My POS '90 SRX250 when I got it 2 weeks ago. Since then i've blown it up twice, taken off front guard, learnt my lesson and put front guard back on...
Gonna strip it and respray it soon. same red with more black and a few gold accents on things. Rebuilding the carb at the moment trying to suss out how I can use the TT350 jets I've got, looking for a carbon can and probably make a new seat. looking at glassing up a custom light fixture at the front too.

Mods are (not done by me):

Top speed is 20 kms higher atleast than the standared speed.

I was quite dissapointed by this thread and originally decided not to be a part of it. However, I have now obviously changed my mind, its time to REPRESENT!

Instead of posting a picture of my bike, which is the acclaimed Hyosung GT 250R, I've decided to sell the "spirit" of this bike which was captured with one picture taken a few weeks ago, which just so happens to include the bike...

Its much much more than a 250. Just a shame lots of posers in Auckland buy them to park outside cafe's.

Over 16,000 km's since Feb this year and its still going strong. I commute about 500km a week now and do 500 - 600km weekend rides.

remember a duc monter 400 is an aircooled twin with two valves per cylinder with a bore and stroke of 70.5mm x 51mm produceing 43hp [31.3kw] @10500rpm my spada is easily making more than that with a rather big gain in top end power over standard. i invite you to ride my spada and see what you think. i think a straight through zorst, iridium plugs, race oil [$30 per/l:gob: ] and 98 octane gas is enough for another 3hp atleast?? perhaps that zxr was a poo one but it ran perfectly fine and smooth with no hesitation..but i geuss you could tell me?

Once past a certain age there is no longer the need to strut your stuff and attract a mate. You also no longer have to engage in mock battles with rival males, you don't have to show up with a newer, shinier, faster bike everytime.

I am free to ride what I like, where I like,at a speed I feel happy - I don't know what size my dick is because I don't care anymore.Old age can be fun!
now thats some wise words....i dont compensate either...so the woman [or men depending if its a tuesday] dont get dissapointed, better buisness you see..

Here's my beloved first bike - I've done about 2,400 kms in 3 months of riding and have come off twice - once on each side - am saving up to fix the bike properly but have managed to tart some of the damage up myself. It was originally red with a big dent on the left side of the tank (done before purchase) - the metallic red proved too difficult a colour to match - honda alleged they couldn't get the original decals any more so I went for a black home done paint job. I admit it's not the best paint job in the world but I still love the bike. Images may not upload - new to the site and the controls etc. Will find my feet eventually.

Im enjoying all the pics guys. Keep it up!

Heres my bike. I picked it up for $5995 brand new, its now done over 16,000kms without skipping a beat. The reason I bought it was to mainly commute and do the odd weekend ride. I also toured the south island on it for 3 weeks.

Does an indicated 180 at redline in top, but the thing is just too heavy to seriously throw around in the twisties.

Mods Ive done:

De-baffled exhaust
Fitted sticky bridgestones
Removed centre stand (heavy and too low)
Cut off rear mudguard (looks way better)

Things happen a little slower with the luggage on but it still cruised at 120 all day long. The motors are a twin but still feel quite buzzy at open road speeds.

Crazefox did everything. I just handed him the pieces (a couple of pieces with slight crack which he repaired), waited a few weeks for it to be done and pick it up. Look at his posts and you should be able to get an idea of the prices that he indicated. I did the pasting of the decals myself. He is quite happy to do it and put clear coat on top if you want to.

This was what it looked like before.

Hehe I took a trip to auckland to buy a bike without anyway of getting home and this was the last one I looked at. Got it for just over $3k with about 62k on the clock if I remember rightly. I replaced the cam chain tensioner and had it all checked out, new chain and sprockets and a few other minor things done to it. Probably spent too much considering how old it is but it goes hard now and I've been having a blast on it.
And fun/enjoyment is the whole point of riding imo

This bike started its bike white and grey, use to go like the clappers and wheelie everywhere - I dropped it a couple of times and decided to make the whole front and side fairings out of carbon fibre then painted it black
Then I crashed it into a car at 90k and rebuilt it - note the new orange paintjob and - vfr forks and backyard caliper mounts!

I rebuilt my nsr - so much work involved and money spent - if you want to get your money back you definately need to finish it - I could quite easily fix little bastard - but sourcing genuine parts...
Its also not quite as appealing to me now that its been dropped - I rode that bike everyday rain or shine and never got a scratch on it... then in 5 seconds that all changed..
I want a new one - that way I can do less work - end up with the same thing but come away with a better result

I liked them, but wondered whtether the extra complexity made a useable difference. How do you find it?

I don't have anything to compare it too...

Maybe if Maverick or someone rode it they could tell you any differences... I do know however it keeps pulling well past 10k when vvt kicks in, so thats all good with me

1991 GSX250S Katana Jap import
Had since 12000KMS now 49000KMS
4 cylinders 40hp at crank

Owned for 3 years of there about's. Had full license for a while. This bike is very sufficient for my needs don't see why I should replace it. Perfect town bike. Top speed just under 180km if I feel the need to.

No modifications done on it.

If I get over 100,000KMs without the engine being touched my next bike will probably be Suzuki again.

Some nice bikes here. That TZR will be a sweet bike I bet

Nice, did you have to rejet the carbs at all? (I heard that after derestricting the airbox on the cbr it can run quite lean) how hard was it to take the baffles out in the muffler? thinking about doing that myself...

I brought my bike with those things already done to it. But Ive had a look at the muffler and it looks like an uncomplicated process.
1> remove can
2> use long bit of steel rod, insert into can and smash the baffle with a ramming motion
3> replace can
haha. the baffle is just perforated thin gauge steel sheet. If you wanted to get fancy you could get a dreamle (sp?) tool and cut it out nicely. But my ones had the former technique applied to it and it is LOUD. Louder than aftermarket. It actually sounds like a rota pulsing when its idling at lights. It always gets the rota heads looking.

You should get the carb rejetted but just get it done when you take it in for a carb balance and tune, which should be done farely routinely anyway. hope that helps. Definitely do it.... apparently it gives pretty good top end but I havent ridden a standard one so I cannot confirm.

Yeah, pretty interesting bikes these cbr250... thinking about putting a cbr600 f2 shock on the back at the moment... you can get them fairly cheap if you find someone that will ship to new zealand from ebay and apprently raises the rear a bit besides the fact that it's got compression and rebound damping adjustment (though I would need someone's help to do all that).... well at the moment I just gotta wait until I have a bit more money...

bloody hell, you take the cib on the beach? respect man! that would be loads of fun, you find it heavy on the sand?

CBobR
26th October 2006, 16:34
Yep was very fun. Was on a trip all the way up to Cape Reinga so thought it rude not go the extra down Te Paki stream to 90 mile beach. Sand was pretty hard so not too worrying, plus the cibby is pretty light and the seat is low so you can take a lot of weight through your legs if things start going bad :). I would think harder about it if she was mint, but at this stage a slide down the sand would actual improve the state of the fairings.
