Yeah it was the single white lines and there were no cars coming, just didn't realise it was a cop or i wouldn't have done it, cop in an unmarked car, no lights even on the dash and not wearing a police uniform, i'm assuming the lack of lights is why he had to follow me for 10 minutes and then trap me in, rather freaked out tho when suddenly some car has trapped me in and then as i'm taking my helmet off a hand touches my shoulder and then suddenly a big overbearing man is standing behind me.
oh yes, wednesday, otherwise known as hump day to some, generally a ride happens

nah wasnt standard, was the colour changing purple paint on the tank and rear tail, and just metallic purple on the rest.
Definately not standard.

I felt for you though when you overtook that car...I could see what you meant the other day when you said the Ginny was gutless. Did you change down a cog when you went to overtake?
Also, someone decided to shoot past the group leaders on the lead up to the hill and got short shrift and a very close call from an oncoming vehicle.

Hi Knight,
Work permitting, I will probably be turning out this week. I won't know until nearer the time but I need to blow the cobwebs off the new beast as she's been sitting locked up in the garage for the last 3 months. I'm still getting used to the difference in power and trying to get the gear changes smoother so the TCWNR is a nice 'no pressure' ride to work on them.
We won't have many of these nights left, as the clock change appears to be approaching far too rapid.:crybaby:

A few of us come down from the Kapiti Coast you may be able to hook up at Pauatahanui. But the duckpond isnt hard to find - head south from Haywards til you see the the turnoff (left/east)to Avalon over the Kennedy-Good bridge, (I think its the 2nd set of traffic lights) go over the bridge and voila! the duckpond is there on your left.

It was a great ride last night, except that it was a bit of a fiasco in terms of being a "group ride" for newbies (and there were a couple). A far cry from this (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=883820#post883820). I think the main reason was because we didn't have a pre-ride briefing to tell everyone what was going on - having a "leader" is no use if nobody knows who it is! Let's fix that next time. Last night the leader arrived at the Tin Hut after the sweeper!
Otherwise, it was all good, and I look forward to next week.

So what you're really trying to say Hitch, is that you and the good wifey will be bonking all evening and we are not to disturb you.
Hey everyone, tomorrow evening is free for all on KB, and feel free to use as many small words as badly as you can!

Congratulations Hitcher!
Just a small note the hill that we've done for the last 3 or 4 or so weeks? probably won't be the destination (still will be voted on the night though so might be). - if you dont like it then you can mind the newbies eh? eh? volunteers?

Of the kapiti regulars: Sels is a no go today; I haven't heard from Grub; I'll be going but I'm not leaving until after 6pm (and I'll be going wherever phoenix tells me to go, which somehow leaves me feeling a little vulnerable...)
Alex: you can at least meet up with knight rider at Pautahanui (see earlier post)

Wedding Anniversary tomorrow. The Big Two Zero.
Congrats. I have the not-so-big One Zero next Wednesday - still way too far off for me to know what I'll be doing! (It'll be interesting to see what the MIL does...)

Wedding Anniversary tomorrow. The Big Two Zero. Mrs H and I will be doing something suitably commemorative and romantic, that may or may not involve the conjugal usage of (a) motorcycle(s). TCWNR doesn't quite fit the bill...
Congrats Hitcher,
And sorry guys wont be able to attend as .... do be honest my excuse is to crap to mention publicly!!!

I'm not sure what to do tonight. Being as what I live in Riverstone, Bex and I may just go for a whizz over the hill and have the usual pint and chip at the "Tinut". If we see any of you there, all well and good. If not...all well and good. Enjoy!

Well considering the number of opt-outs this week, I thought it was a bloody good turn out. Well done to all of us. Thanks go to BuckBuck for making the duckpond speech and thanks also to the sheep on the Wainui Coast Road for getting out of the way! And a big hello to new recruit and fellow Riverstonian, Matt. Whose ER-6 and broad Yorkshire accent got a lot of admiration.
And thanks for introducing Bex and me to the Lifeboat pub...never been before.

Good to catch up with you all. I discovered the Lifeboat earlier this year and shortly afterwards we had a Sunday afternoon/evening ride out to the Wainui Coast and back to the Lifeboat.
Just thinking out loud perhaps an end of daylight saving ride out there might be on. Say that Sunday 3pm Duck Pond - watch out in the calendar.
Heads Up and Enjoy

Well, I tried to join you all, but by 7pm I hadn't got a txt (phoenix is not my friend any more ;-) so I decided I'd just go to the top of the takas and back home. I got a bit worried riding through the hutt when I couldn't actually see the takas because of the clouds, but I continued anyway. It turned out to be dry (apart from a line of sheep shit) all the way to the top, and I was having fun, so I carried on down the other side (some damp spots, but no rain). I meant to turn around at the bottom, but once there I thought I might as well blat out to the Tin Hut just in case you were all there... there was nobody there and in fact the lights were off! So, back over the three hills and I got home about 9pm.
A warning to anyone doing the Paekak hill: there are some (well sign posted; 30km/h) bits of new seal at the bottom on the Pautahanui side, with lots of loose gravel atm - take care.
