2006, 21:12
Well me and rg100 had a good ol chat to skel then we nipped out seaview followed with a sprint up the 'nui hill and back over, then we grabbed some good ol' F&C which we ate at my place. Great time out i reckon.

You'll be fine str8, remember youve ridden with the big boys, you know how to ride a bike and theres no reason you should fail, stay confident and good luck!

Str8 Jacket
9th May 2006, 21:16
Cheers guy's. A bit nervous, hoping for OK weather but should hopefully be all good. Just got to concentrate! Keep your fingers crossed for me anyway!

Wasp
9th May 2006, 21:21
Yea, i was really nervous for mine, bordering on having panic attack...

But then i found i was being taken by a bike not a car and the guy was really friendly, so by the time i was on the bike i was fairly calm.

Dafe

Sorry for missing the ride, especially after suggesting it.

I had to rush up to Tauranga for work and I just got back.
So that screwed up that idea.
What a wicked Welly day I left behind for a drizzly crappy Tauranga day.

I am, but meeting at the Caltex can often prove to be a significant PITA. But if you've still got the big yellow L and want some company up the m'way I'll meet up first.

Mike and I, on the other hand, were the mother of all fuckups.

We met up in town for MikeG's virgin run on the m'way. In the dark. In winter. Of course. So we get on the road and are instantly stuck in traffic, leading to MikeG's first go at lane splitting so we might get to the elephant pond on time. Some splitting, stopping, rejoining traffic, surprise at how crap the rear brake is at speed ('stop dude, stop!'), cages behaving like wankers for a while and finallly to top it off taking the turn _before_ the elephant pond and getting just a little lost we arrived! Late!

Damn. So after some chin wagging we rescued the situation by heading back into town and having a gentle roll around the bays for an hour or so. Still, 'tis a bugger we didn't manage to join the rest of you.

Dave :)

of course it was running slow as well due to a nose to tail, i had a good look for bike bits (or parts of riders) to make sure it was not a biker. looked all good. just dis-gruntled cage drivers everywhere..

Quite a few firsts last night

First time on open road
First time lane splitting
First time riding with someone else
First time over 70.

Unfortunately not the first time that a cage driver has been a wanker.

Even though I didn't get there on time for the ride still ended up having a good evening with a cruise out to the elephant pond and back then round the bays to top it all off.

Best part is that with a few tips from Dave I feel a lot more comfortable and confident on the bike.

...IR can teach you how to pull baffles out of the exhaust (damn the vtz sounds great these days)..So on my way to work this morning, cruising up to a roundabout in the Hutt, and I see this bike with a funny coloured tank turn into it. I'm distracted by ensuring that the cars around me don't kill me, and checking mirrors, potential hazards etc. And I hear this mother of howling exhausts as the rider gives it the jandal (or is it the rubber glove? I'm never quite sure) out of the roundabout, ringing the neck off the little bugger. Holy shit this thing musta been friggin going for it.

So I looked back at the small intersection and saw the little 250 slowly creeping out of the intersection at maybe 40k tops.

Brakes, on the other hand tend to be more robust. But can, on occasion, lead to breaks. Breaking as a result of braking.

Brakes, on the other hand tend to be more robust.

Hahaha.
If only Wasp's brakes were more robust. It looks like the break may have occured during heavy braking. Sometimes it pays to have a break when braking in order to avoid breakage.

You bunch of soft bast4rds! Hope you were all warm in your jarmies with a nice cocoa? Well me and Officer Mikey went and terrified town for a while. Jeez Mikey was on the largest bike I've ever seen on one of our rides (sic). Had a hell of a lot of fun, a good belt up mapuia and around Shelly bay. You should have seen the wheelies Mikey was pullin down Lambton Quay, very impressive especially considering his mount.
The mighty VTZ has a new front tire which only started sticking properly on the way home. Came the closest I ever have to getting my knee down too.
