OMFG. Why on earth did you put a big 'TYPE R' sticker on your bike.....

cause i wanted too?? simple enough.. my bike! your not riding it, i havnt had complaints everyone love it where i am, .PfffT . lol =P

Who Knows, i might Start Something up and Become Rich Type R Motorcycles! - Who Says "motorcycle cant be Type R lol lol lol

The design of Type R ("R" for "Racing") models was originally focused on race conditions, with an emphasis on minimizing weight, and maximizing performance potential (e.g. engine tuning, suspension set-up). Type R models were first conceived for racetracks - I guess you can Say its Like Bucket Racers,

im putting this on - in replace of it

yip yip , Type R Hondas they were i got the decal idea, from a honda lol,

painted it white, and put that on there, i love my front decal tho, my mates told me to get it - it means "Ghost" i just hate Slow Drivers, im always in the Middle of the road overtaken even if u are not allow lol, they just piss me off. but ill think ill stop doing it tho, i was riding out to my mother's place and did the middle in the road overtake in a 50k zone, and i just wokeup lol without thinking it was a police car. wow he didnt do anything just looked....humm Talk about Lucky as i need to update my WOF, to poor atm

I personally have a problem with ricers in general :p so seeing it on a bike has just confused me. Nice getting away with speeding past a cop though :pinch: guess he had more important things to worry about...

Here's mine, so far much fun considering a nice legal 59 reads as 70 on the speedo, she rips it up so could it be someones dropped a tooth? not going to read into it as i dont know my bike mechanics just yet...

and i though the Cowl was over priced........

on a side note, i've been experimenting with putting speakers in my helmet.
attempt #1 was a massive fail..
#2 worked well expect the speakers are crap..

so now im gonna buy a decent head set, and then butcher it for pieces

You could do a very nice job with a hacksaw and some sandpaper if you wanted.

Please post some pics of your speaker experiment when you are finished

Wanna race?
Lets see if your bike is as many times faster and fun as it cost. ;)

I would be interested to see first hand the older IL4 vs the new // twin. If memory serves me correctly i believe the older IL4 have approx 34-36hp?? Where as these new 250R (aka GPX in disguise) now put out 31hp.

As for handling, mine handles well but i have nothing to compare it to seeing as its my first bike :wari:

Slyer
3rd January 2009, 18:15
The old IL4 (ZXR250) will smoke our parallel twins. :)

Howsie
3rd January 2009, 18:21
That they should! The ZXR revs out to 18-19000rpm so more go per gear unless the ratio is significantly altered.

In the end, straight line speed isnt as fun as the twisties and im sure both these bikes will perform very well with little difference between the 2?

Reido

Howsie
3rd January 2009, 18:26
So do I!! I was considering getting an older ZXR CBR just cos of the high revs they pulled! Now that i have something that revs out to 13 (havnt taken it there yet, being kind until first service) after onlt being in cars that push for 7 its an amazing feeling AND having all that between your legs!! No wonder girls get jealous lol

who needs new??
My 250 is a 27 year old 2smoker and she does a measly 160kph with 35HP and thats bog standard... prob do more if she had a fairing. All for $2K, and yep she is still road legal, and she sure is FUN to ride! ;)

I couldnt turn down the feeling of owning a new bike and having the piece of mind with a 2year unlimited km warranty!! Just too good haha

31hp is because of the power restrictions brought in a few years ago over in japan, hence the whole reason they no longer make the IL4 i believe....

180kmph is the top speed of the new 250R, will let you know one day im sure.....

350-500 kms round trip

This is approx the distance to Pihia and back, will take approx 5-6hrs depending on traffic. A Saturday would be more suitable for me, you know work and all lol

A good blast at the weekend would be up to Mangawhai heads and back on the back roads, some good roads through there and very few cagers!

I saw the Northland ride, shame i have to move my workshop that weekend :pinch:

I see the reason for the big ride. You could do one big trip like that or you could head out to Helensville one night, do a run to Mangawhai another night or through the back roads to dargaville. That should eat up your kms quite quickly. Maybe the weekend of the 17th if you are keen for a long ride?

Hey thanks!

I don't think it's an import though - it was registered here in 1984 according to the papers and the previous owner spent some time restoring it, including new decals and paint. In any case I think that SuperHawk sounds better than SuperDream :bleh:

It is a very cool bike though, in fact I think I may want to get a hold of the 400 version as my next bike, or maybe one of the CB inline fours. They just have everything I want in a bike, and nothing that I don't.

Usually I forget to fit the top box when shopping. 'note' best way to carry a bottle of scotch without a top box is to sit on it!

You can buy a full system exhaust for them from Ebay for about $800, will make it sound mean and give it some extra pep. I'd suggest re-jetting it. Also with older bikes it is important to make sure the valve clearances are kept in check otherwise you'll be losing power.

yes the jetting will probably be helpfull so it doesnt lean out and burn valves and other lovely things, most 250s tend to overheat when their clearances are getting bad, reduces the bmep and volumetric efficiency :bleh:
